Insightful, enjoyable and thought provoking
A thoroughly enjoyable read. This novel captures the nuances of everyday thoughts and where they are heading - I keep finding myself circling back to concepts in this book as I go about my daily life. I highly recommend.

A brilliant read - thought provoking and insightful
There are so many start-up founders out there who would like to change the world...now we have a new dimension of founders who want to change our minds. A whole new frontier, embracing the world of artificial intelligence. Thought provoking and insightful, this is Rosen at his best.

Enjoyable and thought provoking
A very well observed look at a near future dystopia or utopia depending on your perspective. Amusing characters, scenes and easy to read in a few sittings. An excellent first novel from M N Rosen

Wise and thought provoking
I loved this book - it's both really enjoyable to read, and also thought provoking in ways that change the way you see things from your own experiences in life, to society and politics. I really like how the theme of consciousness is woven in so many ways throughout the novel, in the original ways in which the characters and their experiences are described, as well as the events which happen which seem at first different, and then not so different from our own society...Such a unique novel & one that will stay with you!

Thought provoking
This is one of those books that made me think. And that's always a good thing.Initial thoughts were that I love the idea of being able to just "be." Life is so busy all the time, and society as a whole look down on not being busy. But actually just "being" is very important. Of course, meditation apps which allow us to do this already exist. Although I do wonder how much app uses takes us away from true meditation. Use of the "Consciousness" app would allow us to just be in the moment whilst our thoughts drift almost unconsciously.I also love the concept of all our inner thoughts being automatically recorded, honestly and unadulterated. And then being able to review these. Which in turn would slowly begin to change how we think. I wonder if this would make us into better people in the long run.In terms of the book, I honestly don't know what to say. The writing style was quite different to anything else I've read. At times I wasn't sure who was talking/ thinking, maybe in part because we didn't know anyone's real names. Only their user ID, and often the thinker/speaker was just referred to as he or she. However, once I'd got used to this I actually rather liked it. For this particular book I don't think we needed to know who anyone was; maybe not knowing even added to the overall story as the thoughts could belong to anyone. The parts that were written as the thoughts of animals were really clever. I often find myself wondering what animals are thinking. Finally, as always with books set in the near future, I asked myself "would I like this to be the future?" And I genuinely don't know. On the face of it, access to our own thoughts would be interesting. But I worry what the long term effects of that might be on our own mental health. Maybe we'd find that we aren't as nice as we think deep down!

A profound and philosophical look at where AI could take us
The Consciousness Company is a fascinating and deeply thoughtful look at what happens when tech takes on consciousness, the stuff of life itself. It's a wildly imaginative and mind-expanding read, as well as a fantastic observational novel about the pressure and stress of corporate life. A timely, prescient novel of big ideas about what makes us human, The Consciousness Company is a great debut, and I'm looking forward to reading more from M Rosen in the future!

Brilliant and original!
The Consciousness Company is about the inception of a company without limits and which ultimately has the ability to rewire users' brains. The premise of the novel is very original and thought-provoking. The story effortlessly combines ethical as well as philosophical questions, with a twist of humour. There are interesting themes throughout, including consideration of the privacy of a persons thoughts. The writing style is intense and draws the reader in. Highly recommended!
