Avatara's review of Iron Maiden Powerslave 40Th Anniversary Zoetrope Vinyl
The album cover is faithful to the original version released in 1984 and is now on a gatefold format. If it wasn't for the hype sticker on the front cover you could be forgiven for thinking that it was an original copy. The inner artwork of the gatefold has some unused photos of the band from the album cycle which are very nice but the real treasure is the "diecut" Eddie artwork that has been commissioned for this 40Th Anniversary version. Iron Maiden have outdone themselves once again with quality and content. There is also a gatefold inner lyric sheet included in the package with liner notes from Steve Harris, song lyrics and album credits. The whole package is faithful to the original but slightly tweeked for the anniversary version. The vinyl itself is a "Zoetrope" version which is supposed to create an optical illusion whilst playing on the turntable, it does not. The artwork on the vinyl disc becomes a blurr whilst playing which is a bit of a let down. The playback quality is excellent and very well balanced, it is a joy to listen to. My second gripe for this edition is the very steep price (£30.00), it would seem that vinyl is fast becomming too expensive to buy in these "Cost of Living Crisis" days. As wonderful as this anniversary version is I feel that it is for the avid collectors and superfans of the band only. I have multple copies of this album on the vinyl and CD formats, so I will be spinning those instead of this version. Great care and dedication was taken by those who are responsible for this little treasure, it really is quite special and overall I don't regret spending my money on it. It will make an interesting addition to my Iron Maiden collection.

POWER TO the slaves !!
A most excellent SECOND picture disc OF the mighty Powerslave album !!I've also got the original1984 version as well,COMPLETE WITH the pressing error which makes the title track inexplicably speed up on the last chorus !!The main difference between the 1984 version & THIS ONE IS that the background noise between tracks is a helluva worse on the zoetrope version !!You'd think that with all the advances in technology that the noise on picture discs would now be able to be eliminated altogether...but alas no !!I just wish I had a strobe light to actually be able to see the full effect of the zoetrope on the disc.

A fitting tribute to Pharaoh Eddie!
Fantastic piccy disc which is a great tribute to this album and its legendary cover too.If you love Maiden then you’ll definitely want this piccy disc. Yes there’s a bit of surface noise when playing like all picture discs but it’s fab seeing the Zoetrope effect . Another reason why playing LP’s is an event!Up the Irons !

Looks pretty ..... QC Issues are very obvious
The sound as you'd expect for a "picture disc", pretty flat and is nowhere as good as my original pressing, however the Zoetrope looks good ....... but that is where it ends.Had to send back the first copy. The centre hole looked like it had been drilled out by a pneumatic drill, and there were noticeable "pops" all over the place! The second copy arrived today ...... going back again (for a refund this time). When I started to play side A, you could hear faint music totally obliterated by noise. When I moved the stylus to a mid track, it simply slid across the vinyl to the outer ring. It would appear that the grooves had not been etched properly!
