Love the taste of these capers. Not too salty but have a lovely tang. And great value.

Essential
Ahhh the humble yet exotic caper. No tartare sauce exists without them. My favourite pizza Napolitana requires them as does my favourite pasta sauce Puttenesca. So they are a must in my cupboard.

Small But Punchy, Worth Keeping in the Cupboard
I picked these up mainly to have capers on hand for a smoked salmon pasta I make fairly regularly. I'd been buying a supermarket own-brand version for a while but wanted to try something a bit more considered after the last jar felt watery and bland. These are non-pareilles, the smallest variety, which matters more than people realise. They have a cleaner, more concentrated flavour than the larger capers you often see, less vinegary sharpness and more of that distinctive briny, slightly floral taste that actually adds something to a dish rather than just providing sourness. The brine they come in is decent too. I've used it a couple of times in dressings and sauces where a bit of acidity and salt is useful, so nothing goes to waste. The jar itself is small at 100g but that's actually fine for home cooking where you're using a spoonful at a time. It lasted a good few weeks once opened, kept in the fridge with no issues. If I had any criticism it's simply the size versus price ratio. For the cost you're not getting a huge amount, and if you cook with capers regularly you'd probably want to buy a few jars at once. But the quality is noticeably better than budget alternatives, and for something that's more of a cupboard staple than a main ingredient, that consistency matters. Good capers, honestly. The kind of small upgrade that quietly improves a handful of dishes without making a fuss about it.
