Update: I didn’t initially bother to contact the company about the issue because I’ve had enough experiences with unhelpful customer service departments that I didn’t want to waste the energy, especially since the bench was already assembled. But after posting my initial review, the company reached out to me about the issues I experienced and they didn’t hesitate to make it right. I genuinely appreciate the proactive and thoughtful customer service which is really difficult to find anymore. Because of their quick response and willingness to address the problem without hassle, I am raising my rating. ------------- This storage bench is genuinely beautiful once it’s assembled. The design is lovely, it’s nice and heavy, and it feels very sturdy once together. It fits perfectly at the end of my queen bed and the safety hinge is great for allowing it to stay open by itself without slamming down. It also easily fits all of my long boots (9 pair) and a couple of combat boot pairs along with a big basket of boot socks, which is exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately, mine arrived with issues that really took away from an otherwise great piece. One of the sides was cracked almost all the way down and the corner was chipped, which completely broke apart under further examination when handled. I had pulled out all the pieces before assembling to make sure everything was there, but the crack and the broken particle board were on the underside so I didn’t catch the damage until I had everything halfway put together. I really wish I had been more thorough in examining and turning each piece all the way around first, lesson learned. Once I found that damage, the idea of going through the hassle of undoing the assembly up to that point and repacking it wasn’t appealing. I ended up repairing it myself with wood glue and sawdust in the crack, then clamped the broken corner with vice grips while it dried. I positioned that side against the back so the damage isn’t visible from the front and it all assembled fine, but it was still very disappointing for a piece I otherwise really like. I suspect this one may have been a return. The small packet of screws for the hinges and the little padding dots for the lid were missing when I initially did inventory but I wasn't too worried because I had suitable replacement screws on hand and just figured they forgot to pack that little packet in the box. But once I noticed the damage on the wood piece, I looked more closely and there were also faint scratches on the hinges where it looked like screws had been inserted once already. Overall, the bench is beautiful and sturdy, but the condition mine arrived in was not what I expected. If yours comes undamaged and with all the hardware, I think you’ll love it. I just wish I’d received one in new condition as I purchased it.

So easy to build, and I was able to put corner protectors on the top lid as well to make it extra safe. We use this as a toy box in the living room to make my space look a little less messy and somewhat chic. I’m probably going to buy another in the near future for my basement. I have to report that it not only looks cute but super sturdy my two boys are on top of it and opening and closing all the time. Tools came with it, great value for the cost.

Could be more sturdy but works for what I needed and matches the aesthetic

Obsessed with this toy box we got for our son. So fashionable plus we got it for when we don’t need to use it for toys we can continue using it for other things! Super simple to assemble! A little on the heavier side once assembled but that’s good ! Means good quality! Comes with all it needs to assemble as well! With the cost!

This toy box is really cute and looks great in the room — the black finish and cane-style panels match my other furniture perfectly, which is honestly why I’m keeping it. Design-wise, it’s a win. It looks more like a piece of furniture than a typical plastic toy box. Assembly was straightforward, but once putting it together, it’s clear this is more on the decorative side than heavy-duty. The panels are particleboard, and a few corners arrived with small chips, which wasn’t surprising given the material. It feels sturdy enough for light use, but I wouldn’t trust it to hold up long-term with rough play, climbing, or kids constantly slamming the lid. The lid opens smoothly and the safety hinge is a nice touch, but overall I’d recommend this more for toy storage in a living room or bedroom where kids are a little older or gentler with furniture — not for a playroom with toddlers treating it like a jungle gym. Nice looking, great mechanism, fun and easy to build. Lid is not very heavy which is good for son and safety (not being massive wood).
