It's good to see what things have been updated or changed but also good to have a refresher of items of your workflow. I've been a PE for over 25 years (mostly as a geotechnical engineer and now as a manager of sorts for other engineers). Many of my new engineers are eyeing the PE examination. The review manual is separated in logical sections from project management to traffic design elements. I've used PPI study materials in the past, so I had an idea of what to expect. Obviously, there are many technical elements but there is also some plain language discussion of items that require defining and explaining. This review book provides basic knowledge and complex design features that may be of discussion during the exam. I don't plan on taking that again, but it's good to review items in an accessible review manual for my needs without reading a spec book. If needed, I will to reference the manuals.

Errata in section 7 regarding Yellow Signal Time They have an example problem with a downslope and use a positive grade in equation. it should be negative. i reached out to them and was told to report errata and got little no no help regarding the error. problems are 3/10 difficulty and mostly just verbiage. i would like more example problems/quizzes.

This has some great introductory information about CBT and the updated format as of April 2024. My path to the PE got sidetracked in 2012 so I didn't pursue it until this year after many years of working under PE's. this front half Is just what I need to verify what to expect and what will be available. It breaks down the concepts simply to practice and prepare. The sections are well written and divided and I can find what I need quickly. I have the test in a month so we'll see how well it helps overall. Update: Endded up sitting twice. Do know depending on your state it can be a wait one approved to sit. So plan with sone time to do this so you arent in limbo waiting to sit and find an appointment time. This was utilised more between my first and second sit. Now I've passed I can confently say this book was an essential resource to reveiw topics and prepare. It has the reference material required to perform practice problems. I set up a Blue beam studio session with the actual references this details. To be able to find it the day of. This book enabled me as a busy mom to practice a problem between errands and other odd times. Then when I got home after bedtime re-did it using my studio session like I was actually sitting in a CBT environment. My office is full of EITs so I just ordered the structural reference for my office to utilize in other disciplines and prepare. I've had an item change on me in the far past. At purchase this was called "PPI PE Civil Transportation Review Manual" This is a new product, so it's description may adjust to suit the product over time. The pictures match what I got.

Ordered this manual and study guide to use in my extra duties as assigned at work where I operate unmanned aerial systems for ground surveys and hydrology studies for Public Works and Civil Engineering. As I do not have a huge background in CE or PE, I determined I would I get a study guide to assist in what the project was going to look like after construction was started so I knew what information we needed from the air. This manual is perfect in showing what distances, rises, and math is required for different types of traffic projects. Since I received this manual I have had several traffic coworkers look at this manual and are highly impressed with the information. I'm a licenced professional engineer and selected this manual for reference purposes. Also, it contains examples and technical information that I can use when mentoring less experienced staff. For the specific topic it is a well written and an informative technical manual. Obviously the text is only applicable to a specific profession.

It isn't the end all be all but it does give xopious amounts of information on all the basic areas of civil transportation. I was quite enthralled with the vertical and horizontal design sections but the book in it's entirety has valuable information presentable in a digestable fashion.
