We don't get that many really hot days and nights here in Blighty, but when we do, I find it pretty uncomfortable trying to sleep at night. Times like that have for a long time made me wish for one of those ceiling fans that people in hotter countries own. Now that I've had a chance to try one out myself, I can understand why they have them, because it makes life a lot more comfortable!The fan is securely boxed and surprisingly light, which is a bonus - it makes mounting it to a plasterboard ceiling that much more easy. Finding a joist to secure to is always nice, but not completely necessary in this instance, and the load is spread across a wide area courtesy of the large backplate they supply. I attached it to my plasterboard with my own Fischer fixings, which are better than the plugs supplied. I also used my own wiring connectors for the same reason.Once fitted, the light can be controlled by the remote, or alternatively a smartphone app. Usefully, the remote has a holder, so I attached that at the side of the bed, where it's easily accessible and will not get lost. Batteries are not included so you'll need to find your own - not a hardship as I like to use my own rechargeables anyway.The light is very effective, and I appreciate being able to change the colour temperature. Warm white always feels nicest to me, especially in a bedroom, and the dimming feature is great too. The fan is the best part, and mounted over the bed it gives us a lovely gentle breeze that feels so refreshing on hot and stuffy nights. It makes sleeping far easier, and stops me waking up in a pool of sweat! The fan does make a noise, but this doesn't bother me, and in fact, the constant hum masks other random noises from the street, so it actually helps, in the same way that using a white noise machine (which I also own) can help with sleeping.The fan can be set to rotate either way, blowing air down or sucking it upwards. Either way, it circulates the air in a donut shape, and on cold days it can push warmer air back down to floor level. So this fan is handy not just in the summer.

What a good innovation, being able to control your fan from your mobile, wow. Setting it up onto your app was a little finicky but after a couple of attempts, was added. After this it was simply a case of choosing what you want and the fan did.Installation should be done by a professional or if you're good with DIY and not afraid of heights, then this will be simple. Suggest getting some goggles as there will be a level of dust, especially in old houses.Comes with an easy to mount ceiling bracket and connectors for you to wire up to your existing connections.I can totally agree with the functionality of this fan, it certainly offers a good amount of cool air and will cool your room in no time. Quiet running too.For lighting, this offers enough lighting for most averaged sized rooms.The room this was installed in is 9ft by 9ft and ceiling height is just under 10ft and lights up the whole room. In fact you may need to dim the lights, great for quite cosy evenings.I really liked the dimming and speed control from both the app and the remote control.

The media could not be loaded. The fan light comes very well packed avoiding any damage in transit. In the box is the light, a fitting kit, the remote control (batteries not included) ans the fitting instructions.Having read the instructions the firsy thing I noticed was that the instructions wire description did not match the wires on the light unit, that said the actual wires are very clearly labelled.The fitting kit has a good choice of fittings but for my installation I chose to use some fittings I already had. I used coarse threaded plasterboard plugs to secure the light to the ceiling and I used WAGO connectors for the wiring as I do not like wire nuts especially on 240V curcuits.Choices made installation was easy taking less than 30 minutes.The light itself is excellent providing plenty of light for my room - it is also fully adjustable - the brightness can be altered as well as the warmth of the light.The fan is pretty quiet especially on the lowest setting - it does get noisier the faster it spins but nothing too outrageous, again it is fully adjustable with 6 speed settings, it can be set to blow air or draw air and finally it can be set to 'oscillate' - it's not really oscillating which implies backward and forward but it rotates altering the direction the airflow is moved in. Use this feature to move the direction the fan is pointed in - if it is needed to point in a particular direction.There are 2 methods of control - either use the supplied remote (batterries required) or download the app (easy to install and setup) The remote does come with a mounting bracket so if used the remote is always where it should be.The advantage of the app is that once setup you can easily set it up on other family members phones by allowing them to scan a 2D code which will tranfer an image or your app settings to their phone.There is also a timer functio so it can be set to run for an hour or two at bedtime.I really like this light/fan unit - it was comparatively painless to install - it is quiet , the fan does not vibrate in operation and the whole thing is easy to control.As it is can be wifi controlled Alexa ( or other home automation) integration would be great and maybe an RGBIC light stip to allow even greater choice of lighting would be the cherry on the cake (at least for me)Really good value to keep your room cool if we get more hot weather.I did contact their customer support with a couple of questions related to the app and they were very quick to respond and supply a solution to my question.
