From Bustelo to Beautiful Crema! The CASABREWS Ultra Made My Best Home Espresso Yet
I received my CASABREWS Ultra Espresso Machine today thanks to Amazon’s next-day delivery, and after pulling my first double shot I felt compelled to write a review.I have been chasing the “perfect cup of coffee” at home for years. I have tried different drip machines, grinders, beans, and brewing methods. I have made many good cups of coffee, but nothing that truly made me stop and say wow. Today that finally happened. For my first test I used Café Bustelo espresso-style grind, which is a staple in many Latino homes across the United States. As Caribbean Latinos, strong coffee is part of our culture. From Cuban cortaditos to Dominican and Puerto Rican dark roasts, we like our coffee bold and full of flavor. There is even a saying in our folklore that a good cup of coffee is so strong it could revive a zombie. After my first shot with this machine, I can say the legend might actually be true. The first double espresso shot I pulled had everything I’ve been trying to achieve at home: rich aroma, a beautiful crema, and a bold but balanced flavor that reminded me of what you get in a good café.What impressed me most:• The 58 mm all-metal portafilter system feels solid and professional.• The machine heats up quickly and was ready to brew within minutes.• The extraction looked fantastic, with a steady flow and thick crema.• The controls are simple enough for beginners but still feel capable.I know this is considered a beginner-level machine, but if this is what a beginner machine can produce, I’m excited to continue learning and refining my technique. For anyone starting their espresso journey at home, this machine is a fantastic place to begin. It already produced the best coffee I’ve personally made in my kitchen, and it has me looking forward to improving my skills and eventually exploring more advanced equipment in the future. For now, I’m genuinely impressed. My espresso adventure has officially begun, and the first cup was a great one.

ULTA IS INCREDIBLE! DELICIOUS LATTES EVERY MORNING!
FANTASTIC Semi Automatic Espresso Machine! Been using this ultra for two months and enjoy it so much. I use to purchase really good lattes from local cafe’s every morning and now I make lattes that are very close to as good as the cafes. Lavazza crema Espresso Beans works well with this ultra machine. The standard portafilter that comes with this ultra machine with a puck screen added does pull a nice crema espresso using the Lavazza crema Espresso; however, a bottomless portafilter with a puck screen is a MUST to get the most espresso crema that is as almost as good as a coffee cafe. Beautiful & smooth crema the bottomless portafilter makes! I like that this machine has temperature settings & my espresso is very hot! The steamer is powerful and has temperature settings. I like a very hot latte! Water reservoir holds a week’s worth of water for me. A big tank. Awesome that espresso shots can be made back to back. No waiting time needed due to this machine quickly automatically self depressurizes after each shot. Can easily adjust the time of a shot pull with each shot and change the setting to pull a shot the same every time. MACHINE CLEAN UP IS SUPER QUICK, 2-3 minutes! The cup warmer on top really works perfectly. The Hot water feature is perfect too with temperature settings. I can’t say enough of good things about this semi automatic machine. It’s incredibly easy to operate. A good latte with this machine is all in obtaining good FRESH medium-dark espresso beans, the right grind setting, the right amount of grounds, the right tamper pressure, a barista milk and the length of the shot pull. The machine itself makes incredible espresso if everything else is done right. Took me a week to learn my preferred settings to save on the espresso ultra machine & the coffee bean grinder. Then , delicious lattes every morning with just what came with the machine using the Lavazza Crema whole beans.

