Leo Jaymz SC Series Electric Guitar – Mahogany Body, Laurel Fingerboard, Dual Humbuckers, Tune-O-Matic Bridge, C Neck, 18:1 Tuners (Black Green)

I have several guitars , gibson, fender ,peavy and i saw this guitar , i loved the design , read reviews and decided to buy it . Well “ right out of the box this guitar was ready to play except for tuning the strings . I plugged it in and started playing , and i was amazed at how it sounded and how it felt , the intonation was dead on , the action was almost perfect , i had plans to upgrade the pickups , and put a bone nut , i probably will wait quite a while to upgrade the pickups , the ones on it thru my marshal iss amazing , it has a 70s kinda sound and is great . I still will put a bone nut , but i am really happy with this guitar , it is built well and the quality on this 1 is great , i have a les paul i spent over 1,000 for , and i say this one is just as good maybe even better . If you are new or been playing a while , you wont be disappointed, the only thing i did was , took the strings off , oiled the fretboard with fret oil , put 9 gauge strinfs and tuned it up , i played about 4 hours and i really like this guitar , definitely worth more than the price asking .

I'm reading some of the reviews and glad I didn't listen to some one offs. This is a solid guitar at this price range! I had an Epiphone 'similiar' model which didn't compare. Sorry never a Gibson owner because of the price! I'm not knocking Gibson or Les Paul but you charge way too much for your guitars! I'll start with the CONS: First, you have to know how to setup your guitar. If not have a local tech do. Should be less than $100 or learn yourself. Slight fret buzz but not bad (some metal shavings came off from the dremel polishing), lowered the action, the strings were fine (.10s I think) if I could salvage them. But cut em. Polish the frets, oil the fretboard, check your truss rod (mine didn't need adjusting)!! Check your intonation in case. This all goes for a $3000 guitar too ya know!! USA driven, China manufactured, to check for QA. PROs: This has become my new favorite guitar! It's beautiful! The hardware, body is solid, pickups, pots, detail, all good. Heavy but what a quality tone. Excellent! If you have an issue out of the box I expect good things from Leo support, didnt need yet. Please dont dissapoint Leo service! Play through some 'decent gear' and it sounds bright, vivid, loud, beautiful. Overall: Impressed does not explain my first reaction. I bought the Tempest model because I am just overall curious about Leo design, quality, and beauty at this price point! I expect this guitar to remain one of my favs! Update Mar31st - Needed to order a new bridge since E, B were rocking and loose. Asked LJ for support. They offered $20 to replace the bridge. Ok so I did. Next purchase I may send back to Amazon if it has issues. Leo Jaymz support is all email. Support lacks a decent response and time. A live person would be nice too! Add 4-28 Also bought the US Flag guitar. Needed the nut raised slightly. Put some thin double adhesive under it, glued it back in. It's a cheap nut unfortunately but works. Got the annoying mysterious buzz out and action lowered more too. Now it rocks! Still the bridge is cheap and will replace. These things setup right are hard to beat for this price. Sounds amazing!

This is a great guitar that falls perfectly into what I've been collecting, budget guitars that hit way above their price points! This Leo Jaymz has a great body, and a great finish! It will however take some luthier work to make perfect. When I got the guitar right out of the box first thing I did was lower the pickups way down as the were set really high, like an 8th on an inch away from the actual strings. Next order of business for me was to address the fret buzz I was hearing and feeling when I was playing. For this, I had to actually raise the action! Not where I should have started but it is where I started to solve the problem of the the fret buzz I was hearing. By the time I rid the guitar of the fret buzz, I noticed the bridge was set crazy high to do it, and that the strings past the 12th frets had crazy high action. This told me I should have started with the Neck and the Truss Rod. I untuned the strings, lowered the bridge back down to a normal height, removed the Truss Rod cover, and used the included tool to loosen the rod. That's just my experience with the guitar, it could be you might have to tighten it, or do nothing to it at all. but in my case, I had to loosen it. After that, I was then able to dial in the action as low as possible without fret buzz and we now have a guitar that feels and sounds as good as it looks! Just a few screw drivers and some know how is all you need to get this guitar up to speed, but once you do, it is truly a great guitar! This work I had to do to it is the only reason I gave it 4 stars, as somebody else might not know how to fix these issues, or even worse, give up and return the guitar. I hope in the future Leo Jaymz is better at setting these up out the factory to eliminate potential returns on their guitars for reasons like this. Bottom line, a great, beautiful guitar, just needs a proper set up to get to amazing.

