Wishbone: Mary Shelley's Frankenstein VHS

Being of the younger generation, I watch Wishbone at the tender age where it made me love to read and dream. I spent my days awaiting for the end of school and rushing home to turn on the TV for the next adventure Wishbone would take me on. As I grew and came to love reading more and more from watching this great show, Wishbone suddenly disappeared from my life in a flash. Never again I was to see that lovable dog do a turn in joy or dress is the clothes of the character that he was portraying. Now finally I have a chance to relive my childhood again and this time share it with my niece and nephews to show them it is a joy to read and dream.The fact that this DVD has all the shows that was released on DVD before, at a fair price that any has seen, will help others like it will help me to join the journeys we went on with Wishbone yet again. It is my hope that people will buy this product, and I will say you should, so all the old episodes we enjoyed will come out and we can share all the adventures with him again. So order this DVD today, return to the childhood of your past, and share it will the little ones you know have today. Support your children's future with a great show that never "dumb down" the stories, and support the Wishbone DVD so we can all join in the adventures again!

This DVD embodies the excellent, quality television PBS and the Wishbone show are all about. Very few things on television measure up to the positive influence of Wishbone. As a child growing up, this show played a big part in introducing me to classic literature and enticing me to become the reader I am today. Infact I minored in English in college and never got less than an A in any English class. Now, as an adult with a brother of 5 years old, Wishbone is somthing I am so proud to share with him. The picture, sound, and everything about this DVD would do Wishbone proud! I highly recommend people purchase this DVD so it can be around to share with generations to come and perhaps even more episodes will be released for us to share. The things on tv now do not compare to Wishbone. I would not let children watch very much on tv today. While harmless, things like Spongebob do not teach children anything but to act silly. Wishbone has messages about morality and learning and developing a love of reading and adventure. It encourages children to search for more in life. It is very educational.

I ordered this for my son, who is 36 and has cerebral palsy. He remembers watching this as a child and asked for it. However, there are only 4 episodes on the one DVD, which we ordered. Before that, we had ordered 2 separate DVD's which are both on the 4 episode DVD. They were all very expensive. He is disappointed because he remembers a specific episode that I cannot find. For a program that was on 30 years ago, it cost more than it should.

Wishbone was one of my favorite shows when I was younger, and I really give him a lot of the credit for my love of reading. Through these episodes, children are introduced to classic stories and also learn a moral through the "real life" characters' story. I'm sad that out of 50 episodes, only 4 have been released on DVD, but those 4 are all on this one disc which is nice.The DVD itself has the auto play option, like Disney so it will play the previews and then all 4 episodes or you can skip to the menu and select an episode. The auto play will also start over again if you don't select anything from the menu. This could be good if you have a child who likes to watch movies over and over again.

Frankenstein (written by Mary Shelly) is a classic story about how Doctor Victor Frankenstein (played by Wishbone) brings a dead man back to life. But after the creature is made he turns out to be a misfit, and goes on a rampage and destroys everything he can get his hands on. David's science fair project isn't a monster but it does go on the loose and David and his friends have to find it before the science fair. Will David find his science fair project and can Frankenstein capture his monster?What a great episode. At the end you get to see the actor who plays Frankenstein's creature in makeup and out of makeup. (I think they did a pretty good job) This is another great episode that you must watch because if you don't your missing out big time.

I had forgotten Wishbone and how much I enjoyed the few Wishbone episodes I watched on PBS (as an adult)until the series was mentioned by Mark Gattis in the season 2 SHERLOCK commentary. I went to Amazon and found (sadly)how few VHS and DVDs are available. I had to order Slobbery Hound on VHS and luckily this four episode dvd. All the episodes are good but THE IMPAWSSIBLE DREAM was incredible. I was so impressed with how much of the look and feel and highlights they got into the show that I got DON QUIXOTE from the library and read it! Amazing what influence this remarkably creative show (no big budget required)can have. I have no problem as far as the transfer quality is concerned. It's a shame that the rest of the series hasn't been released.

I watched Wishbone on TV as a kid and loved it! I have been collecting DVDs of my favorite shows to share with my future kids, and this was at the top of the list (though it is sad you can only find 4 episodes). I can't stand a majority of the TV shows for kids now because they lack the magic and charm of classics like Reading Rainbow which taught children to appreciate books and traditional stories.The costumes and sets are fantastic and Wishbone's voiceovers are just as cute as I remember. If you want more of these rich classic stories, I suggest  Jim Henson's The Storyteller of Classic Tales  and  Jim Henson's The Storyteller of Greek Myths . They both include classic stories brought to life.Here's hoping for more Wishbone!
