Softer than anticipated but good.
EDIT: Although this mattress is nice, my roommate ordered the "Linenspa 8 Inch Memory Foam and Innerspring Hybrid Mattress - Medium-Firm Feel" and I am so jealous!!! Though a few more dollars, it just FEELS higher quality, sturdy, more plushtop but better firmness of the mattress. Quality to last. Overall it seems to be way more comfortable than the mattress I ordered since it feels a little more dense and thoughtfully constructed. When I need a new mattress in future years I will be considering the Linenspa one. Still think 4 stars is fair for the Zinus, but the Linenspa is a solid 5-- if not 6. ** original review: ** Super nice packaging, felt like it was a quality product. When it fully expanded it was maybe 7 or 7.5 inches depending on where I took the measurement, but I'm still pleased with it even though I recommend making sure a fitted sheet has those secondary elastics to keep it tight on smaller mattress heights. The memory foam top is a little misaligned so the side ribbing is slightly funny where the cover seam edges should border the whole mattress. I previously had a firm Ikea mattress that was pretty dang firm; this mattress is softer than I anticipated, but it is good even though I am getting used to it. The springs definitely provide movement not just up and down but a little side to side too, so I'd say it's on the lower-mid end of medium firmness. I find the memory foam topper comfortable in terms of feel, but it stays a little hot in the summer, I wouldn't necessarily call this 'cooling' at all. I'm sure this will stay cozy in winter, though. It was very easy to expand by myself. Overall, I'm not sure this mattress is 100% for my preferences, but I am not disappointed I bought it and I would probably buy it or another style from this company because it seems like good quality especially for a boxed mattress and good for the price, too.

3.5 stars
It’s a cheap mattress but it’s pretty comfortable. Doesn’t cause me any major aches or pains. It’s super quiet (not that I participate in squeaky bed activities) but I’ve had beds that talk back when I’m just trying to get comfortable while scrolling TikTok. This mattress doesn’t disrespect me like that. Not a peep when I’m tossing and turning to get into just the right spot. It never fully expanded but that’s because I didn’t give it enough time to. It was either sleep on the half formed mattress or the floor. It wasn’t a hard decision for me and I have zero regrets that it never had a chance to grow to it’s fullest potential. Guess it should’ve pulled up it’s bootstraps and worked harder. Lastly, I sleep in every position. Back, side and stomach. This bed works for all. When I’m on my side, my arm doesn’t go numb. Win. When I’m on my back, my lower back and hips only give a slight whimper of discomfort but they quickly get with the picture and remember this mattress cost less than $200. When I lay on my stomach, I feel fine and safe in the world (so maybe this bed is actually best for stomach sleepers). Onto the cons: I only have one. It holds heat like a furnace. I’m sweating so much in my sleep now. I got my hair done the day after I purchased this mattress. $125 to look like chucky the next morning. That one cut me deep. Overall, I do recommend this mattress and if I had to do it all over again…I wouldn’t get my hair done and then sleep with it out and flowing (pretending to be some type of Sleeping Beauty) on this mattress. There’s something so hurtful about falling asleep looking like a pretty princess and waking up the star of a horror film. That’s why I rate this mattress 3.5 stars. I can’t forgive anyone (or thing) that’s messes up my fresh blowout. (TLDR; I would rebuy the mattress if I could afford nothing else. If I could afford better, I would go down that route instead because my hair is more important to me than saving a few coins purchasing a cheaper but seemingly heated mattress) Update 11/02/2024 I’ve now had this bed for over a year! Changed my review to 4 stars. I was wrong about it sleeping hot. It doesn’t. I believe it felt like it was hot before because I was using polyester sheets 😬. I’m now team 100% cotton and it’s never felt hot since. Mattress is still going strong. I literally rot in my bed for hours a day when I have nothing going on and it’s so comfortable to do that. No body pains when I get up. There is some denting in the middle from my bed rotting but nothing crazy. It hasn’t taken away from the comfort. Overall, great bed. Definitely recommend! Update March 30, 2026 We’re almost 3 years deep. Still going strong. Still doing what it needs to do. I’ll never regret buying this bed and I’ll be a little sad when we finally part. But for now, I’ll continue to get good sleep and enjoy my bed rotting.

