Insect and Butterfly Habitat Cage Terrarium Pop-up 12" x 14" Tall

My purchase was for three reasons: to be able to watch the beauty of nature unfold before my eyes and to be able to teach my grandchildren more about nature and to answer a need for my 8 yr old grandson who is our little scientist. This butterfly habitat is the perfect size for our small home, was inexpensive but very well made and I love the idea that it has a hand size zipper door on the side as well as the zippered top that allows easy access for cleaning and attending. It's also very handy that it readily collapses when not in use and is held closed with velcro. Putting it up is a breeze; just unfasten the velcro and the habitat pops into shape. Great purchase and I would recommend it to anyone interested in butterflies.

I highly recommend this cage if you are raising Monarch caterpillars to release. The top has dual zippers that unzip completely for ease of cleaning, restocking milkweed and releasing butterflies. One hint - be sure to close it so that the zippers meet directly across from the "hinged" side to make it easier to access the inside once you have chrysalises on the top. The side zip door is also very handy. Great product.

We bought this for the many monarch caterpillars that we had in our yard. We were unsuccessful with the first batch, but the cage was easy to clean and we tried again! Just put it in the sink with dish soap and it cleaned right up! The second set of caterpillars were happy in here and made their chrysalis on the top. They had no problems crawling in this cage or attaching to the top. It was easy for me to get to them through the top and side access. We even had one that had his cocoon fall and I was easily able to attach it back to the top with a stick pin. We can't wait to use this year after year!!!

This product was exactly what I was looking for. It is well made, simple and works perfectly - I have three chrysalis hanging from the top - waiting to split open and monarch butterflies to exit. I had two caterpillars in it at one time and they take LOTS of milk weed to eat. I had to add additional food several times. I found if I placed a small potted milkweed in the cage that worked well. the cage is not easy to clean out, but putting paper towel in the bottom works good.

I have raised several thousand butterflies of different species from eggs. This is a great size and design. The double entry is a must!! The mesh is very fine to keep in the new hatched. The solid fabric bottom is a great help at clean up time.

Our family enjoys watching caterpillars make their chrysalis' and then hatch into butterflies. We grow fennel and lantana to attract butterflies! So far we have had about forty caterpillars use this habitat. It is sturdy, but would blow over if it was a windy day, so be mindful of that. It has nice zippers to open and close the top and also a zipper on the side to feed the caterpillars without disturbing any chrysalis' that may be at the top of the habitat. This is the second we have ordered and would order again if needed.

I bought two of these and like that they have a zipper on the top as well as down on the side. I can open the side zipper to clean the area or to stick my phone in to get a great photo. This is a very safe environment for my butterflies. I know I don't have to keep an eye on what's going on inside the enclosure at all times because they will not be able to escape. The enclosures are easily collapsible for storing and are lightweight. I might get a bigger size next time but I'm a beginner at raising butterflies and feel most comfortable with this size right now. There was also an issue with one of the enclosures I bought, but manufacturer worked with me to resolve the issue. There was very good communication back and forth.
