Newer style
As far as 'Universal' it is not... It goes on newer models, that have the slotted connection (if pictured) on the left top (looking at brand name), If that is damaged, it was suggested and 'Worked' using the older style that connects with nut holding tire on.

Good repair part for the money
Used this to fix my Mongoose mountain bike when the original derailleur blew up and got wadded up in the spokes.
