No frills, solid unit
I picked the Wahoo over Polar and Garmin as already have the ELMNT bike computer and I like the feel of the whole Wahoo vibe. I had the MK1 HRM but it got lost in a house move, so was happy to upgrade. The lights are a welcome addition to indicate Bluetooth connection & HR being detected! Done a few gym sessions with the HRM so far and its performed as expected. Solid. Need to remember to wet the two sensors on the belt to help with conductivity. Unit seems to be bang on for accuracy, it's comfortable and well put together like the rest of the Wahoo product set. Looking forward to taking it out on the bike and putting it thru the paces for a few hours.

Unreliable, inaccurate and low quality
I am reviewing this after a year of ownership and use. I don’t believe most other reviews are after a long period of use. I have now replaced the device with a Garmin HRM.The device worked without fault for the first month or so.After one month, I started to notice drops of 10-20 bpm every so often. These would happen approximately every to minutes and would take about 45 seconds to recover properly. After three months, the slider to adjust the size of the strap became brittle and snapped, leaving a sharp edge digging into my back.Four to five months in, the data logging started becoming very poor. It seemed to default at 121 bpm regardless of exertion. Only once I had unclipped it and reclipped did it start recording properly to only drop out to 0 and re-record. I also experienced it randomly peaking ~5bpm above my heart rate.Six months in, it struggled to detect any heart rate activity and, therefore, would not connect.Eight months in and it would record my heart rate, consistently, at 225bpm. My post session graph would be a flat line of 225bpm.Ten months in, I did a 2k test with the monitor. The heart rate it gave me bear no resemblance to anything. Completely inaccurate.Twelve months in, it struggles to detect any activity, drops out mid session and peaks randomly. It completely stopped working at this point.Throughout the year, I noticed a buildup of corrosion around the contact points of the chest strap and the monitor unit. Cleaning it with alcohol provided a temporary fix. I only ever washed the strap with baby shampoo. The monitor had about 150 hours of hard use and over 500 hours of low intensity.

Great value for a great heart monitor.
I was told I should not run but I have been running (jogging) with a monitor on my watch and it bleeps when it thinks I run too fast. However, I appreciate that that isn't accurate but I did decide to switch to cycling. This Wahoo TICKr heat monitor is excellent value. I had a polar one years ago and that was £200, this nis less than £4r0.Straight out of the box it activated and I was able to add it, via an app to both my iPhone and my recently purchase Wahoo Bolt.It is the second version of the TOCKR and from all accounts there are only a few small changes ie shape. It comes with instructions and the belt which clips to the monitor and is easy to fit to your chest.Once I had connected up - dead easy I went for a short ride. The monitor checks your heart rate and shows up on the Wahoo Bolt. It starts off with your heart rate at a grey level then green [- good, amber - be careful and I suspect red for over doing it, but I only reached the amber.Once back home you can down load to a number of tracking/training apps - I use Strava and the details of your heart rate can be seen there, on the Wahoo app on your phone or from the download off the Bolt.Very pleased with it and it will certainly help me keep out of the red and still get fitter.

So far, so good…
I had the previous and original version of this. That one had one of the snap buttons break off and Wahoo replaced the strap under warranty. Then less than a year later it became erratic and even changing the battery did not fix it. So less than three years of total use only on an indoor trainer.I had Polar chest straps that lasted many years and I would simply upgrade by choice, not out of necessity.I was hesitant of getting another product from Wahoo but thought I’d give it one more chance. It’s only been about 3-4 months and so far, so good.We shall see the longevity on this one. If I find this one starting to act up I will update this review.

Excellent Heart Rate Monitor for Cycling
I was previously using a Fitbit for heart rate data while cycling, but found it to be very inaccurate. I think the optical sensor did not work well for me. The Wahoo TICKR is so much better. The data is accurate and the strap is comfy. I am quite slight, but it does not slip down even though it is not overly tight. Once it’s on I forget it’s there, which is great. It is also quite flat and pairs easily with my Wahoo bike computer, so I would definitely recommend it.The order arrived quickly from Amazon, but I think the box had already been opened. This has been the case on a few of my purchases from Amazon, so I am usually reluctant to purchase things from them, but as the TICKR was out of stock everywhere else I had to get it from Amazon.

Does the job and does it well
I'm on my 2nd TICKR after losing the first... The metal buttons for the strap won't be for everyone (think nickel etc. allergies) but it doesn't bother me. Accurate by my own estimations (double-duty with a BP monitor to prove it) and fits the bill no matter what sport I'm doing.

Better than Garmin HR sensor (So far)
I purchased Wahoo heart rate censor to replace my Garmin sensor. I have two issues with Garmin's: (1) you have to unscrew the case to replace the battery, and the quality of the screws were not good, which made replacing the battery unnecessarily complicated, (2) the connection with my Garmin Edge 530 was not stable (sometimes the sensor wasn't recognized by Garmin's own cycling computer!) (3) There's no indicator that gives information about the status (active, connecting...). This makes the battery life longer, but, together with shaky connection, it was impossible to know what is going on, when it is not recognized.I used for several times so far... my impression has been very good. (1) Obviously I haven't replaced the battery, but the cap for the battery can be easily opened with a coin, which is a huge advantage over Garmin. (2) I did a couple of cycling wrides ith Garmin Edge 530, a run and a tennis session with Apple Watch. In both times, the connection has been very stable and reliable. Wahoo sensor was immediately linked to Garmin Edge 530 (via ANT+) or Apple Watch (via Bluetooth). (3) The LED indicators are very useful in knowing the status of the sensor. I am sure that the battery life is shorter due to the indicators, but the batteries are so cheap I don't mind. And as I mentioned above, replacing a battery is a breeze.A couple of more comments: In terms of accuracy, I compared with the heart rate log by Garmin and the long by Wahoo when I ride the same course, and they reported very similar numbers, so I think they are both accurate. The elastic band is very similar in terms of material. Both are comfortable, and easy to adjust.I think this is a much better product than Garmin, and am happy that I switched. I might update after using a few months.