Great Budget Starter Espresso Machine
Admitted espresso newbie here, but the machine is excellent. I had a fully automatic espresso machine before, but then found black liquid running into my coffee after 5 years . The internal brewing was all plastic, so I was looking for something with all metal and came across this machine. There are more well known brands and machines, but they cost double this price for entry level. The portafilter and baskets are all stainless steel and of great quality. The machine offers me enough flexibility to live out my barista dreams without overwhelming me - both in time and effort. Really thoughtfully designed, from the robust 2.2 liter tank to the large drip tray to the push button operation. It's also large enough to not walk off the counter, but compact enough to fit under my cabinets.I don't have a ton of time to pull 100 shots to experiment and "dial in" and do a lot of maintenance, and the Ultra is minimal effort compared to better established Italian brand buget offerings. To paraphrase a review I saw on YouTube, this machine is for people who are trying to maximize their dollar/quality per shot of espresso.NOTE: the machine will flush out excess water via a solenoid valve after pulling a shot, but not immediately. Wait about 20 seconds, you'll hear it flush and also see steam from the drip tray where it pushes the excess water. This has been criticized, but I appreciate, from a design standpoint, this also means you don't have to back flush the valve and will ensure longevity. Because this machine doesn't flush immediately after you stop the shot, there will be about 5 seconds of extra drip. If you anticipate that in your recipe, you'll be fine.

Great First Espresso Machine for the Money
This was my first real espresso machine and overall I’ve been pretty impressed with it for the price. It’s easy to use, heats up quickly, and gives you enough control over temperature and shot time to actually start learning how to dial in espresso.Once I paired it with a decent grinder and started using a bottomless portafilter, I was able to get some genuinely good shots out of it. Steam performance is also okay for making cortados and other smaller milk drinks. The biggest limitation is that as you get deeper into espresso, you start finding the limits of the machine. Temperature and extraction consistency aren’t at the level of a more expensive prosumer machine, and I eventually found myself wanting more control and consistency. That said, for around $200, I think it’s a very good entry point. It let me learn dosing, grind adjustment, yield and shot timing without spending $1,000+ on my first machine. I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth out of it.

10/10
Absolutely love this machine. Best investment I have made seriously. My husband got it for me and it saves me time, its so easy to use and it saves me money. It makes delicious espresso and for anyone who wants something easy to use this is the one to get.

A definite buy!
I purchased this in April 2025 and I absolutely love it. It pulls the perfect shot of espresso every time. Friends of mine have the really expensive brand machine and I think this tastes the same, if not better. It’s a definitely buy if you’re looking for a good espresso machine!! And super affordable, especially if you’re used to going to the coffee shop everyday.

Highly recommend. See Pros & Cons
If you have been extensively researching espresso machines, like I did, and are wavering on this one, you will not regret purchasing it.[two week review, update to follow]Pros:-once you dial in your espresso shot (grind size, grams amount, espresso, bean, preference, tamper, press, pressure, etc), the espresso shot has a beautiful crema and in my case, and prefer preference, a very rich, bitter, coffee-eh flavor.-heat up speed is less than 10 seconds. I noticed other reviews say heat up speed is a problem, however, I have not had that issue.-look and feel. Machine looks solid and nice on the countertop.-it’s just fun to use, period. I couldn’t even sleep the first week I got it, I was so excited to use it.Cons:-in my experience so far, the steamer is not very good which coincides with other reviews. The steamer heats up milk, but does not froth it from my research, it is possible to get right however it is difficult. I’m confident I can dial it in, but it will take practice. This is not too big of an issue because I prefer iced drinks. (Disclaimer: could be user error, I’m new to steaming).Unknown:-with something like an espresso machine, customer service is key. I have heard that their customer service is fantastic. I commented a question on one of their YouTube videos and did not get a reply, however, I do not believe this is indicative of their customer service because it’s a YouTube video.Overall:-I do really love the machine and I would recommend it. I would go further to say purchasing little upgrades such as a bottomless porter filter and a coffee grinder would make it even better. Not spending seven to $10 on an espresso drink a morning can justify that for me.