READ BEFORE YOU BUY
Today is 5/3/2024. I purchased the Zinus 10" Foam and Spring Mattress on 5/23/2024. I probably got it a few days later. My point is, it has not even been a full year since I purchased and began using this mattress. At first, everything seemed ok. I figured that there were so many reviews, so this probably was a good buy. WRONG. Things were fine for the first three-four months. Then the springs would SPROING! every so often while I was laying in bed. It's pretty disturbing when that happens- it's kind of a jolt! I also want to mention that I am a rotater and a flipper. Every month I rotate, and then next time I flip and do the same again. This is to prevent sagging in the one area I seem to only sleep in. So, the sproinging started up, and that was bothersome, but not terribly so to make me actually do anything about it. But a few months later, the sagging really started to be noticeable. Like, I could feel myself rolling down into the pit of sagging despair. It wasn't just on the one side, it was on all the sides. I think this might be the foam degrading- which it shouldn't be doing after such a short period. It's only one average size woman sleeping in this bed and I'm not bedridden- it's 7-9 hours max a night. A few months ago I had enough. I couldn't even remember how old the mattress was, and this was what prevented me from being fully motivated to doing anything about it- I think I thought the bed was older than it was. I don't even remember what I was doing a year ago, and I don't remember getting the mattress or setting it up- it just feels like it was much longer ago than it was. But, I keep seeing these ads on TikTok and IG for these Nectar adjustable beds and I'm like- god, my old bag of dust mites bed really sucks...I should do something about it. That's when I looked the order up and was shocked and surprised when I saw how recently I had purchased this bed. As a reminder- it is LESS than one year old. I was like- sweet- it must still be under the one year warranty- problem solved. I emailed the seller and told them what was up. They asked me to send pics. I sent pics. Then they asked for more pics, I sent pics. Then they asked me to strip the bed, flip the dang mattress and take a pic of the tag. I sent a pic of the one tag. BUT THERE WAS A SECOND TAG. And this tag was removed. What in the name of sleep number is going on here? Everyone knows that the tags are allowed to be removed from items by the consumer, even when they say it's against the law. I mean, I googled this, and you can, too. But NO. Zinus says that since their tag was removed it voided the warranty and this ten month old mattress was my problem to deal with. Look, this piece of crap only cost $150. So it isn't the end of the world. You might say I got what I paid for, and I would now agree. But at the time, that was my budget and the reviews convinced me this was a solid product and I assumed any company worth their salt would stand by a mattress LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. If my mattress was 5 years old, I could understand this. BUT IT IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. There is seriously NOTHING outside of me taking a machete to this thing and slicing it up that should preclude this company from standing by their product. If this thing cost me $150, then it cost them around $100. I guess for a measly hundo, they get to have a very unhappy customer who happens to have nothing better to do this weekend than to write reviews about how bad this product is and post it on amazon and all my other sm. If I prevent one person from not buying this mattress, that will have cost this shady company more than it would have to just do the right thing and take their saggy mattress back and replace it. This makes no sense! There is a reason why mattresses don't cost $150. It's because a quality mattress costs more than $100 to produce, even if you use elementary school-age kids in some third world country to make them. The cost of freight alone makes this impossible. I work for a commercial furniture dealer and we are in the process of importing 3 containers of custom casegoods from China. I know exactly how much this costs. I should have known better but again- the reviews- and I could afford$150! You absolutely get what you pay for. For comparison, the average name brand mattress sold in the US has a warranty of 10-20 years. Some even offer lifetime warranties. The average life span is closer to 7-8 years. I will end up spending twice as much if I have to buy a new mattress every 10-12 months if I continue to buy this mattress. Imagine the waste in the landfill if me and just a few other people go thru a mattress a year! Plus, I have to deal with disposing this thing, which isn't free, and it is a pain in the backside to haul it downstairs and to the alley. I'm going to a mattress store this weekend. There are a million of them around, and I will just go and check out a few. I need to shell out at least $400-500 and get a decent product. Good sleep is probably more important than the food you eat. I just can't take it anymore. If you are a college student who doesn't plan to take their furniture with them every summer when you leave your apartment, perhaps this is a good idea for you. I still think it is horribly wasteful and terrible for our environment, but I can understand if you live across the country and unable to store it or move it back with you on the plane. Or if you are very low income (been there- kinda am there still), and you absolutely cannot get anything better, I understand that, too. But if you are a regular person with stable housing, a relatively decent income and want to buy a mattress that you can count on for good restful sleep, you need to really consider not purchasing from this company. If only because it is absolute nonsense they wouldn't stand by their $100 product that is less than a year old even when presented with evidence that it is bad. And if you must deal with this mattress and seller, for the love of stearns + foster, DON'T REMOVE THE BLOODY TAG!

