Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 70cl | 46.3% vol | Fruity, Nutty, Spicey, Unpeated Islay Whisky | Islay Single Malt Whisky​

This is my new favourite Scottish single malt for around £30. Dalwhinnie Winter’s Gold used to be (probably) my favourite, but not any more. It’s got a decent amount of complexity at this price level, and is very smooth and easy to drink with a decent bit of body. It’s 46% (which is I guess why you have decent depth of flavour) naturally coloured and chill filtered but has no age declaration. I prefer it to (say) Bushmills 10 though. It’s got fruit and creamy caramel notes with a bit of a tang and a tiny touch of spice. I’m not a fan of overly spicy whisky, so this is smooth and elegant. You’ll struggle to get a better everyday tipple for this price anywhere and has more complexity than you typically get at the £30 mark.

I'd been eyeing this up for a while in my basket. It was reduced in price, so I thought let's take a punt on it. Thankfully I made the correct decision. The flavours are exquisite, and its colourings are natural from the barrels. It's none peated, which I have a preference for, so the smokiness isn't so full on, if you're trying it for the first time. If sceptical like I was at the start, then I would say, "don't hang about, get it into your basket, and delivered as quickly as possible." You certainly won't be disappointed, I guarantee this.

Now a few drams into a recently opened bottle, knowing like most whiskies they benefit from some air. I bought this as a precursor to the Bunna 12 yr old (impending birthday gift) and it has not disappointed. It most certainly improves with a teaspoon or less of water to open up the nose and drinks deliciously from thereon in. Initially I was comparing this malt to the Old Pulteney 12 (a whisky that I rate highly for that maritime experience). However, there are subtle differences on the development and finish - a unique taste for me and all the pleasant for it. The Stiuireadair is my evening dram for the time being and it is a fine way to wind down from the day. I would have marked this 4.5 stars if it was possible. Very good value if you can pick this up at £25. I expect from certain malt reviews I've read / seen for the Bunna 12 that the aged statement version to be even more impressive when I get to taste side by side. As a NAS, chill-filtered, no caramel added, decent ABV whisky the Stiuireadair delivers.

This has been one of my favourite whiskies for a while now. At 46.3% vol, and being un chill filtered It is very good value and tastes better than many I have had at a far higher price.

This is a firm favourite of mine and at £26 is a no brainer.

Bunnahabhain. Stiùireadair Stiùireadair es la primera edición limitada de Bunnahabhain para rendir homenaje al Timonel que adorna cada una de sus botellas. Un NAS destilado en alambiques de pera que se envejece en white oack exJerez first fill y second fill con whysky de diferentes edades y almacenes. Sin colorantes ni filtrado en frío Con 46,3% Color ambar. Nariz con caramelo, frutos secos, toques de vainilla. Sabor muy cremoso, sal marina, frutos secos, nueces, caramelo, especias suaves. Salino. Final largo, mucha vainilla y caramelo. Sal y especias. Muy rico. Lo tengo desde hace mucho tiempo, y es ideal para una colección grande. No es un Islay habitual porque no tiene apenas humo ni peat. El retrogusto es espectacular. No hay muchos Islay, así que es interesante conocerlos todos y ver la diferencia.

Very Smokey and good whisky. Would recommend.

キャップを開け、キャップのコルクの匂いを嗅いでビックリ、「シェリー」じゃん。キャップだけ持たされるとウィスキーではなくシェリーのキャップと勘違いしてしまいそう。ブナハーブンらしい重厚な味わいと、華やかな香り、まさしく”スコッチ”お勧めです。
