Worth the money, and they work great!
I suffer from Big Toe Joint pain in both feet, but especially in my right foot. This is a result of the connective tissue being worn away between the toe joints, leading to bone on bone friction. At the suggestion of my orthopedist last year, I bought one carbon fiber insert (another seller through Amazon with a product called Onujo fiber insole) to put into my right shoe, so that my right foot toes don't bend when walking. It did the trick. The insert took the pressure off my right toe, because it stayed stable, so almost no pain. I did need a soft insert (e.g., like a Dr. Scholl's gel insert) over the carbon fiber insert because I needed some padding to protect my heel and sole from the carbon fiber's hard surface. I felt sometimes on my right foot that I was walking like Frankenstein, just plopping my foot down, because the foot didn't bend when it hit the ground. Unfortunately, the pain got so bad this year that I had surgery to fuse my Big Toe. Now it really doesn't bend at all, so no friction and no pain, and the carbon fiber insert keeps my right foot flat. Since my left Big Toe pain is now getting worse, I decided to get another carbon fiber insert to see if that would help me postpone surgery for that foot. I went with this vendor because I got two inserts compared to the price of the one I bought last year. So far, so good. These inserts appear to be identical in every way except for the price, and hopefully they keep me walking and pain-free for a good, long time.

Recommend
My ortho doctor recommended these. Iโve developed arthritis & beginning of bone spurs in the bones on the top of my foot. These are a firm, rigid PLATE that keep your shoe from bending at the toe & ball of foot thus relieving pressure farther up the foot. They are NOT a soft, comfy, arch support. That is not their purpose. They help prevent flexing of the toes/ball of foot & in doing so yes, your heel rises out of your shoe a little. Takes some gtg used to cuz it makes your shoe rigid & they prevent you from pushing off from the toe area as you walk. I ordered my shoe size & they fit perfectly. You rip out your shoes insole. Put in the carbon plate & cover with the insole that comes with the plate. After a couple days I am 90% pain free. Highly recommend.

Helps stabilize foot, reduces foot pain
I have sesamoiditis in my right foot, I bought the 2 piece set. Itโs great that they are reversible and can be used for left or right, I opted to use them in two different pairs of shoes. My walking shoes are more stable and donโt feel pain when walking. In my work shoes, sometimes I can feel a bit of the pain. It definitely makes it harder to flex your toes when squatting and walking. I am hoping the other reviewโs tip of the dryer sheet to muffle the squeaking will help. My coworkers mention that they can hear me due to the squeaking from the plate haha. Update: dryer sheet worked! I stopped squeaking.

Great for broken toes
Greatly expedited healing of three broken toes Totally eliminates foot flexing. In your shoes. A little difficult to Insert in shoes. But it must be for their performance

Firm support but need wide widths
Inserts provide a good, firm, flat support inside the shoe. What I do not like is that the insert is made for a narrow shoe/foot. I normally wear extra wide shoes, but I cannot find inserts that come in wide widths.

Ended my cycling foot pain
I ride on flat pedals. If I ride a couple of hours mountain biking or take a 20+ mile road ride, I get up the next day, and my feet are made out of pain. It hurts to walk. I can't down stairs without leaning on the railing or walking sideways. I think my problem is that I grip the pedals with my feet. And I pull up when climbing hills. I just overuse my feet. In any event, I know that dedicated cycling shoes are much stiffer than the $12 Walmart skate shoes I usually ride in. (I have bought and returned $90 flat pedal shoes. They technically fit, but they rubbed in places that would make them impossible to use. I have odd shaped feet. It's hard to find shoes that are comfortable. It was simpler to solve the flat pedals problem by stiffening shoes that were already comfortable. It worked.) Maybe these inserts would stiffen a pair of cheap shoes and turn them into real flat pedal boots. I pulled out the insoles, slid these carbon fiber inserts inside, and put the insoles back in on top. The shoes are noticeably stiffer. The heel of the shoe stays on the floor when I walk. It doesn't feel funny like that on the bike. The first thing I noticed is that I can't feel the pedals' pins through the bottom of the shoe at all. Pedaling is completely normal other than that. No issues riding fast or slow, uphill or down, or going off of 2 foot drops. The acid test was I took a 2 hour ride and went 25 miles yesterday. This morning, I got up and walked down the stairs like a normal person. My feet don't hurt. So I came back and bought a second pair. At $15 (the cheapest you find these things; some sellers are getting $40), I can afford to put them in my other pair of cheap $12 Walmart skate shoes. One for work, one for home.

Perfect Post-Op Support for Long Walks
I injured my foot, and my doctor recommended these carbon fiber insoles for my recovery, especially for walking long distances. They really helped fix my issue, and I even realized I had other foot alignment problems while using them! They are very comfortable for support, but I strongly recommend against working out or doing anything that requires bending your feet in these. Because the insoles are rigid and do not bend, you could hurt yourself if you try to flex your foot. Great for support, but stay on flat ground!
