A Solid Upgrade with Minor Tweaks
I ordered the BrosTrend 5 Gigabit PCIe Network Card for my Windows 11 gaming PC, and overall, it has been performing well. The card came neatly packaged, well protected, and included both a standard and low-profile backplate for different setups. Fitting it into the PCI Express slot was straightforward, and when I started Windows, the drivers were automatically installed without any issues. However, during my initial speed test, I was surprised to find that it wasn't achieving the advertised 5Gbps speed. I was only getting around 2Gbps on my 3Gbps Community Fibre broadband. Suspecting it might be a driver issue, I went ahead and downloaded the latest drivers from the manufacturer’s website (since I don’t have a CD drive for the included driver CD). After installing the updated drivers, the card worked perfectly, and I started getting speeds close to 3Gbps. Overall, I believe this network card offers great value for money, especially once the correct drivers are installed. So far, it’s working well, and I’m happy with the purchase.

Simple set up
Requested this to provide a 2.5 link from a pc to a nas. It adopted within seconds to the network. Just 2 patch moves and it was up and running. Just use the switch POR to power it avoiding the usbc plug and euro plug converter.

Eventually, it works
Although the packaging and BrosTrend website says it supported by Linux it does not work right away. I had to install the RTL8126 drivers manually and had to get them from github because not even BrosTrend has Linux drivers listed on their website. So it works with Proxmox kernel 6.8.12 I couldn't test the 5gbe connection because my switch only has 2.5gbe ports. With iperf3 it maxed out at 283 MBytes which is what you would expect. For the price this is a great NIC.

Easy to install and very fast.
This small but very efficient card takes up very little room in my case. It took less than 1 minute to install and Windows 11 found it instantly. I downloaded the recommended drivers and installed them before testing the connection. It is fast, very fast. My ping times have come right down and I am finally getting my full 1Gbps connection speed. Highly recommended.

Fast and reliable connection
It matches the advertised speed, and so far has proved to be reliable. I plugged it in and it worked straight away on Windows and Linux.

Très bonne carte réseau, l'installation est simple, les débits sont conforme (entre 4.5 et 4.7 gb/s sur freebox delta) la latence est excellente (2 a 3ms). Installation avec un câble de cat 5e de 7 mètres. Au delà de 10m, prévoyez la catégorie 6 voire 6a. afin d'obtenir les meilleurs résultats.

Werkt goed. Gekoppeld aan een Unifi enterprise 8 switch (2.5Gb poort) Draait onder Linux Mint 22.3 ook met vmware workstation no-issues.