GREAT MACHINE FOR THE NOVICE ESPRESSO ENTHUSIAST– EXCELLENT PRICE POINT & VALUE!
This review is a very difficult one for me, as I have been delaying my review till I was more familiar with the machine and had obtained more knowledge in espresso making.**NOTE: I AM BY NO MEANS A BARISTA OR AN EXPERT ON ESPRESSO MAKING, BUT A NORMAL GUY THAT DECIDED HE DIDN’T WANT TO KEEP DONATING MONEY TO STARBUCKS FOR SOMETHING I COULD POSSIBLY DO AT HOME**With that caveat in mind, let's review this machine based on ease of use, skill level, support, and a growing understanding of the chase for the perfect espresso.USAGE: Pros vs. ConsPROs -First: This machine is awesome for the beginner! It is programmed from the start to get you into the espresso game and does a fantastic job.Second: The fact that comes with all the accessories that are necessary (well…minus the milk steaming cup) makes it an advantage for someone like me. It literally is a push-button away from an espresso (don’t ask if my first shot was good or bad…I am sure you can guess the answer). Out of the box, into the plug, add water, and off you go.Third: The simplicity of the machine is a big thumbs up, from a beginner's perspective.Fourth: Clean-up from a very limited mess with this machine is so easy and fast!Fifth: It is very nicely sized and counter-friendly if you are space-confined.Sixth: The YouTube videos that are provided are just amazing and give you some confidence in the process. Probably, a great idea to check those out before purchase.CONs –First: Really, no milk steaming cup. C’mon Casabrew.. I know you are attempting to keep this machine in its price point, but you can get these at a very low cost when purchased in bulk.Second: No grinder on the machine, in the box, or recommended. In the espresso world, the grind is KING, so this would be a negative for me. I was able to purchase pre-ground espresso from a local shop, as I waited for my grinder to arrive from Amazon.Third: The Machine only has 4 temperature settings, so you will not be able to dial in a higher temperature than pre-determined by the manufacturer. Understandable at this price point and now knowing the inner workings of this machine, but somewhat disappointing when your espresso shot gets cool quickly.Fourth: The Steam wand is functional; however, it does take some time to build up and “churn” the milk as needed. DO NOT think you are going to start making artistic designs immediately. It’s been months, and I still can't get this steam wand to produce the smooth, silky milk I need.Fifth: You get what you pay for, which is hard to say is a CON; however, once you start your journey, it will become obvious that you must make some life decisions about how much you really want to spend on the chase for the perfect espresso.SKILL LEVEL: Pros vs. ConsPROs –First: This machine is perfect for the novice (beginner), as it offers a very intuitive and comfortable process.CONs –First – This machine may frustrate an experienced Barista, as it is limited in options and functions.SUPPORT: Pros vs. ConsPROs –First: I know this company is relatively new in the market (as compared to other well-known established companies), but their Customer Support is beyond responsive and very knowledgeable about this machine and others. They will be there to help you in the process and answer any questions that arise. I felt very dumb asking some questions, and they responded with grace and provided answers without making me feel like they were “espresso-snobs”.CONs –**NONE** GREAT SUPPORT TEAM & MANY VIDEOS TO ASSIST!GROWING UNDERSTANDING OF PROCESS: SUMMARYI had no idea the complexity or the level to which some people take espresso making. I have even seen people on the internet with thousands of dollars tied up in machines that graph every detail. The fundamentals of the espresso making process really are simple: Fresch Ground Coffee, Proper Puck Preparation & Consistency in practice. As a continue to grow in my skill level and knowledge, I am starting to see how someone could really dive off a deep end in the espresso journey. I have read a ton of reviews on this machine and other and it is obvious that a lot of the reviews are where users are failing in areas that are not machine related. They fail in the fundamentals of preparing a proper dose and puck, but then blame the machine. Kinda funny that often “user error” is blame on “machine malfunction”.I highly recommend this machine for anyone looking to start at home espresso making and want to stay in the price range that is reasonable. Will you match those big coffee shops or the local barista shop? NOPE…they have invested thousands of dollars and hours; however, I can tell you that after only a few months my wife prefers my lattes over the big coffee stores and local shops. I hope this review helped in some small way. If you have any questions, please post them and I will do my best to answer them. Hey, thanks for reading this long review!

