Love this router!
I've bought many of the "latest superfast routers" boasting every feature and looking like a cross between a stealth fighter and a hedgehog .... and every single one of them has been disappointing! Their interfaces are dreadful, and more money has been spent on how they look than how they work. This unit has understated looks (nice, but not like a modern trainer), but the inside is what matters! Love this router! It's done everything it said it would, and more. I now have a great VPN back to my home NAS, it's fast, and the interface is seriously good. This unit is expensive, but buy well buy once! (It's cheaper than the many routers that don't work properly!)

An excellent router
I am a fan of Synology equipment and this router did not dissappoint me. It was very easy to set up (alongside my VirginMedia Hub 3 modem) and configuring it is simple.

Rock solid performance
Top notch domestic router, its got all the control I need, decent security and safe browsing features and time schedules per user and device.

A great router but a few things are not so great
OK, so I've had this router only a few days now and have picked up a few pros and cons. I've used a number of routers and mesh systems over the years. This particular time I was moving from a Draytek 2762 with Unifi AP's connected to the Synology RT2600AC. The first thing I noticed was that the signal strength given from the RT2600AC was inferior to the Unifi AC Pro access point, particularly in the 2.4 ghz range for some reason. Because of this I will have to continue using the Unifi APs to compensate for the poor performance. Secondly, I notice traffic control - certainly not as advanced as the Draytek 2762 and seems quite primitive. Whilst I am able to put a limit on bandwidth usage for specified devices, this limit is imposed night and day - even when there is no network traffic. The 2762 was intelligently able to allow the restricted devices more bandwidth when the network wasn't busy. Also, it seems that giving a device guaranteed bandwidth also 'holds' bandwidth in reserve and can't be used by other devices if this device is not generating any network traffic. On the plus side, the interface is wonderful, lots of good features - but can be a little buggy. The threat detection is good, picked up a trojan on my network from my son's PC. I believe this feature is based on the 'SNORT' program by Cisco. The iPhone app is good, but limited in features. I'd like to see that polished up a little bit. The best thing of all is the Parental Controls. You can enable Google and Youtube SafeSearch on specified devices, you can set time limits for a child, e.g you can allocate 5 hours to one child and that 5 hours is shared between that childs devices. Great reports about sites visited etc. Children can 'request' access to a website if it is blocked. The request comes through as a notification on my phone via the app. Clever stuff and similar to the Circle Parental controls built into netgear routers. The RT2600AC take a bit of getting used to and you sometimes find settings in places you would least expect which make them hard to find. Overall I'm happy with this purchase and I am sure Synology will regularly update the firmware and iron out the bugs.

Performance Boost
Replaced ageing router with the RT2600AC (already have one of their NAS boxes), coverage and speed around the house is a lot better and some 3 to 5 times faster, setup is very comprehansive and the VPN into the router is plus. Have only had it a month now but extremely pleased and consider it good value for the price tag.

OK for 2 years then nothing but problems......
Had this set up alongside a MR220ac mesh access point and all was fine for about 2 years. I then got messages saying firmware was not compatible? The only option is to do a total reset of the router and it will be OK for a few weeks and then it all happens again back to square one NOTHING! Before I started to have problems I was definitely going to upgrade to their new router once its released but not now as really disappointed with Synology.

Best in class prosumer router
This router is an upgrade from a Netgear Orbi AX4200 RBK753. That router is about 2x the cost, though it is a 1+2 satellite mesh system. I am a fairly advanced user who was looking for three things - 1. good speed and coverage, 2. parental controls, and 3. IoT lan separation support. The Netgear mesh system satisfied criterion 1, but was hopeless at (2) and (3). Parental controls are a subscription with Netgear and is pretty basic. There is also limited support for multiple networks and VLANs. And worst of all, the Netgear router interface was incredibly sluggish and frequently, the iOS app would not be able to find the router despite being on the same network. Before settling on the Synology RT6600ax, I also evaluated the Ubiquiti Dream Machine, which is also highly rated by the community. The problem with the DMP is the complexity of setup and overhead is much higher. You do need to setup the Wifi 6 access points separately and the UI is a lot more complex. It wasn't too difficult, but can be overwhelming for the average home user. The Synology RT6600ax is as simple and as complex as you want it to be. It is reasonably priced for a Triband Wifi 6 router. The coverage and speed are great. But where Synology really shines above the rest of the competition is in the software. The SRM software (v1.3.1 at the moment of writing) is incredibly intuitive to use and the router itself is very responsive. The parental controls are the best of any router I have tested, bar none, and completely free (this saves you at least $50/year alone in subscription fees on some competing systems). You can do the simple route of just specifying "Child" accounts and clicking a few options, or you can go down to fine-grained control of allowing only certain websites at certain times (very useful if you want to allow only, say a particular homework website during certain hours). Setting up separate SSIDs and VLANs for your IoT devices (I hope you are doing this!) requires just a few clicks. Most of the time was spent reconfiguring the many IoT devices to connect to the new SSID. Firewall setup is also as simple as it can be. The above are just some of the features that matter most to me personally. But there are other features that can be transformative to other home users. For those of you without a Network Attached Storage (NAS), this router comes with a USB port that you can connect an external storage and turn it into a simple networked file storage. It is not a complete replacement for a proper NAS (and Synology makes some of the best of those as well), but for those who do not have complicated needs, it is a great starting option. Finally, for those of you with sizable homes, two or more of these can be connected into a mesh system as needed. To summarize, this is the best router I have found for the prosumer. If you want to take a step up from the simple plug-and-go routers (or worse, the ISP-provided garbage) of the world, this router is a major step up. I have Synology NAS and now this router. I have every confidence they will continue to improve the already great software and add new capabilities to it.

Excelente router

Best Parental Controls
No router was able to do it. It was able to block all YouTube URLs.
