Joby Magnetic Tripod with Universal Smartphone Tripod Mount Adapter for Point and Shoot, Compact System Cameras, Action Cameras and Smartphones

I almost returned this "Magnetic Tripod with Universal Smartphone Tripod Mount Adapter" because I received a selfie stick when I expected a cellphone holder. Well guess what? The selfie stick includes in the package the cellphone adapter clamp I wanted, with a 1/4" thread for any tripod, plus the telescoping selfie wand as a bonus! How nice to get more than you asked for!

The Joby magnetic tripod is unreal I tell you. I cut the top part off so that I would be able to attach a flashlight to it. I use it everyday for work. I am an inspector and the use for a flashlight is my main tool and when I don’t have enough hands the Joby is there for me. It helps me just place the light to everything and with it being a tri pod it is that much sturdier since sometimes space goes hand in hand with my job. At times I am laying on my back and trying to take measurements and because it is magnetic I don’t have to worry about it falling and it is super trust worthy.Besides the fact that it is magnetic the legs can move and you can maneuver it onto anything. That is like an extra bonus because if you aren’t able to use the magnets then you can just find something that it can wrap its legs on and you are back in business! There also a locking feature on this but it doesn’t work too well. The top still moves and if you don’t tighten it back here and there the top will come off. So be sure to check on that now an then but I was actually thinking of just super gluing the top so the attachment doesn’t come off. But other than that when I am at work a lot of my co workers use it! It was a great buy for my line of work!

First, let me get the positive out of the way: Like all gorillapod tripods, this device is a great compact way of supporting small cameras and devices when wrapped around a railing, tree branch, etc. It is the quality I've come to expect from Joby, and that hasn't changed. The magnets are mostly useless, as they aren't really strong enough by themselves to hold up even the smallest camera, but they do help prevent the tripod from rotating when wrapped around something like a metal railing. Just don’t expect to be able to have the tripod stand straight out from your refrigerator with a camera attached to the other end.Now the bad: the phone holder that comes with this device is not the Joby GripTight Mount for phones, which works great for holding a variety of devices. Instead, it is a phone holder made by a company called "ivation", and it is vastly inferior to the Joby one. Unlike the Joby GripTight, it doesn't fold up into a flat package, it is difficult to install and remove large phone such as the iPhone 6+ or HTC 10, and it is so wide that it interferes with the phone’s volume buttons. Furthermore, the tripod is not strong enough to hold the larger phones, such as the iPhone 6+, that are listed in the description without sagging. Get the genuine "GripTight GorillaPod Stand For Large Phones" instead.

A friend of mine uses a Joby and could not recommend it enough, and now I see why. I bought this to use mainly as a way to hold my phone (iPhone 6) for live videos on social media. It's bendable legs and magnetic feet are absolutely perfect. It's a little smaller than I had originally expected, but the articulating joints are extremely strong and it holds my phone without any issue. The magnets in the feet are also extremely strong. You can feel the legs pull towards the metal surface, almost as strong as rare earth magnets, and once attached, this baby isn't going anywhere. I've not attached anything else to this yet, but I imagine it would have no trouble at all holding my GoPro camera or any compact camera on the market. However If you're looking for a solution to hold anything heavy, such as a full size DSLR, I would look at a larger version. All in all, I am happy with my purchase!

I almost gave this 4 stars the little tripod does what it's suppose to do. The smartphone holder is not designed for large smart phones like the iPhone 6 plus. It works with the larger phones but if you watch the phone will slip out of the universal holder which could be very bad depending on where it is. The magnets are not strong enough for a large smart phone or a smart phone with extended battery. They just don't seem to have the strength. Where this little tripod became a jewel is with my GoPro. This thing is perfect for the GoPro and holds it well. I use it for timelapse vides and have not been disappointed yet.

I ordered this tripod for myself and I was super happy with it. Unfortunately my family also really liked it, so I had to get three more tripods.Features:- Red magnetic feet, they stick to all kinds of metals and are strong enough for all kinds of weather/wind. Sometimes it is a little hard to get them off with one hand since the magnetic force is so strong.- The three legs bend easy enough to use on all kinds of surfaces and are sturdy enough to hold any of my one-shot cameras. (iPhones, Sony, Canon Powershot, Casio, Lumix)- The universal smartphone mount is okay, the original of Joby feels better, but I cannot complain, as this one was free and come with the tripods at no extra cost.Recommendation: I (will buy) have bought it again multiple times!

I chose the product by the picture and description....I ordered this twice and returned it twice.... the product on Amazon was to have a quick release plate..... both units I received had the ball head that did not move..... I specifically ordered the quick release..... I have had the unit with the quick release for many years and I love it.....but with many years of use the legs have weakened and wanted to replace it with the same unit...If you want a ball head that is great but it does not move easily....The quick release is much simpler..

If you’re hestitating, don’t. This thing is small but very durable and stiff. Also, the magnetic feet are actually quite powerful and quite useful in many situations! I use it to record my jam sessions with my zoom recorder.

The tripod is great. Very useful for holding GoPro or cell phone - either in a normal orientation or wrapped around something using the segmented legs.The included cell phone holder is okay.

Perfect size for cameras, phones and attaching to stuff for stability in shooting.

The magnetic tripod itself is great. But the actual phone holder is flimsy and the springs got dislodged after a couple of uses

Perfect for my needs, close up photos of metal ship hulls.
