Organic Vegan 21g Protein Powder, Birthday Cake, 1.02 lb

Before I give my review about ORGAIN, I want to stress that I am absolutely unable to tolerate whey protein, whey isolate, and even soy protein. Without exaggeration, I will get the most severe abdominal cramping and pain. I can’t consume these ingredients in any foods or drinks. So, I am happy to report that I drink ORGAIN once and sometimes twice a day and experience zero digestive issues.. NOTHING, but positive results.Now for my review:I am menopausal and my hair is falling out. I read where this can be due to a low protein diet and low iron. So I decided to look for a plant based protein powder. I’ve been drinking ORGAIN protein powder everyday for six weeks. I think I am seeing less shedding, but here are other benefits I didn’t expect.I poop! No more constipation. And I am a lifetime sufferer of constipation. I like that I’m consuming iron without having to take an iron supplement. The iron and fiber content does change slightly depending on the flavor.I make my protein shakes using skim milk. A few times I have used only water and crushed ice. But since I’m trying to consume protein, I like using skim milk.I’ve had vanilla, chocolate fudge, fruity cereal, cookies and cream and birthday cake. My next order I’ll be trying strawberries and cream. When mixed with skim milk, I think birthday cake taste like vanilla ice cream and a yellow cake cone when eaten together. I love vanilla ice cream and cake cones so, for me personally, this flavor is sweet and satisfying. Sometimes I’ll put crushed ice in it just to make the shake nice and cold.I wish they would sell this birthday cake flavor in the larger size.None of the ORGAIN protein powders dissolve completely because they contain fiber. But I don’t find them unpleasantly gritty. Nor do I find any of the flavors unpleasant. I’m not sure I would get the vanilla again because it’s not as sweet as I would like and since I don’t mix it with anything else like fruit, I want something that helps satisfy my sweet tooth. If you like your protein shakes less sugary then you might want to try vanilla.None of the ORGAIN powders mix well with a spoon, so I bought an inexpensive personal countertop blender. I mix my skim milk and the powder in my personal blender container, which mixes it within seconds in a container designed to be drink ware. I really recommend you get one of these personal blenders if you don’t already have one.

A delightful treat that even mixed with water, tastes exactly like vanilla cake batter. FYI, does not taste like the Orgain vanilla flavor at all.

Overall, I like this protein powder! I went into it knowing that “Birthday Cake” protein powder probably wasn't going to taste like I was sitting there eating an actual piece of birthday cake, so my expectations for the flavor were pretty realistic. 😂It does have a sweet vanilla/cake-like flavor, but I wouldn't necessarily taste it blindly and immediately say, “Yep, birthday cake!” The flavor is still good, though, and it's definitely drinkable. It works especially well blended into a smoothie or mixed with other ingredients where you want a sweeter vanilla-type protein.I also really like that it has 21 grams of plant-based protein per serving without a ton of sugar. Finding a plant-based protein that has decent nutrition AND doesn't taste terrible can be a challenge, and this one does a pretty good job.The texture is decent for a plant-based protein powder as well. Plant proteins tend to have a slightly different texture than whey, so I wasn't expecting it to be perfectly smooth and creamy. Blending it instead of just shaking it definitely makes it better.I'm giving it four stars because I wish the birthday cake flavor came through a little more. But I also didn't realistically expect protein powder to taste like frosting and cake while still having 21 grams of protein. 😂Good protein powder, decent flavor, and I'd buy it again—I just wouldn't buy it specifically because you're expecting a strong birthday cake taste.

Wish I could give this a 0/10 but I can’t do it gets a 1. I originally bought this for my protein brownies and it seemed like it would be good, I was WRONG. It actually tastes so bad. My brownies didn’t taste good either which I originally thought it was something else, no, it was the protein powder. Smells good but tasted so bad I threw up after 2 sips and had to throw it way. The value was cheap but you get what you buy. I don’t even want it anymore but none of my friends want it either

This protein powder is so tasty, I genuinely feel like I'm eating a dessert. The flavor is just phenomenal (assuming you like birthday cake flavor), and adds a wonderful sweetness to whatever you mix it with. Blends easily into smoothies and mixes well with other solid ingredients (like almond flour, if you're like me and make fake edible cookie dough).It has a good protein and fiber content. That being said, if you're not used to protein powder, it can make your stomach a little upset when you eat a lot all at once. So just be wary. I know, it's hard because it's sooo tasty, but you have to pace yourself.As for the price... Well, protein powder is always a little pricey, let's be real. But if you like this flavor, then it's absolutely worth it: I get about a month's worth from this amount, and I use it quite regularly.Overall, if you're interested in this flavor, give it a try! It's good quality and tastes great.

I love this brand. It’s one of my favorites, but this does not taste like cake whatsoever. It taste like they’re regular vanilla protein just a little extra sweet. I would buy it again with the expectation of just tasting vanilla not cake batter. Highly disappointed. It smells like cake batter though so very deceiving. The ingredients are OK. There are seed oils in this. But you can expect that at this price.

This is the first protein shake where I enjoy the flavor! I use cold filtered water, about 10-12 ounces, a bit of crushed ice, with 2 scoops of the powder and mix by hand in my drink shaker for about 20 seconds. It tastes great. Blended perfectly.I’m nearly done with my first container and have not experienced any chalky taste as some others have reported. To me, I taste the birthday cake flavor, and it is not too intense. I also don’t find it too sweet as others have reported. It has just the right balance of flavor.I do think using cold water and bit of crushed ice helps versus warm or room temp water, a some have reported just using room temperature water.It does have only 21 g of protein which is less than some others. But you could add soy or almond, etc. milk to make up a bit of the difference. I have not tried that yet. Too me, the bit less of protein is worth enjoying the taste, and drinking it regularly, as with others I would have to force it down.I drink this shake for any meal, as a snack or post workout drink. I have noticed a craving satisfied after drinking this shake, like my body was craving its nutrients. Eating plant based, I find it’s hard to feel full and satisfied. This shake seems to do the trick for me. My second container just arrived. Go buy and try the birthday cake protein shake!

I’ve tried most of the flavors. And this is one of my top two favorites. Very good taste. Kind of pricey for the amount you get. But it’s good.
