Beautiful Set
I think this product is getting some bad press. I will say it is a bit high maintenance but I think smaller tanks are, in terms of cleaning and care, it just takes a bit more to do. In this case there are three small tanks and a reservoir collection on the bottom. It is visually very pretty to look at and I think if you are looking for unique things you should be willing to put in a little extra time for care. This set was easy to assemble. I fumbled with the lids just a little bit but I figured them out. With the lids in place the grate keeps the fish in place just fine. I placed both a heater in the bottom reservoir and a submersible light. Over the top of the tanks with clear lids I placed a bright white LED goose necked lamp with a light bar. So I can do blue light at night and use the white light to truly see my two bettas and the temporary spot for an African Dwarf Frog. The flow on the filter is fine for my fish with the center spot perhaps having the calmest water, though my betta are fine in the current. I did have a scare setting it up like other people have talked about, I took the lid off the last bay and using a net put in the final betta and he swam so quick from the net he went in through the waterfall space and down into the reservoir! For a moment I could not find him but thanks to the reviews I knew where he had gone. I found him easily and all is well. I do have tape on the lids because I am concerned about my cat's curiosity but they hold on well enough I am not really that worried. Anyway, this tank is beautiful and my fish are happy. My frog is enjoying his temporary home too. I think there's a possibility of buying another set. I wouldn't let the less happy reviews stop you from buying this product and use that advice only to help you look out for possible problems during assembly and after. I'll update if any problems come up later, but so far I am very pleased.

Betta Blockers, LOLz
((Update below original review)) Prior to purchase and after reading some reviews, I thought I would have to put blockers in between the tank outputs to prevent the bettas from getting into the other tanks... To prevent this KEEP THE LIDS ON - the lids have built-in grates that prevent this. Water flow - TURN that little pump all the way DOWN (default is all the way high, low & high marked on the pump). Put a small submersible heater in the bottom (unless your room temperature is 76-80), it fits and there is an opening for the cord - pump cord fits through it as well. The tank is quiet - initially, I was worried because of the "waterfall" in the last compartment, but as long as the water level is at the "Max" line - all is quiet! Note that initial filling was done by adding water halfway to each compartment and the filter reservoir, turning on the pump and then raising water level until Max reached (Max water level indicated on the front of Betta Falls). The filter cartridge is "Aqueon QuietFlow Filter Cartridge, Medium," (available for purchase on Amazon or at Petco). I added live plants and I'm letting the tank cycle before adding bettas (about a week). The water flow (dialed down to low) is not pushing the plants around, so it's enough to keep the water circulated with the heater. I'll edit this review after adding bettas if there are any problems, though I don't expect any. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 7/16/18 Update Made some modifications to the tank (photos attached). I took some thin plastic grate (purchased from a home improvement store, very cheap), cut it, and secured it over the grates with small zip ties. I did this because the betta in the first tank was getting his tail sucked through (he was staying in the tank, but unable to move). This modification fixed that. I went ahead and moved this particular betta to the last tank because he's small and the flow there is the least. I also affixed the plastic grate in the last tank. The middle betta is perfectly fine and did not have any trouble, however, I added the plastic grate to his tank as well just in case. I trimmed his grate to just below the water release point though because the longer grate was creating more of a suction and he spends more time at the top. I recommend putting a larger betta in the first tank. The older betta I moved there is completely happy. I do turn off the filter to feed them (left off for about five minutes). The leaves in the photos are Indian Almond Leaves (beneficial to bettas and lowers the ph naturally).

Beats pet shop life! Hands down!
I’m going to make this a super real review for anyone like myself who reads these and then has HUGE doubts about this product. I will also update this in about a month. Here is the truth about this item so far.... The design is beautiful, and I highly recommend the lighting for the bottom to illuminate the tank, really adds to it. Putting this together really wasn’t hard. Each tank section comes with lid be sure each one is the correct lid for their tank. I posted pics because people talked about their Bettas getting into one of the other containers(I’m confused by this since each lid has a grate type of fence that would keep this from happening. Maybe the design has been changed it’s been on the market for over 5yrs I’m thinking it’s the logical reason. I decided to wait on adding the 3rd Betta and left the middle open for now just in case. . . I did get the heater but decided to wait on using it as the water shouldn’t get to cold in this tank. I added plants and stones to each mini tank. I do have the current on the pump turned to the lowest setting as suggested by other reviews, it still seems to be alittle strong but also my Bettas seem to like the water fall going up to it. The glass facing each tank is frosted so the Bettas can not sea each other. . Finally I do wish there was a bigger version of this tank I would totally get it, but I feel this is larger then I expected after reading reviews. Plus some Bettas live in the containers at the pet shops and die there which is horrible I know but it’s the truth! My Bettas came from a store that has beautiful fish, but poor water conditions for them. My one Betta had a dead beetle in his cup. They advertise on their website and his water looked amazing. Needless to say this tank is a huge upgrade and will be kept clean. I truly feel my fish are grateful to be taken home and be in such an improvement living condition. . . I will update this post in about a month, I gave four stars only cuz I wish the current was alittle less, but so far guys this tank is beautiful to look at and my fish seem very happy. Definitely add plant or something for them to break the current.