Excellent Customer Service and Support
I purchased a Casabrews Ultra in November 2025 and have been very happy with the machine. It’s excellent value, makes great espresso, is surprisingly quiet, is dialable and is user friendly (assuming you read the manual). The other reviews here provide details about the overall user experience – I’d like to comment on Casabrews strong customer service and support. After 7 – 8 months of daily espresso/latte use the main joint of the steam wand on my Ultra became extremely loose and the wand would no longer hold an optimal position for milk steaming. However, it continued to supply goodly amounts of steam and I was able to froth milk by developing a work-around.Last week I emailed Casabrews Customer Support and explained the situation. They responded a day later, apologized for the inconvenience and requested purchase information and a short video clip demonstrating the issue, which I sent.Three days later I received a follow-up note from Casabrews Customer Support in which the company once again expressed sincere apologies for the inconvenience and notified me that they were sending a new replacement machine, followed by shipping details etc.The new Casabrews Ultra arrived yesterday – 12 days after my initial email to Customer Support.Frankly, this is exceptional customer service, especially in this day and age. I’d like to commend Casabrews for the speed with which the company addressed my issue, and especially for how solidly they stand behind their products. Overall, my experience with Casabrews has been extremely positive, both with respect to the Ultra (which I love) as well as its Customer Support team and the way the company stands behind its products.

Wow... this machine makes better coffee than any coffee shop I have purchased from
I took so so long to decide on a new espresso machine! I didnt want all the bells and whistles like a coffee bean grinder so this brand was of interest plus great reviews. My very old Breville stopped working (pump wore out) and I got use to lousy latte's in the morning. Breville is a pretty good brand but my new Casabrew is so much better and the price difference between the brands is staggering. I have been experimenting with my Casabrew for about a week and today I have figured out how to make the best creamy espresso with steamed milk. Wow... its so good!!In the box comes a full colored recipe book too. I do find I need 2 hands to insert the Portafilter but its not a struggle and I'm old(er)... LOL The steamer is very strong and a wee bit noisy when it starts but does get quieter. My Breville never had that much power even when new so I'm surprised how good the milk creams up (takes me about 75 seconds). To get the steamer icon to show up on the display was a bit tricky at first but the added instructions on the machine helped a lot. Guess you can tell I love this purchase from a regular person who enjoys her latte in the mornings. Its a great machine so far :)

Decent budget espresso machine
I decided to try a different machine. Had a Breville Cafe Roma and was very happy with it but it started leaking. For the money they are hard to beat if you just want a decent espresso with no frills. This machine was on sale and about $60-$100 more than the Breville depending on sale price. First impression: it is a much nicer looking machine and looks to be better quality so hopefully durability is decent. It has an easy to read display, is programmable and is intuitive to use. After some trial runs I got the grind right and it makes a nice espresso. Default settings made a nice creamy brew, not burnt or weak though not as "creamy" as the Breville and needed to use a finer grind. I'm sure I can get it dialed in with some more adjustment as you can set the temperature and duration of a pull. I don't use the steam function often but tried it out. It was painfully loud to start but then did quiet down once the froth started to form. This is why it does not get a 5 star. The machine does NOT come with a frothing container so I used the small one I have. It was not ideal as it really started to splatter once the froth started to build. I'll pick up a larger one and see how that works. It made a nice latte but the froth was not that dense. This is where a more expensive machine is probably better if that's what you're after. For me I just want a good espresso and it delivers. The water tank is a good size, it doesn't take up too much counter space and looks nice. There is no built in grinder but for the money it is on par with machines that are two or three times the price. It is also easy to clean, especially the steam wand which I appreciated. *Update after a few months of use. Overall I like the machine though it has taken a bit of trial and error to get that nice rich creamy espresso consistently. The grind is critical and make sure to prime it by running the hot water for at least 5 seconds before a pull. I like the larger water tank and overall it's a nice looking machine and build quality is good for this price point. If you are on a budget though and want a no frills espresso machine the Breville Cafe Roma is still hard to beat though.

This machine makes it affordable to brew an excellent espresso! WELL DONE CASABREWS!
This machine delivers, if you are an espresso enthusiast! What surprised me most was the “TRULY RECOMMEND TO READ” manual, well done CASABREWS! To be able to adjust the extraction temperature, in three simple steps and monitor and adjust the extraction time/espresso volume also very easy, makes this machine to a clear winner! I certainly can recommend this espresso machine, also the build quality is great, particularly considering the price tag.
