I enjoy a tipple. I'm no connoisseur, but I like my rum and whiskeys. I'm normally someone who goes for a more Jamaican rum or white rum as they mix well. Having recently decided to begin making rum old fashioned for the evenings after work... This rum caught my eye and in the black Friday sales I decided to take a punt. First impressions on opening, the presentation box it arrives in gives the bottle a real premium feel. The bottle itself looks and feels expensive and I always love a spirit that still opt for corks in the top, there's something about that "pop" as you open. Dark frosted glass bottle looks inviting and premium. My first taste I decided to go neat, aroma is great and a nice warmth as it makes it's way down reveal so many amazing flavours and leaves the tongue tingling! Secondly I added a little coke to test it's versatility, I must admit I wasn't a massive fan. In my opinion buying a rum of this calibre and mixing it is a waste of money. You strip all the flavours and craftsmanship. If you know you know. If you want to mix something like Koku Kanu is more the run you want to be going for 👌🏼 Finally I went for what I purchased for a rum old fashioned. 50ml of Rum, 15ml sugar syrup and couple of dashes of orange bitters. Shaken and strained over iced... Exceptional drink. The way the sugar brings out the flavours is just unbelievable. This review seems over the top I know, it's not sponsored but this is genuinely one of the nicest rum's I've tried. TLDR - not my cup of tea for adding to mixer, great dark rum for cocktails or neat

The Diplomatico rums are quality rums, I'm just not convinced they're worth the high price tag outside of sales? A pleasant rum for sipping neat or with coke and has some character, but I've had better rums at lower prices.

Un ron muy bueno. Muy equilibrado tanto de sabor como de fuerza. No me gustan los licores excesivamente fuertes y secos. Este ron, bebido solo con hielo, tiene un equilibrio perfecto. Tiene muy buen beber. Un sabor fantástico, con notas dulces y acarameladas, meloso, sin dejar de lado ese toque potente de un buen ron. Un ron que sin ninguna duda, por lo menos, hay que probarlo.

Sehr leckerer, angenehm süßer Rum mit Noten von Karamell, Vanille und etwas Schokolade. Schön weich und perfekt zum pur trinken. Für meinen Geschmack etwas süß, aber insgesamt top Qualität. Klare Empfehlung!

One of the best rums out there. Drink neat with a few drops of water, and let it sit 5-10 minutes to open up, then enjoy!
