Are the cables braided, twisted or neither?

Not sure of the internal design but it's the best cable for the money I've ever seen though.

can this cable be used for bose acoustimass series speakers, and not just for subwoofers?

I also have a bose system. My bose satellite speakers have a positive and a negative terminal so I guess I would have to cut one end off the cable but I am not sure what type of wire is inside i.e.. speaker wire vs rg6 Check out monoprice.com They have a lot of different cables at cheap prices. Is this RCA on both end?

Yes. You connect one end to the LFE on your subwoofer and the other end to the subwoofer output on your received. Hope this help.

Would there be any signal loss at 50ft?

I purchased the 8 ft. Ultra Series model, so I do not have first hand experience with the 50 ft. length. However, I did read several reviews on that cable, and they were quite positive on the 50 ft. model. Check out the reviews. The reason I bought the Mediabridge ULTRA sub cable was to get rid of the "hum" that I was having with my sub-woofer. I had tried other solutions, but they did not work. After the install of this cable, the problem was solved! Glad I bought it.
