I grew up despising sunscreen because of how it felt on the skin, but I've become something of a fanatic in the last few years. I've tried dozens upon dozens, possibly reaching into the hundreds, and my favorites tend to be from Korean and Japanese brands. The original Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun has become a staple for me due to its protection (SPF 50, PA++++), wearability (lightweight, comfortable, doesn't sting my eyes), finish (slightly dewy), and price point (under $15, sometimes under $10). I was excited to try this version made for the North American market. I hemmed and hawed a little in determining how to rate this. Compared to the original, it's not quite as good. It's a little heavier, a little shinier, doesn't offer quite as much protection, and costs a few dollars more. However, a lot of that is due not to the product itself, but to FDA regulations that limit US consumers' access to the best and newest sunscreen filters; the US hasn't had a new filter approved in literally decades, while European and Asian brands continue to innovate. With that in consideration, this product is still leaps and bounds better than 95% of American sunscreens I've tried. It dries down fairly well, not too sticky or greasy, although I can still feel it if I touch my face (which is true for most sunscreens, even those from overseas). It leaves a bit of shine but not anything egregious even on my oily skin; it makes me look glowy rather than oilier, and has no white cast. A matte finish would be preferred for me, but most US sunscreens make me go full disco ball so I'll take what I can get. It didn't run into my sensitive eyes, although I haven't worn it directly on my eyelids yet, nor have I tried it under makeup. Overall I would say that this is a really good product by US standards, and definitely worth trying if you live in North America. If you buy exclusively overseas brands it might not be your absolute favorite, but if you're used to what we normally get in the States, I think you'll love it.

How is this SPF?! So insanely lightweight and moisturizing. Feels lighter than air on my skin but leaves a really nice and subtle glow. For reference I’m SUPER sensitive and with very reactive skin and have never had an issue with this. Best SPF I’ve found and such a good price.

Lightweight and hydrating, this sunscreen blends in easily with no white cast, which I love. It feels more like a moisturizer than sunscreen and works great under makeup. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that it can leave my skin a bit shiny on some days and has a faint sunscreen smell. Overall, a great daily option.

This is the best facial sunscreen I could find! I have highly sensitive skin and I am picky about what goes under my makeup, but this truly feels like you are wearing almost nothing! It does not leave your skin greasy and does not have a white cast when you wear it. Best for everyday sunscreen!

I usually don’t leave reviews, but I have tried so many different sunscreen brands, spent so much money trying to find one that worked for me. I’ve been let down by every overpriced, overhyped sunscreen that I’ve tried. But, this one is the ONE! I’m so happy to have found an affordable sunscreen that sits so beautifully on my skin. It goes on so smooth, silky, no white cast, and doesn’t pill! Leaves no streaks, and doesn’t sit on the top of my skin looking greasy, and gross. This one actually seems to absorb, is so moisturizing, and looks, and feels amazing all day long. Best sunscreen literally ever. Buy it now!

It’s the best sunscreen I have ever used . It doesn’t burn your eyes . It’s leaves skin so hydrating . And doesn’t break out I let my daughter use it too . Very safe and clean

I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing this. The tube shown on the left with the white cap is one of many tubes that I have purchased from the TikTok shop, which was selling from retailers of the legitimate Original Beauty of Joseon sunblock with NO white cast, NO sunblock taste or smell, and amazingly lightweight yet perfectly moisturizing, NO pilling, and perfect alone OR under makeup, and can even use around my sensitive eyes… blows away ANY other drugstore OR high end sunblock and I’ve tried so many!!! The formula they are selling on Amazon is COMPLETELY different… With that horrible sunblock smell and taste, burning my eyes, and a very greasy, shiny, heavy finish, not fresh and dewy like the original. I went on ChatGPT to ask why they’re not selling the original true Korean formula on Amazon and this is what it said: “It’s possible that Beauty of Joseon has chosen to sell different versions of their products on various platforms for strategic reasons. They may offer a different formulation on Amazon to appeal to a broader audience, or there could be distribution agreements that limit which products can be sold through specific channels. Additionally, regulatory or ingredient-related restrictions might affect availability, and it’s also possible they are testing market preferences for different versions of their sunblock. For their original sunblock, you might need to purchase directly from their website or other authorized retailers.” I really hope that in the future Beauty of Joseon decides to sell the original formula on Amazon because I don’t like having to wait a week or so like when I buy it from other retailers, but I will gladly stock up/wait longer for delivery rather than ever get this formula again. Immediately returned…so disappointed. ☹️
