The description says this is 53 inches high ... Is that a misprint ? How tall is it ?

I believe that 53" you see is the shipping package dimension. Look under product description after product details. It says 91 inch tall radiant glass tube outdoor heater. I just measured mine and that is about the right height dimension.I had to do some remounting of the heater brackets but has worked great for a few years now.

Can this be used in a covered porch?

Yes, as long as the roof is at least a foot and a half taller than the heater and the porch is not. Totally inclosed

Why are the lower panels white instead of silver like the picture?

The panels on mine are stainless steel(silver).
