If you are looking for a large tote bag similar to the size of a large, brown, paper grocery bag, this is not the goodie bag for you. There are no side gussets to allow for expansion; it is a flat bag that was made by folding one piece of fabric in half and closing the side seams. The size is perfect for children who range in age from approximately four to nine years old. It's also a good size for any child who has a fairly short trick-or-treating route.The bag is made of sturdy canvas. The opening of the bag was finished by folding the raw edge to the inside of the bag and securing it with top stitching. The opening is roomy enough to allow people to easily drop treats into the bag. The handles are made of the same canvas as the bag and appear to be securely sewn. They are long enough for a child to carry over one shoulder while walking from one house to the next. The bag is printed on both sides with a smattering of candy treats and stars, a smiling spider that's dangling from its web, and a cute ghost that's wearing a witch hat and holding a pumpkin. The words, "Trick or Treat" are printed on both sides too. In total, the image is charming and not at all frightful to young trick-or-treaters. I don't plan to launder the goodie bag until after its first use on Halloween, so I cannot judge how well it holds up to agitating and spinning in my washing machine. Because I don't know if the bag is colorfast and/or subject to shrinkage, I plan to wash and rinse it on the cold-water cycle and air dry.

This bag is adorable. Canvas is strong. Even an adult can use it. I will let my teenager use it for trick or treating.
