Are these sturdy enough to use on 140 pound watercolor paper?

I don't know about 140 watercolor paper but they do good with index cards and heavy cardstock. Sorry Hope this answers your question.

Used with various papers, not all tear well and torn edges aren't clean. Also tried water bottle. What am I doing wrong?

For Memory Keepers deckle edges: I bought the kit to deckle edge watercolor paper. It works well, in that clean edges are not what I am after. I want my paper to look torn, not smooth. It is more difficult to tear the paper if it is very close to the edge...not much to work with. Much easier when I have almost an inch that I am tearing off. Once I have my torn edges, I use pastels to color the edges. The fact that the edges are not smooth holds the color well. Good luck with it. Kit T.
