Best choice
I love this watercolor set! The paints have a smooth, creamy texture and are highly pigmented, perfect for both beginners and more advanced artists. The pans are large and easy to use, and they wet quickly with just a little water, making them super convenient. The variety of colors is fantastic, and the range includes both transparent and opaque options, which is great for creating depth in my work. The set comes in a lovely box, which adds a nice touch if you're thinking of gifting it. Overall, it’s a wonderful set for anyone looking for vibrant colors and ease of use.

Nice watercolor paints in extra large, shallow pans: recommend
I’ve tried Artistro paints that come in a metal tin, and didn’t like the chalky paints. However, this set has much better paint in it compared to the Artistro metal tin sets. The paint here is bright, mixes well and has good clarity, especially for the price. Paint that is more opaque in this set is supposed to be more opaque, because of the pigments involved. The Japanese style of packaging is really nice. Summary: good set, I recommend!Details: You can mix colors easily, the paint rewets easily, the color selection is decent, and they are OK on cheaper paper. It’s easy to use a larger brush in the extra large pans. It’s interesting to me that the packaging and the size/shape of the pans are like those of Japanese-style Gansai paints, which are not known for being transparent or good for mixing, though they’re fun and colorful. These paints behave more like western watercolors, because they mix well, most of them are transparent, and the pigmentation qualities seem familiar. The Japanese-style cardboard box design is charming and cute, but of course I overturned a couple of pans before I realized the pans are not attached to the box and can easily fall out of the box if you’re not careful. The set also comes with a nice plastic overlay to help keep the paints in place and perhaps reduce leakage. Pigment numbers are not included, although there are some indicators for opacity and lightfastness, some of which I possibly wouldn’t trust. They label “Magnesium Brown” as transparent when it’s obviously partly opaque here, for example.I’m a trained and experienced watercolorist, and I like these paints a lot. They’re not quite artist grade, but they are bright, mix well, offer a range of values, have a good choice of colors in the set, are in Japanese-style extra large, shallow pans which are easy to use, and come in a very nice patterned box. It would be an attractive gift, too. Easy to recommend!PAINT DETAILS:The colors have their own names and no pigments are listed, but here are roughly what the equivalents are:1. “Deep Carmine”. Pretty much the equivalent of a Permanent Rose, a transparent, pinkish red on the blue side. Perfect for being the only red. Add a little orange or yellow, and you’ve got a vermilion.2. Orange: a partially opaque mid-orange, nice color.3. “Brilliant Yellow”. A good mid-yellow for mixing, nice and bright on its own.4. Magnesium Brown”. Looks like a middle-hued earth color. Not as transparent as Artistro labels it, not as reddish brown as true Manganese Brown, PBr25. Mixes well, though partially opaque. Like a cross between raw Siena and burnt sienna?5. “Leaf Green”. Light yellowish green, similar to grass green in some paints. Not heavy pigmentation.6. “Turquoise”. Looks like a cobalt turquoise, a darker green with blue type of turquoise, but that’s an expensive pigment, so I don’t know what it is made of. Good pigmentation.7. “Phthalo Turquoise”. A blue with a strong green component. Mid-value, good pigmentation.8. “Ultramarine”. Looks like a nice standard reddish ultramarine blue, with a tiny bit of granulation.9. “Purple”. Deeply pigmented, obviously RED violet, very strong.10. “Violet”. Strongly pigmented blue-ish purple. Looks a lot like Dioxazine Violet in color and wide value range.11. “Titanium White”. Looks like fairly opaque titanium white.12. “Deep Black”. This is indeed a very deep and dark black that covers my black sharpie line almost completely. Darker than most watercolor blacks I’ve encountered.I hope my review helps!