Great Concept but Terrible Design
My mother bought this for my daughter as a birthday present. I followed the instructions which were not very good and tried to see the water fill line. But unfortunately, the pump blocked the window, and the tank ended up overflowing all over my daughter's room. So, then I did it again and put in what it said to do. The pump was so loud that we could hear it down in the kitchen. We thought that there is no way my daughter will be able to sleep with this in her room because it is that loud. Then I put more water in it, and it became quieter. By adding more water now if the power goes out it will overflow again. So, we had to put it on a cookie sheet just in case because I did not want her room flooded again. We got the 3 bettas and put them in the tank. We lost one the 1st week. Then we lost another one the 2nd week. I changed the water and followed all instructions. Finally, we decided to stop using this take and move the last betta into a larger single tank and hopefully that betta will survive. Since we got this tank there has been nothing but issues. I would not recommend this until they create a better design for this tank. The light, which was recommended had no light switch, so you had to unplug and plug it back in every time as well.

LOVE THIS TANK!! Don't let the negative reviews deter you! (Updated to add pictures)
I was really leery about getting this tank, but I am SO glad I did! I honestly don't know why people have said it's loud & the current is too strong... Mine has neither issue! The motor is whisper quiet and on the lowest setting, the current is fine. Maybe people didn't put enough water in the reserve? Idk. Don't let people's negative reviews that say their fish got sucked down to the next tank deter you from buying this tank. Do the additions as a lot of people have suggested and you will love it just as much as I love mine!! **Update 2/13/17** I made the necessary addition to eliminate the "gap" that everyone mentioned and it works just fine. I found single sheets of plastic canvas mesh at Joann Fabrics for under $2, even though I only used a small portion. I got one with bigger squares to help with water flow, and I'm glad I did. The water in the first tank is higher than the other 2 tanks, but I think had the squares in the mesh been smaller, it would have stopped up the water too much. I adhered it to the side of the tank with super glue, which happens to be water resistant. I did notice that the current was pretty strong for my betta in the 2nd tank, as his fin would go through the slots when I had the tank plugged in. I just did what I did for the other side with the canvas mesh and he's much happier. He actually likes to chill up on the mesh, as opposed to swimming around. With the canvas mesh additions, I've noticed that the water flowing between the 2nd & 3rd tanks has gotten louder. I'm not thrilled with it, but it is more than tolerable. It sounds like a waterfall, which is the point of the tank overall. It's pretty relaxing, in my opinion! **Update 3/29/17** Added photos and also to show that my fish are all still doing great! I cleaned the tanks and replaced the filter (found a 3 pack at Petsmart for $14). It was certainly a bit of a hassle to do, but I had also really let mine get nasty before I finally took care of it lol. Also, I didn't mention before that I do unplug the filter when I feed my fish. Otherwise, the food just drops to the bottom with the flow of the water. Just an FYI! Photo explanations: 1. Front view (fish names top to bottom: 1 - Bubbles, 2 - Kaner, 3 - Drago. Just for fun :)) 2. Side angle 3. Showing the desk lamp I purchased from Walmart (it was around $8 I believe and is LED). 4. Underwater view of plastic mesh additions in 1st & 2nd tanks 5. 1st tank plastic mesh addition (and yikes, I need to clean that better) 6. 2nd tank plastic mesh addition

Pretty but a pain
It is a very beautiful aquarium. I purchased the multi color light bar when I purchased the aquarium and love that. I also lost one of my Bettas. Somehow he managed to get out of the aquarium not once but twice. The first time we found him in time but a couple days later he got out again and we did not find him til the next morning. I turned the flow down completely and have had no more trouble. The pump went out a couple months after I got it. I called Aqueon and they sent me a replacement pump. You do have to be aware that the water evaporates out of this unit and you have to add water every few days. There is a water level indicator you can check but after a while you can tell by the sound of the water and the pump that you need to add water to it. Cleaning it does cause some issues. I just use a 5 gallon bucket and dip the water out into it and then take it outside to pour out. I wanted several Bettas so when I saw this, I thought it would be a great way to display them and a space saver. It does serve those purposes but I would not get another one. It is easier to clean single units than this one and I don't always like to hear the waterfall effect all the time.