Buyer beware! Consolidated reviews so overall score is misleading depending on the model. Mine: 8in spring/"foam"
I regret ordering this! These reviews are not all the same. The company and item line name is but the models are not so many of these reviews can be easily confused. For example, one person can "love" the Zinus mattress but if you look at their pics, it maybe the hybrid or 12in. The feedback gets lumped into the same listing period. When I did research the ones specific to the one I was looking at, opinions vary widely. I do mean WIDELY. This review is for the 8in Spring with "foam", full sized. Cons: - Those who said this was medium firm may have been comparing this to a box spring with a thin comforter on top or Plymouth Rock. This sucker is firm alright. I don't even feel that "Foam layer" under that padded quilting. You are laying on covered springs in my opinion. Let's be more specfic: I am 5'7", average and proportionate active body at about 160 lbs. I typically side sleep but can sleep on my back. I bought this for my 4 year old but sometimes he asks us or we snuggle with him. Besides, wouldn't you be curious about the new mattress anyways? - whatever it is, material odor has not dissipated in 2 days so far - compared to my old Sleepy's mattress, the dimensions are slightly larger because regardless o my measurements, it still fit into the fram snugly while my old one just dropped in nicely. - NO MANUFACTURER SUPPORT YET. Clicked the link to the website and it listed as "Page Not Found" on their very own site!! - How do you return this? Dunno, trying to figure that out now. Sent Amazon (since it was sold by Amazon Services LLC) a message saying the item was possibly damaged during shipping (box end was hastily re-taped and dragged. One corner is misaligned and I cannot realign fabric to stay covering that coil corner - maybe just shoddy craftmanship?). UPS will not take the mattress when I asked a handler which is true. If you think of it, the original shipping was roll/packed and now you're trying to return with a fully opened one where you don't have the equipment to compress, vacuum seal and roll it? - besides, you'll be dragging ~75 compacted pounds. FYI - If I can't get a resolution from Amazon or Zinus - hahah - then I'll calling AMEX to dispute this crap Pros: - roll packing concept is neat vs the old school on top of the truck/car method. Yep, that's all for the Pro. I have to really wonder how this particular 8" model got even that many "great" reviews. I don't normally pick items that have less than 15 great reviews because that's shady in my opinion. Are there that many people transitioning from a rock to this mattress???? I will update if Amazon resolves this situation. Right now, i will depend on them because it seems Zinus maybe one of those "fly by nighters" made in a foreign country. Buyer beware! Update: Amazon CS resolved my issue! The rep was excellent. I wish I recall her name right now so I can give her a proper shout out but she was friendly and worked with I guess her supervisor to authorize the refund and make things right. Thank you. CS gets a 5 star, the mattress stays at a 1 though.

A decent mattress for the money
After reading product reviews for mattresses in pretty much every price category, and realizing that no matter how much a person spent average satisfaction never went over the satisfaction rating for this mattress, I decided to give it a try. I'm from the old school when mattresses could easily last 10 years or more and have mainly been frustrated by sagging issues of several mattresses we've purchased since the introduction of pillow tops and memory foam including the inability to flip (not just turn) the mattresses which helps prolong wear. Sure the comfort is great at first until you are inevitably sleeping in a furrow which seems to start sometime in the first year, which is just unacceptable. So my strategy in purchasing this mattress was to essentially build my own, starting with the springs which is all this pretty much is with a thin layer of foam padding. I've read all kinds of reviews about how this is just as comfortable as a high end mattress and sorry but that's a little crazy, it's not even as comfortable as the $400-500 pillowtop mattress that started failing after only a year of use and is not so great anymore for my back. But this mattress is nice and flat and that's a plus. The springs are firm but have just a bit of give to conform to the body. And if they can hold over time, we can add a pillow top or memory foam layer over it to create a more comfortable mattress. This way if one of the two go soft or saggy we'll only have to replace one. And given that the springs don't have much of a "top" layer I assume I'll be able to flip it (as I'll be able to flip the top layer) independently of one another to hopefully prolong the life and comfort. Only time will tell but if this doesn't work out longer term the only option left will be an air mattress, which are probably the only ones that don't suffer from sagging issues but are super expensive. A word of caution about the packaging, it is well labeled in regard to opening it but definitely didn't prepare us for how the mattress would literally spring up off the box spring where we were opening it when I cut the last piece of the plastic packaging it comes shipped in. Also, be prepared to give a tip to the delivery person (if you're so inclined) because they are actually quite heavy and I regretted not having a five ready to give to the guy who had to load it and then bring it to my door.
