Why did you pick this product vs others?: The handset connected to the base easily. It works as expected. Even the batteries are included. Great value and a good buy for replacing a failed handset for my phone system.

Limitations to success on use of PNGTA2870VA/PNLC 1047 Panasonic charging unit with handset
We have the KX-TGE40 Panasonic phone system with three handsets, KX-TGA40 models. One them ceased working, battery change/battery recharge didn't help. I consulted Panasonic and they assured me that a Panasonic charger marked with PNGTA2870VA and PNLC 1047 would be compatible with our system. That is true with an exception. The latter charging unit and handset work together, yes, and the new unmarked handset does charge at the base station. However, the other two handsets cannot be recharged on the new charger. Had I to do this over, I would simply get an entirely new system, because the present situation is a pain.

My new handset is even better than the one that came with my original base.
This new handset is even better than the one that came with my original base. For the past few years, I've been complaining that the charge on the original didn't last long. For that reason, I held off on buying an adjunct handset. But recently my home received an updated modem and router for the electronic/internet system, so I no longer have old-time phone jacks to use. As a result, I needed an additional handset that will just plug into an electrical outlet, and ordered this. The charge for the new handset, which is identical to the original, lasts 2-3 days or more. So now I think the problem was a poor quality or defective battery that came with the original base and handset. So my current plan is to get a new battery for the original handset. It seems that either handset can recharge in whichever base it ends up at. Back to loving Panasonic phones.
