Natural angelica root from India.
This bag of Herbs Botanica Angelica Root holds a good supply of pieces of root, in various sizes. I like that theyโre in an airtight plastic bag, inside a ziploc outer bag to keep them fresh. Itโs a subtle herb with a smoky essence. I appreciate the list of tips and uses (including cooking and tea) on the back of the bag. I also really like that itโs 100% organic and natural, with no chemicals or pesticides. Good product.

Acornus calamus is not Angelica
The item information all points to this product being Angelica root (Angelica archangelica), however the scientific name on the package is Acornus calamus which is sweet flag. Sweet flag is known as an emitic, possible psychoactive, and contains ฮฒ-asarone (a known carcinogen). I'm not taking a chance

Good buy
Double sealed packaging, good strength aroma. I'm no die-hard botanist but seems like a good product to me. Note: Not pre-shredded, so probably produces better flavor/fragrance, but if your desired end product is shredded you'll have some extra work ahead.

Came as whole chunks
What i got was not cut and sifted. It came as whole chunks. It's not agelica root. It's calamus root

I recieved this angelica root and it's MOLDY! I can't even return it either.

Fresh Whole Roots
These angelica roots pieces come double packed, and a considerable amount of the aroma came through upon opening, with a bright, fresh scent. They are whole roots, so I had to bust out the old mortar and pestle to make them into a tea. The pieces were quite large, so they were a bit challenging to get ground, and after a long steeping time, it made a mild but bright tea. I could see how the flavor could be quite nice for seasoning dishes, as well, because it is quite fragrant, but with more scent than flavor. It is not flavorless, but the scent is more assertive. This takes a little bit more effort to use, but if you intend to use this as medicine, or want something that is very clearly just one thing, this is great.
