I found this basket on a list of "The Best Dog Bike Baskets: Safe Bicycle Riding with Dogs" and this basket was listed as #2 (to be honest, I'm not sure why the #1 was listed as #1 - it looks...odd), but this one should have been #1! I'll put the details below my review. I agree with every point they make. My Yorkie is 10 lbs. We previously had the #3 on the list: Snooze Buddy Dog Basket. It was a great basket. I loved it, but I sold my bike and I couldn't detach the basket attachment thingy since it rusted on over ten years. However, I did have a few issues with it - the attachment thingy dug into the basket so much that it was pressed up against my dog, which really limited her space inside the basket, although otherwise, she fit fine. The other thing is that it was not sturdy. It slid from side to side as we rode and as she moved around inside. The biggest consideration when purchasing this basket was finding a sturdy basket, as finding a basket for her size isn't too difficult. With that being said, she has a great amount of room in this basket. She jumped right in when we took it out of the box and she NEVER does that. So that is saying something!! Purchased so we can take our 16-pound miniature schnauzer with us on bike rides. He seems to fit just fine and is quite comfortable in the padded basket. Very simple to install on my ebike. Do need to be a bit more balanced with the additional weight on the front. Basket was simple to install and reasonably stable. Very simple to remove when not in use.

MUST-BUY! We’ve tried a few different options to take our fur-baby on bike rides with us & this one has worked the best for him. He’s a 13 pound mal-shi & we fit this basket on a Trek mountain bike. He loves to cruise with us! It’s well made & easy to install.

This was SUPER easy to install. Screw driver, little time, quick set up. This was really hard for me, a female with a tendon issue in a wrist that can flare up easily, to balance on the handlebars with one 10 pound, very well behaved dog. This has been my ONLY con. My remedy, using industrial grade zip ties, I poked little holes in the fabric on the bottom of the bag and secured it in multiple places to a back cargo rack. I intended to only use it with one of my dogs (the mini poodle, 10 pounds) as she’s worked with me to ride more. She is very attached to me, so in the back, she can push her nose against me when she’s insecure. She sat very quiet and didn’t move at all when I had it on the handlebars, but it was still a lot (I have a mountain bike, but used it on residential streets). I randomly popped my Jack Russell (12 pounds) in with her one day for a ride with my kids. They LOVED it. The basket is worth the whole price, even rigging it on the back. There’s a place I can attach a water bottle for them, I love the reflective inserts (even if it’s on the back - I’m the type that wants to be visible to anyone when biking), theres a pocket I can fit two 4 foot leashes, and a pouch I can put a few treats and poo bags in. I’ve had to wash the material in the dog area, and was pleased with how it just velcros right in and out. For a newbie to hauling dogs with her, the rear mount option was best, but this basket comes with two styles of ties to clip them in securely - and they adjust - so I have two, for two dogs, is comfortable for my dogs, cleans easily, and helps store the things they need.

Its hard not to give full stars to the first pet basket ive found that will hold my dog's weight! I own a mini dash hound who is getting to be about 6 years old and has had back problems in the past. I feel like this item was very well-made, it's reflective where the color strips are, it has wonderful storage opportunities on the sides with the pockets, it's easy to clean, and when it's not in use you can easily use as a pet bed since it's super well-padded and my cats actually really like sitting in it and sleeping in it and generally just rolling around in it. I do have to say there are some downsides to this basket. First of all this basket does not have a metal bar under it, it actually just hooks into the little mechanism that holds it to your bike. While it is sturdy and I believe it is true to if your dog or cat can sit comfortably in it then it can probably hold their weight I wouldn't recommend this basket to anyone who aims to be doing biking in the mountains or anywhere that's bumpy or over potholes because while it is sturdy it does wiggle a little bit and even though it might not happen there is a kind of a fear that it may snap if given too much pressure. I would recommend this for anyone who's just like riding through a paved park or just around their neighborhood anywhere that's level and well-kept I feel like my dog is really going to enjoy this. Also it said itd take three weeks to arrive here in Florida but it only took four days. It was well packaged in a big box and everything inside was baggied. You will need screw drivers to put it together.

This company charges a restocking fee. The metal end of the carry handles that attached the basked to the installed bike hardware broke and injured my 6 pound Pomeranian of of course while trying to save the dog, I was scraped up. The basked is great, the easy attachment to bike is great, but the attachment is very dangerous because it snaps. I purchased this basket is 2018 and loved it until it snapped on the third ride on a flat bike path, no more the a total of ten miles put on the basket. I recently reordered the same basket--years later, from the same store on Amazon in hopes that they have found a safer attachment. They still are using the same form of attachment. I'm sending it back and actually feel safer using a basket I just ordered that uses several velcro straps instead of a metal handle that snaps and cost 1/4th of this price.

Finally got around to using this. I was a little worried about everyone talking about it being hard to steer but I barely noticed any change in the handling of my bike with my 8lb Shih-Tzu Puppy. Basket didn’t bounce around and was super secure. Leash inside kept him from jumping out. I feel like I could fit a much bigger dog In here as he had plenty of room to move around. Easy to assemble and Pops off in 2 seconds by raising the handle lock. The engineering of it is good in that you know the basket will not fall off with a bump or what not. Be sure to get a set of doggy goggles too. I noticed if I went fast, the wind kinda dried his eyes a bit and he turned away from the wind.

We needed to replace an old worn out bike/pet basket after several years. It was a decent basket but no longer available. I searched all over and looked at many different ones but couldn't find many that looked like it was sturdy and safe. I ordered a couple to try out and they were just junk. Then I found the pet pilot. This is a very well made product. It's very easy to install and very solid and safe once mounted.

Exactly as it was described - easy to use. The product is great but riding with a 22lb dog on the front of your bike when your not the greatest cyclist has proven difficult and somewhat dangerous. I recommend the product for especially with experienced cyclists and smaller dogs.

Very sturdy and well built. Does take a bit getting used to riding with 16 lb dog on front of bike.

Assembly was easy and the basket is very comfortable but there is a major flaw in the mounting. The basket is held on by a metal hook at the top of the mounting bracket which seemed fine at first. Went out on a bike ride with my dog in the basket (10 pound yorkie-poo so not that heavy) and the hook broke off. I was on a flat trail and was not going fast at all. As the hook is the only piece keeping the basket on, the hook breaking off sent the basket and my dog flying and crashed on the ground. Luckily the way the basket landed ended up not hurting my dog but this scared me and is very unsafe! Upon inspection, the hook is only held on by a very small circle of welding on each side. This needs to be welded way better than it currently is. This is a safety hazard and am currently in the process of returning the basket.
