Big type, antique book
This is required reading for a class I am taking. At first, I thought "this book is huge!" I opened it to see that the writing is rather large, the margins are very wide, and I can probably read it in a few sittings. I like the fact that this is a facsimile copy of an antique book, written between 1766 and 1768. Since it is of that era, the typography and quaint spellings of the time are used. Small s's are f's and so on. If you know the usual typesetting of the time, you will be okay. The only part I did not like is the margins where the quires of the book are stitched is sometimes illegible, and you must sort of decipher a bit. Otherwise, this is a cool book to have in your library if you are interested in history, early explorers, or literature.

This will do in a pinch
When I bought this I was inexperienced in this facsimile reprint stuff. Although this isn't identified as such, which is wrong and misleading of Gale ECCO, whoever they are. There were quite a few spots were the print was too light to read. And the large format makes the book unwieldy to handle. It looks like the edition published by Wiley would be a much better choice. The text of the book itself is generally pretty interesting. The latter part of it that is in the form of exposition about Indian customs, flora, fauna, etc., is kind of dull.So this loses one star for content and two stars for presentation.