I can’t believe this guitar is under $200. Seriously plays and feels like a $1000 guitar, at the very least. Excellent materials and it’s put together well - mine did not require any additional intonation, as others have reported. Plays, feels, and sounds great and I highly recommend this to players of all levels.

Just received the Single Cut Leo Jaymz. So excited upon opening. It is a beautiful guitar. Haven't plugged in yet, but did tune it up and it's playing ok. The solid back part is two piece, beautifully matched. The maple top also nicely matched. The knobs are nice as well as all the hardware. What's left is to plugin, I'll update once there. 'Nough said. Short update: No goodies; no case/gig bag, no tuner, no strings, no picks. It does include an amp cable. Did I miss any of those things nope. The guitar is just that good for the price. The intonation on my particular guitar is perfect up and down the fretboard, really, at this price? Fret ends ok, not excellent but good. Neck nice and straight with no buzz. Action ok. The tuners are good, though I'm going to change them just to get a more vintage look (I'm actually on the fence, 'cause it does look good as a modern). I already added pointers (Kaish) to the knobs looks good. No blemishes anywhere on the guitar or binding. The pickups are good, tried them out and got that nice breakup turning up the volume, such a pleasing sound. Once I finish the tuners, I'll post before and after photos. If you're looking for a reasonably priced LP, this is it. Photo Update: So I added the vintage style tuners, though there locking (guyker) good and the pointers which I previously mentioned. The tuners where not easy and I didn't get it a 100% right, but there acceptable. The problem, you have to make your own holes for the screws and the holes for the pegs themselves, in the headstock, are larger. This leaves a lot of wiggle room to get them centered. This was my first time doing this. I used a nail for starter holes for the screws, I was afraid to use a drill and go to far. It worked out. Thinking after the fact, you could use a shim for the peg holes which would standarize yhe placement (either temp or perm), next time. I liked the outcome and achieved the vintage look I wanted. Compare for yourself before and after. Hope this helps.

I got this as a Father's Day present (from my wishlist) I watched about a dozen review videos about it and the evolution of the guitar over the last few years and it really seemed like a good option for a 53 year old beginner like myself. First off, this is an absolutely gorgeous guitar. The finish on mine is flawless. And the color is amazing. I would expect this to cost about $500 more than the $189 paid. And it feels like a quality piece. No sharp frets. The fretboard was perfectly level. I can't find any problems with the frets. The do need to be polished, but I'm swapping out the strings and will oil the fretboard as well. I plan on upgrading the nut as well. It sounds like I expected. I'm not a professional, I'm still learning. So, for me, it sounds like an electric guitar. I tuned it up and started playing comfortably right off the bat. It will need some fine tuning. And I recommend having someone set it up if you don't know how. I'm very excited about this guitar. It has exceeded my expectations.