This is a really great product. first off Aqueon is a great company
This is a really great product. first off Aqueon is a great company, I had a animal accident that resulted in the destruction of several pieces to the aquarium. Called Aqueon and they sent me the replacement parts I needed ASAP no questions asked. Second the aquarium looks great on my desk and it has a very quite pump and it is easy to tell when it needs filling or a filter replacement. Lastly is the fact that if you buy multiple units you can place them in a circle and they look great. I've only heard of one complaint and that is that the fish sometime appear stuck against the waterfall. For this I have three responses. The first is that you can adjust the flow rate on the pump to help prevent this (I keep mine at maximum flow rate due to my second point). Second, make sure to have thick vegetation in the tank (I've uploaded a picture of my tank as an example). You need something for the fish to rest in and so I would say it is vital if you intend to put a betta in the tank to use some king of vegetation that the fish can rest in. Third is that the gap for the waterfall is to small for all but the smallest of bettas to fit through. As long as you have fish at least the size of minnows your safe. All in all a great product.

Read my full review! I swear this tank is worth it, don't be frightened by the others.
Ok, so at first I was going to return this item. I opened it.. realized it did not come with the lights I had seen it displayed with and had won me over to actually purchasing it!!! I was furious. Then I noticed it says it right on the box -_- lights sold separately. So I was like whatever I'll just buy the lights as well. THEN I continued to set it up and add my three gorgeous crown tail betas. To my horror when I came back to check on them 10 minutes later the betta in the first tank had somehow slipped into the second tank!! I was mortified but thank GOODNESS neither better had realized they were in the same enclosure. I quickly scooped him up and returned him to the first tank and turned the filter off to stop the water flow. I proceeded to review comments and opinions on this tank and found that MANY people had this same problem. I called Aqueon and reported my unfortunate disappointment with this tank to which they said sorry and actually sent me some products through the mail for my trouble. The representative also gave me some advice on how to prevent this from happening again. So here is my review.. I LOVE THIS TANK! Its beautifully elegant and is just a treat to look at. It hold about 3 gallons of water and can hold a mini heater plus the lights on the bottom reservoir (below the three tanks) with no problem. People are saying that its not enough room bro bettas or that it'll stress them out by seeing each other, poppy cock, the sides are frosted so the betas DO NOT interact and they really are not that small.. most people keep bettas in far worse conditions. VERY IMPORTANT: Now to prevent what happened to me and many others this is how you go about setting up your gorgeous better falls. Be SURE to add AT THE LEAST one plant to each container to significantly decrease the water flow (bettas hate that darn flow) and also be SURE to turn the flow on all the way down (adjustable at the pump). If you do that right you should have a pristine setup and happy betas. There is also complaints on the food being flushed to the bottom before the bettas can eat it, if you've properly placed the plants in the way of the flow this is not an issue.. and if it is you have too strong of a current and need to either reposition your plants or turn the flow off while feeding. Hope this helps!

This is a really good design. Wish it came in two sizes, one larger.
Alright so Theres aloooot of mixed reviews, but here's the info in point form Cons - smaller homes for each individual fish than I would normally like -thats it. Theres only con Pros - great design, the water cascades from one home to the next, then the last one cascades inward, towards the bottom, where the reserve tank is. This is a very smart design, as after reading all the mixed reviews on this tank, went out and bought another tank that was a bit bigger, with three homes for three Bettas , and the reveserve tank was on the back of all the tanks, and when I'd stop the tank from filtering water for the day to give the Bettas a break, and eat, water would dribble down the sides, and there was nowhere for the water to flow and so it leaked. Constantly. No matter what I did. -so if you're looking for a Betta tank that holds three Bettas, without having to worry if you'll come home to water all over your floors/desk etc. This is the tank. - also once you get it running it's super quiet. ( Again comparing to the first tank I bought, where you couldn't hear yourself think over the sound of it) - and the water flow IS adjustable. But even if the flow was less than a trickle, I still wouldn't keep it on all the time as Bettas are stillwater fish, so if you love your fish at all, you'll turn it on for about an hour or so a day just to filter the water and them let them relax the rest of the day. :)

Alles perfekt!

BONITA -NO APTA

Poorly made, cheap, flimsy, no safety information regarding power types
Item arrived with a U.S power plug hardwired to the pump. The pump has no C/E or vertification on it nor does it state the voltage required and if it is in fact a dual 110v/240v pump. Honestly, I am not even going to use it, I am going to put it all back in the box and hope I can get $50 for it.
