Basswood Thick Round XXL 12 -14 inch

I bought these to mount staghorn ferns and they worked perfectly.

Thickly cut slice at just the right diameter. Sealed in shrink-wrap plastic for protection in shipping. Love how it looks on my holiday table. A1 quality and I will buy more in the future.

The media could not be loaded.  I recently purchased a couple of these wood cuttings to make inspiration pieces for my living room.The wood pieces were unfinished when they arrive, meaning I needed to treat the wood before using it for any purpose. The slice is exactly 12 inches wide & about 1.5 inches thick.So, The first step was to scour the crevices in the bark using a fuller paintbrush.My whole purpose of choosing to leave the bark on the slice for a live edge wood kind of look.I began with sanding the wood slice using sandpaper, then it was time for staining.Now to stain the wood, you can choose a color of your choice or some people like to stick with natural wood color.In my case, I opted for a light wood stain which I did use a lint-free rag. Once it dried completely, I sealed it with 2 thick coats of polyurethane spray. It protects the wood, helps the slice retain a good shape in the future, the likelihood of getting a crack is less, the coating also made it water-resistant.I am pleased with the size & the condition it arrived in. After about 7 months of buying it, The wood slices are still in good condition. Hope this helps!

Ordered for A wood burning project. This is not at all suitable for that. There are several very dark marks when all the pics in the listing look light. Furthermore, this one is 11 inches at the widest and only 10 inches at the narrowest. I paid $7 more for the 12-14 inch round. I got jipped.Anyhow, it is very thick and sturdy so I am going to keep it for a rustic cake stand rather than return it.

I really liked the wood except that I was very surprised that it had a rather large crack. I really don't to return it, so I am going fo try my hand at inlay and woodburning. Not sure if I will order from this company again.