I purchased this guitar after I first purchased the Gradient Red style LP. I am very happy with the Finnish it is beautiful. The hardware is ok , tuners are pretty good. The neck is wonderful, very smooth not too fat. Tunes up easily and holds the tuning very well. It sounds great in all aspects. The price is perfect. However one thing, when I received my Gradient Red it was packed very well and it was in a fairly decent GigBag. The Cherry Sunburst was in great shape once delivered, but it didn't include a GigBag, I'm aware that is a little petty on my end ,BUT my other guitar got one, why not this one too...it's the same company!! Overall, I absolutely love this guitar, highly recommend, if you aren't playing Gigs and just want to fool around with a really cool guitar get this one.....word of advice, purchase a case before you get it shipped to your home. Good luck, keep Rockin ! Update, I have been playing the first two guitars, like crazy, both are absolutely a ball to play, so much so that I just had to get one more. Well, actually I ended up getting two more LPs I got Mr. Purple and the LP Sunburst is being shipped to me.....Hopefully soon. The Purple is a beautiful guitar and sounds wonderful. Nice feel in my hands and it's only 11 lbs I've been enjoying it for over a week, I am really happy. In about a week I will be receiving the LP Sunburst and I am very sure it will be amazing too. I just recieved this guitar (01/03/2018) and kudos to fast shipping. Unfortunately that is all the good that I can say about Amazon. It was shipped in a single guitar box (oem) and got damaged in shipping. Amazon's shipping unit definitely does NOT know how to pack and ship guitars. The selector switch protruded through the box and got broken off. The stop-bar tail piece and bridge were actually damaged because the box had something heavy thrown on top of it and it bent the bridge out of alignment. It must have been really heavy because it actually punched through the thin foam wrap that the manufacture wrapped the guitar in. I assume it's the trade-off for fast shipping from Amazon. You don't get quality/care for your items. As for the guitar itself? I really wanted to fall in love with this guitar. I love the way it looks. The finish was not perfect (swirl marks, etc.,...) but it looked good. There were several manufacturing issues that would have needed resolving but I simply chose to return the guitar due to the shipping damage. #1: The G-string tuning peg was loose. #2: The string grooves in the plastic nut had been filed too deeply on the low E groove that the guitar would not tune to pitch on the low E string due to fret buzz on the first fret. The nut looked like you could stack two strings in the groove. :-( #3: The truss rod was too tight (neck back bowed). #4: Numerous frets (3, 8, 14) were too high which would result in future fret work. #5: The electronic cavities in the back looked like they were chiseled by hand. Simply hideous, but no one ever sees the back, I guess. #6: The bridge pickup volume knob (potentiometer) did not protrude far enough through the front of the guitar. The knob would fall off if you attempted to adjust the volume. It was rubbing the finish and left marks on it. #7: The front strap bobbin was too high up on the curvature of the guitar. My strap would not stay on it. #8: The tuners had too much play in them. The guitar wouldn't stay in tune. They had a lot of space between the tighten/loosen function. Probably a 10-1 ratio. #9: The bridge was not mounted/centered correctly for a true LP style 24.75 scale setup. It was canted almost a full .25 inches from low to high E. #10: ..............you get the idea here? The feel of the neck was great (C-shaped, wide, jumbo frets) and the binding was perfect. I really liked the neck/head-stock. The weight of the guitar was on par with a Gibby/Epi Studio unit and balanced well (when my strap stayed on the bobbin). The pups sounded bright and did not hum at all. Overall, I can honestly say that I wanted to fall in love with this guitar, The finish was great. The theme was great. I wanted to hang it on the wall and move on but the issue with the bridge was the deciding factor to return the guitar. It would require too much work to remount the bridge for a correct scale length and get perfect intonation. I could fix the tuner, replace the nut, set the action, add new strings, polish the finish, etc.,......but the bridge work isn't worth the time on this cheap unit. Good luck to anyone buying this unit. I hope your's doesn't get destroyed in the shipping process. It's a PITA to have to deal with online purchasing. A flip of the coin on almost every purchase when it comes to shipping. FWIW! These guitars are from a reseller in KY from sourced units. They are definitely NOT custom guitars. The finish is a laminate with clear coat on top............they are imported, cheap, China knock-offs. PEACE!

This guitar comes securely packaged in polystyrene shaped to fit the guitar and then inside a sturdy box. It comes with a lead and an allen key (no strap). Needed a slight tune out the box and it was ready to play. It looks gorgeous and sounds great. Played it for about 3 weeks and its only needed re-tune once in that time so has held tune very well! It's a solid build with a good quality finish. Nice and easy to play with a low action. It has a 3 position switch. 2 volume controls and 2 tone controls. It's quite weighty but nothing ridiculous. Overall a fantastic guitar with great functionality aswell as looks! Very happy with purchase. I would recommend to others and buy again!

