This album series by Luther Vandross was such a great find! I still have several of these original albums on vinyl. Like every generation, there is certain music that speaks to you in a very nostalgic way. It takes you back and brings certain times and memories to mind that were special in life. In this case, losing Luther Vandross prematurely was so tremendous because of his magisterial singing and songwriting! Indelible!Love it! Thank you, Amazon, for making this available!

While we lost Luther back in 2005 his music lives on through this collective of his most memorable LP's. On these five albums you can find Luther's most iconic tracks like Never Too Much, If This World Were Mine w/ Cheryl Lynn and other classics that made Luther the "King of the Quiet Storm" back in the day. Nicely priced it's a mist have for any Luther fan.

Born into a black UK family and growing up listening to a diverse range of music artists and bands such as Earth Wind and Fire, Peter Tosh, Charley Pride and Chet Atkins. Then years later whilst in junior school listening to Be Bop Deluxe, Frank Zappa followed by my teenage years hearing The Sound, The Chameleons, Modern Eon, Cabaret Voltaire only to be followed by learning about the world of David Bowie and Todd Rundgren makes for an interesting and exciting musical journey. But what does this have to do with Luther Vandross. Nothing. Well, that’s not exactly true, I discovered Mr. Vandross when listening to a re-broadcast of a Todd Rundgren and Utopia concert on Radio 1 in which Luther and his colleague Anthony Hinton do back up vocals for Rundgren’s 1975 Hammersmith Odeon show.Many many years later and still broadening my musical horizons, this time leaning in towards soul, r n b and hip hop, I became rekindled with Luther’s voice once again. This led me to purchase the Luther Vandross Classics box set. What a purchase this is too. Not only are there five wonderful recordings, they are also housed mini-lp sleeves. The sound quality is excellent and while the albums do sound dated (this gives them there charm by the way) these recordings contain fine vocals from Mr. Luther. The songs are balanced with a soulful r n b elements fused with Luther’s pop sensibilities.Regarding the content, I do not know if these enticiing recordings are remasters, but they sound excellent played on hi fidelity equipment. As mentioned they are replicas of the original album covers and come complete in a paper box set. If I have a critique, it would be nice to have had a booklet enclosed discussing each album and credits. Nevertheless at the price, the box set is a must for those who missed out on the original albums or for those wishing to have an introduction to his labour, I’d say, buy these albums instead of the compilations that exist (unless you want a hits disc) as the prove to be a excellent introduction to Luther Vandross’s musical vision and vocal abilities.

Classic RnB albums that more than transcend their dated 80s production and instrumentation. Great songs, great singing - any of these albums plays like a greatest hits, whether or not you know the songs at first...

Brilliant I saw the man back in the day in Birmingham , just had them on cassette but needed to upgrade to CDs.
