Dettol, Washing Machine Cleaner, Lemon Scent, 250ml, Antibacterial, Removes Bacteria, Bad Odours, Limescale and Hidden Dirt, Lasting Freshness, Kills 99.9 Percent of Bacteria

Used is as per recommended on a 60 degree wash. Tge washing machine smells lovely BUT the slime on the drum under the rubber was still there. Albeit not as much if it, but nevertheless it didn't shift it. I put bleach in the machine & repeated the 60 degree wash & the slime has gone. This was basically a waste of money. I didn't buy a washing machine deodorant it was supposed to clean it & failed

Made no difference whatsoever to my machine in terms of cleanliness. The smell lasted no longer than the hour after using & my machine clogged after using it & cost me money to get it fixed. I’m not sure if connected but there was limescale in the clog & this was supposed to remove it. So I wouldn’t bother with this product and in my opinion was. waste of money. There are so many in wash antibacterial additives now & these will work just as well getting rid of any nasty issues in your machine. I also found out that you can buy citric acid from Wilkinson’s & if you put this in your machine as per the instructions this will dissolve any limescale build up & costs a fraction of the price.

I was surprised to see that the product was 2 months out of date. Not sure given the product type if that really matters but I was not really impressed considering I paid full retail price, not as if it was discounted for being out of date or anything. I would have snapped a pic but its out in the bin now that i've used it and I earlier today I debated on wasting the time on typing this up, let alone now (3am) going and snapping pictures, emailing it to myself, so I could upload from my computer. Figured I would type this up though as it was pretty poor form and what makes it even more surprising is that the seller was the official Dettol store. The product itself i've used in the detergent drawer before and it does its job (I used it in conjunction with Dr.Beckmann Service-it Deep Clean which I used in the drum, incidentally the Dr Beckmann product was dated 2026) ... Its just not been a good experience purchasing from Amazon or more accurately the official Dettol store.

Cleaned my washing machine drawer last week and I couldn't get rid of some of the black marks because of the shape of the drawer itself. So, I thought I'd purchase a washing machine cleaner and give it a go. Well, the Dettol washing machine cleaner arrived today and I followed the instructions and used this washing machine cleaner. It hasn't made any difference at all to my washing machine and seems to be a complete waste of money and I don't like the after smell. My washing machine hasn't got hard black marks, it has soft black marks which should have been removed easily with this cleaner. Even the door seal had soft, old detergent still on the seal which was easily removed by myself using paper kitchen towels. My washing machine is used twice a week and has never had very dirty clothes in it like mud or oil etc. This should have cleaned my washing machine easily and it didn't. There was no difference before it was used or after it was used. My washing machine has never had detergent in the drawer as I put the liquid detergent directly into the drum. There was no noticeable difference whatsoever after using this washing machine cleaner.

Just like one of the other reviewers. This foamed out of the drawer and all over the carpet. I have a hotpoint with auto clean. I used that setting with the Dettol washing machine cleaner. The drum does turn quite fast compared to a normal wash cycle. Maybe that agitated too much. Maybe should have just used a hot cycle. It’s now put me off using it. The smell of the lemon is quite overpowering. Really disappointed as I’ve always thought Dettol products to be good. Why did it need to froth so much.

EDIT: I have since rinsed with white vinegar and bicarbonate soda and that’s helped with the smell. Read all the good reviews and thought that as my machine is a few years old and a little mottled around the plastic that I’d give this a go. I really wish I hadn’t! It never had a smell before but now it does, something like a mix of wet dog, mould and trainer socks all rolled into one. I’ve rinsed the machine (3 times) and each load of washing I do now has an unpleasant aroma to it. Not sure what to do now! I’m really, really not happy :(

I had to stop my machine a few minutes into the ‘clean tub’ cycle due to the amount of suds this cleaner produces. If not happens to you add a capful of fabric conditioner into the drawer and switch to program to rinse and spin. This still didn’t get rid of all of the suds so I then had to put the machine on a quick 30 wash to rid the drum of all the suds. Luckily I think the addition of the fabric conditioner dampened down the suds enough not to overwhelm the drainage pipe. Don’t buy it!

I followed the instructions and put whole bottle into the machine's drawer. And then, it produced too much foam and it started running out from the drawer. It was out of control. I needed to stop it to save my washing machine and kitchen floor. Poor product with incorrect instructions.

We have been looking for a great smelling washing machine cleaner who of course does the job very well. And this was it. I don’t know why I was under the impression that it is big when it says 250ml. I was surprised when it arrived in a small box. But, it does the job very well.