Leo Jaymz SC style guitar - I had been looking at these guitars for quite a while. When I saw the guitar on Amazon most recently - just before Christmas - the one I ordered (Green/Black) was on sale. This was the time! Despite a few reviews that were not terribly complementary, the positive reviews outweighed the less positive ones by a big margin - besides, I saw an interview with Leo Jaymz on YouTube and was impressed with what he wanted to do insofar as building and selling guitars. Given that the guitar had travelled a long distance, I did have a bit of a concern re damage, however, when I lifted the lid on the box and saw the very substantial Styrofoam inner packing my concerns were substantially lessened. When I did pull the guitar out of the heavy-duty bag, I was extremely pleased with the look and finish of the guitar. I then examined the frets and the tuners. The frets were finished beautifully. No sharp edges and they were chamfered nicely along the side of the fretboard. I could comfortably run my fingers up and down the neck. The tuners were solid and there was no wobbling of the turnkeys. The bridge and tailpiece were also better than expected. Ok, time to plug it in! WOW! Fantastic tone. Straight neck and the action is very nice. The pots all seemed solid and worked as they were supposed to. I was even prepared to change the strings immediately, but I didn’t. The guitar sounds great and looks great - 100% happy. Can’t wait to show to the folks in my band. For me; truly a 5/5. Thanks Leo Jaymz.

I’m not sure how they make such amazing guitars. It’s such a low price but I’m glad they do. We are living in the golden age of high-quality affordable guitars. This is absolutely no exception. The guitar arrived in perfect condition with no scratches or blemishes. Everything was set up, reasonably well, and will only need a small adjustment for my own personal preferences. The pick ups sound good and are pretty well. Rounded not too cold not too hot but of course that’s subjective. The string action was well set and properly intonated. I was surprised that there wasn’t any fret buzz for a guitar in this price range and that was shipped in the winter and probably spent a long time in the cold before it got to me. Lucky me. You never know. I recommend Leo Jaymz guitars in general and their kits are amazing too and don’t take long at all to build.

Great guitar for the money I have owned 2 Gibson Les Paul's in the past and this guitar is as good as or even better with regard to looks, finish and playability for a fraction of the price but, there are three things to be aware of for anybody who is thinking of buying one. 1. The bridge pickup ring is fitted the wrong way around which causes the pickup to tilt unnatural into the centre of the guitar. This is easily fixed by loosening the strings and removing the four fixing screws and turning the ring into proper position. 2. The dimension of the guitar body is smaller by 3/4 inch when compared to a Gibson. It should be 18 inches which is actually in the the specs on the Leo jaymz website. This is not going to be a problem for most people but if you need to fit a bigsby trem like I wanted to it's a no no. 3. The last problem is more serious, when you select both pickups together then roll off the volume for the bridge the neck cuts out completely, also in the centre position both volume knobs some how does something not quite right with regard to the treble at the top and bottom end of the dial. To fix this I am going to fit a new wiring harness with larger 500k pots which will make the guitar even more comparable to a Gibson.

This is my second LJ guitar and it’s great. My first was a monsoon which I was and am very impressed with. I’ve been waiting to get one of these LPs in purple and they’ve been out of stock for a long time so I jumped at the chance to pick this up as soon as they were back in. I have been playing for 30 years and own many high end USA and Japanese Fenders, Jacksons and Ibanez. I’m definitely a Strat guy when it comes to traditional guitars and although I like LPs I’ve never pulled the trigger on one and usually just bought another Strat or Tele. But for $250 and my positive experience with the monsoon I figured why not. I was not disappointed. So let’s break it down: The Pros: The price cannot be beat and I would say that the quality is on par with a high end Epiphone. I have and inspired by Gibson 335 and this is close at a 1/4 of the price. The finish is beautiful but the flame veneer is not as defined as others. Maybe it’s the colour but I’m not bothered about it. The body and neck are fully bound and pickups sound great. Everything works as it should and it doesn’t feel cheaper than any Epiphone I’ve played. The neck is a slim 60s profile and not the 50s style baseball bat which I also like. The Cons: Out of the box it was set up but it wasn’t great. There was some string buzz and the action was high but I’ve done this more times than I can remember so that wasn’t an issue for me to do. If you can’t do the work yourself I would look up a how to video as it’s quite easy to do but if you’re not comfortable a set up will likely be required as an additional cost. Post set up, the action is low with no buzz and it plays fast and smooth. The tuners are ok but feel a bit sloppy and like all Gibson style guitars the g string stability is bad. I’ll probably throw a cheap set of locking tuners on which should fix this classic problem with this design. Overall it’s an amazing instrument for the money even with the additional cost for tuners and needing to pay for a setup if you’re unable to do one. QC is always an issue with these so I would just keep returning and replacing in the event you get a bad one. It is that good if you are willing to put a bit of time and effort into it.
