Arrr! Ribbit! Shiver me timbers, walk the plank, pass the black spot - and a bottle of rum! Ribbit, ribbit, oink, oink, arrr!
Without question this is my favourite Muppet film - a purely delicious treat, perfectly adapted for a nice and happy familial evening, when adults, children and pets sit around the screen to watch a good movie, have a healthy laugh and enjoy the life! This being a Muppet production and also a surprisingly faithful adaptation of "Treasure Island" there is hardly any need to tell anything about the plot, except that this film was masterfully done and it is clear from the begininng that all those who worked on it had GREAT fun doing it! I believe that all Muppet's gang is present here and the characters were very skillfully distributed amongst the "Treasure Island" plot - and that really asked for some careful reflection, because honestly, it was not easy to fit in the Swedish Chef, not even talking about a place for Miss Piggy in a book notoriously devoided of female characters...))) But it was done, and it was done VERY WELL INDEED.As you can expect from Muppets, this film is filled with jokes, puns and slapstick moments, but also with excellent songs. And Tim Curry portrays here an AMAZING Long John Silver as a redoubtable albeit NOT ENTIRELY evil pirate, a killer cook (pun very much intentional) and a Holy-Molly-Guacamole-Is-He-Good-Or-What singer of sea shanties - gosh, the VOICE this guy has!!I LOVED this film, all our family spend a wonderful evening (even our chipmunks rolled on the floor laughing) and we are going to certainly see it again. Enjoy!

A wonderfully entertaining film for the whole family
Muppet Treasure Island is a must if you like the Muppets! The light hearted fun factor of the movie goes from begining to end, with stars Billy Connolly (who has a small but pivotal part), and Tim Curry doing a wonderful job. This movie is good enough to buy on dvd even without the bonus materials, but with them it's even better. There is a good mini documentary about the making of the movie that shows you some of the sets, as well as small interviews with a few of the cast and crew. The sing along bonus feature is a bit of good fun for the children too. The movie has a feature comentary by director Brian Henson that is informative and pleasant to the ear. This movie also has plenty of good one liners, and the "Cabin Fever" scene is great!I have been wanting to buy this movie for years and now that I have I am not dissapointed. I am happy with the sound and picture quality and the only drawback for me is that Disney didn't put it out on dvd sooner. This is definately a movie that has appeal even after you have seen it a number of times.

Get Some Cabin Fever Now!!!!!!!!
I never laugh so much as when I watch this film. I have seen it endless times now and can never get bored with it. Forget children, this one is for me.Treasure Island getting the Muppets overhaul. It just has to be worth it. Funnily enough though, like the other great avetnure they have had with Dickensian London, they stick to the story, but just add their own brand of mirth. For me, there isn't a best part as it is all just brilliant. But perhaps the songs are the best. Good old Hans Zimmer, he of Pirates fame and others. The entrance of Miss Piggy as Benjamina Gunn for example, is sheer class.Get your laughing muscles ready for a sensation they aint had in a while when you buy this one, for it is GREAT!

Stevenson should have loved to view this
In a 1 to 5 stars classification, this DVD deserves 6 stars. The film is great: the adaptation of the Robert Stevenson classic tale to the Muppet word is clever and perfect. The team that made the film even managed to have a role for the Jazz band and the cooker, in a smart variation to the Stevenson's tale. Smart how fights were changed to no killing and amusing sequences. Great, the idea to introduced rats on a ship as tourists in a "Carabean Pirate Cruise" (Rizzo the rat's idea). If you like The Muppets you will most certainly love this picture.Sound is in Dolby Surround and there are subtitles. As extras you can view the film with background commentaries, the interviews about the film and a Sing-along. Pity this sing-along only plays 2 songs and does not include all the film musics, because they are great particularly "Shiver my timbers" and "Professional pirate".
