Added amazing flavor to my veg stir-fry!
I was skeptical about this product initially but it surprised me with its one-of-a-kind, flavorful addition to my veg stir-fry. Now I'm addicted and cannot do without! Also I underestimated the size of the packet - it looks small but contains so much product within.

Mekhala Umami Seaweed Crispy Onions: A Mixed Bag of Flavor
I had high hopes for these Mekhala Umami Seaweed Crispy Onions, and while they didn't quite live up to my expectations, they're not a total miss. The main issue I found is that they're not great on their own - there's a bit of a burnt taste that's not super appealing when you eat them straight out of the container. But here's the thing: once I started using them as a topping, that burnt flavor seemed to disappear. They really shine when sprinkled on top of ramen or a little added to a salad. In fact, I've grown to quite enjoy them in my ramen bowls. While I probably wouldn't snack on these by themselves, I'm considering buying them again specifically for using in ramen and other soups. They're not perfect, but they definitely have their place in my kitchen.

Crispy and fragrant!
I've sprinkled this on my fried rice, stir-fried vegetables, and other dishes. It's crispy, with just the right amount of spice. At first, I felt that the crisps overwhelmed the tastes of the dishes, but I find myself using them more and more because it enhances any food I'm eating so muchI've been using the mala-flavored crisps with fried rice and other noodles. The chili lime tastes good with tacos, tamales, and other South American-based flavors, and the umami blends well into most dishes, including stir-fried vegetables as well as meat and fish dishes.I used to buy shallots fried in palm oil for the same purpose...glad there is a healthier option that does not use rancid palm oil that also destroys forests.I hope they come up with an option with no flavoring so that we could better taste the onions.

Burn baby burn
Not hot but a mild burning sensation. Great flavor with no preservative flavor present. A great added bonus to pho.

Thai Chili Lime Crispy Onions
I used these crispy onions to top a salad of cabbage. cilantro, mint, and peanuts dressed with fish sauce and lime juice. The heat (which is a mild medium) complemented the salad and added crunch. These are not the typical crispy onions widely available in the US. They are smaller and denser and not as oily. The Thai spice is not overwhelming so these could be used as a finishing touch to any number of dishes, including baked casseroles where you want a savory crunchy topping.

Great topping!
I got the seaweed crispy onion and it’s a great, versatile topping. I’ve used it on top of noodles, rice, and poke and it’s paired well with all of those. The crispy texture is great and the flavors aren’t too salty or overwhelming. The price is a bit higher than standard fried onion bits, but this comes with added seasoning.I’m happy with this product and its versatility overall. It works well on a variety of recipes. The expiration date is about 1.5 years out - plenty of time to finish this package.

Good flavor, but not much different than what I would expect of crispy onions
Tried these by themselves and used as a casserole topping. Both were good, but I'm not sure I got a strong umani flavor.
