Chronicle Books Homeland: My Father Dreams of Palestine

Normally my children aren't very engaged deeply in a book, but this one from before I opened its pages until days after, stuck inside my child's head. When I brought the book to bedtime, my son first asked what is homeland? And it started a great conversation about our own lineage as indigenous Okinawans. Throughout the pages he giggled at the uncle joke, pointed out the cats with delight, and was enamored with the juice man. The next day I came home from shopping, and he had hung up paper doves from the ceiling just like in the book. It's incredibly touching to me that Hannah Moushabeck was able to reach my son's heart and creativity in such a beautiful way. We ache and mourn for her people much like we do our own who were lost during wwii and japan's occupation. Free palestine!

I am so happy I found this book. I have always told my kids about our homeland.. but to read them a story about our homeland.. that was heartwarming. To let them see those beautifully illustrated places and people that have lived in Palestine. How life was before the occupation.. as a Palestinian that has been living in diaspora and never had the privilege to even visit my homeland.. that book touched my soul & gave me goosebumps reading it.. thank you Hannah.

Very nice book to introduce Palestine to kids

Beautiful bittersweet story but the artwork is the real wonder - just gorgeous. Absolutely thrilled with this book. Bought as a present for my mum but will certainly be getting myself a copy too.
