Navy Seals Vs. Zombies [DVD] [2017]

It was obviously made in a hurry....
The Vice President of the USA has gone missing in Baton Rouge where there has been an unexpected uprising with reports of terrible violence. It soon becomes clear that there is some type of zombie plague responsible and a crack team of Navy Seals is despatched to extract the VP from the area. This isn't a bad idea for a zombie film and the story is actually reasonably coherent, with satisfactory explanation given for the outbreak, a fair story of the Navy Seals being dropped in, executing their mission and then being evacuated out. It also has a real ending which ties everything up quite well. But unfortunately the idea didn't translate nearly as well to screen as it could have. The issue would most likely have been budget (or lack thereof). The whole production screams 'rushed' and pretty much everything feels cheap. It's a shame as there are a few reasonable actors who just weren't able to do anything much with their roles. The digital effects are surprisingly ordinary (lots of really fake black smoke on display and terrible digital blood regularly being sprayed over the camera lens) and worst of all the zombies almost look like an afterthought. The Director seems to have forgotten that it is important to make sure the zombies behave in a certain way but a lot of the time they just seem like a group of confused people running around. Probably a more experienced Director would have helped this production a lot.The disk has both Dolby Stereo and 5.1 Surround tracks and the 5.1 I listened to was adequate but hardly inspiring. The awful score didn't help the situation here.
