Excellent DIY survey equipment!
I've been very happy with my SMA20 purchase. Set up, pairing, and configuration is pretty simple. The receivers have worked well, and once everything is configured correctly, I've been getting consistent results. The included hard cases are a nice touch and make transporting the equipment to and from the field easy while keeping everything protected. Batteries in the receivers and data collector tablet last a long time. Anticipate about 60% battery usage for an 8 hour day. One thing that new users should be aware of is the tablet's GPS map. Just because your points appear to be in the correct location on the map doesn't necessarily mean the exported coordinates will line up correctly in CAD or GIS. If you're tying into State Plane coordinates, you'll likely need to calibrate the central meridian and adjust the false easting using a known control monument. Checking the northings and eastings of a point nearby in Google Earth against what northings and eastings the data collector is reporting will help you adjust the false easting if necessary. Once I worked through that, the exported data matched as expected. I would also recommend having at least a basic understanding of coordinate systems, projections, northings, eastings, and datums before jumping into RTK surveying. The equipment is capable, but understanding how coordinates are represented and transformed will make the learning curve much easier and help avoid confusion when importing data into CAD or GIS software. I've only owned the SMA20 for about two weeks, but I've spent a lot of time learning the system, testing workflows, and understanding how to integrate the data into Civil 3D. My plan is to use it for collecting existing ground data to create surfaces, designing proposed grading for a new building, staking building corners after grading, and producing topographic maps for stormwater permitting. Based on everything I've learned so far, I'm very satisfied with the purchase and feel it's an excellent value for the price.

fantastic value
I have had my set for almost a year now and I'll say this; this setup does not have all of the bells and whistles that an R12i has, however an R12 is also about 8 times the price. What you get with this setup is an incredible value and it can do the vast majority things. i have used mine to run static and set up control which i then ran through OPUS and got a bout 1cm RMS which is fine for my application. If you plan on doing topo survey, you should know that the provided survey software does not seem to support TMOSS survey style, or at least i have not been able to get it to work correctly. This software can, however, provide mock locations to the android OS which enables me to use a base and rover setup with Qfield when doing GIS work. One thing i would like to see from the manufacture is that the Unit should ship with an External power cable with gator clips on the leads to use with a car battery. This unit will quickly use all of the Battery when using the internal radio. You can use the USB-C port on the back of the receiver to charge while it's in use, but this doesn't not seem super sturdy to have a long cable hanging and swaying in the wind. I think that this will probably have issues in the future. in addition, it offers a path for water ingress. I get a couple miles of range at most when using in remote areas of my state with wide open spaces and i get about 3000 feet at most when i am in the city, less than that if there is a lot of radio interference. I would like the see the manufacture offer a comprehensive external radio kit for this unit that comes with all needed cables and connectors as well as the correct antenna and mast for it. As an alternative, in future iterations of the product, the manufacture could integrate a NTRIP caster function to the units similar the way that can be done on the R10 and R12i. Customer service has been very responsive and helped me out on a couple of minor issues. Overall, this has been a great purchase for the money and there is not much to complain about.

Recomendado
