Over 2 weeks and still no smell!!!
Been using these bags along with a cheap plastic kitchen composting bucket and I have to say, they're pretty great. I eat fruit every day as well as cook almost every day and throw all organic scraps in the bag. I've accumulated scraps for over 1-2 weeks at a time and smell nothing. Absolutely nothing. The no smell part is amazing but it's also nice that the bags are biodegradable. I live in an apartment so I do not have a compost pile to test the validity of the claim but if it is true, I appreciate that my non-biodegradable waste contribution is minimized. All in all, great product!

Rip very easily
These things are lousy. They rip incredibly easily; we've had more of them rip on us than not. And I'm only putting about 3/4 of a gallon (*tops*) of food scraps in them at a time, and there is very little that's sharp in the food scraps. It's not the food scraps that break the bags, either - it's your hands. You might rip the bag in half just as you unfurl it, or your thumb might poke a hole through the side as you tie the knot.

About as good as it gets
And when I say "as good as it gets," I mean that they are the best of a necessarily weak group of products. These style biodegradable bags are made from plant-based materials, and are subsequently much more prone to ripping than standard plastic bags. This is a necessary compromise so that they will be compostable, but it also makes them lack most of the qualities you would want from a good plastic bag, such as the ability to not rip and spill used coffee grounds everywhere. This brand seems to be about as strong as the more expensive bags, since they all have to be made of the same weak material (someone please correct me if I'm wrong about that). My city provides a curbside composting program, and these fit perfectly in receptacles like the EcoSafe Kitchen Buckets (which were provided by our composting program).

Dry your compost (haha) or expect it to leak
I see there is a bulk 3 box option that gets the price down, where I expect it, so that's something.I tried these instead of the ecosafe, because those have been discontinued and these are cheaper. I can't find anything smaller than 13 gal in stores, if they even have it.Anyways, it looks thicker and looks greener, but leaks moisture day one. I've been careful to not put too much moisture in the first place, so I can wait the week. Consequently my compost pail has to wait a day after rinse and dry. I'd have to do that if I didn't bother with bags, so these bags don't really save me anything.I kind of wish neighbors hadn't stolen the free pail from sanitation or I'd bought a pail more compatible with not using bags.

the other bags are seamless and made of a sturdy softer material
Beware- there are two different kinds of bags that come in apparently identical packaging. This one has more ridged and plastic-y feeling bags, with seams that split open at the slightest tension. I ended up tearing and trashing more than half this box. Most didn't even make it into the compost bin- they ripped upon opening. Others ripped while pulling out the full bag.Conversely, the other bags are seamless and made of a sturdy softer material. I've never had a single problem with them. They hold a lot of weight and never fall apart.I have no clue why the bad ones are randomly distributed in otherwise identical boxes, but now I will only buy them in the store so I can check which ones they are.

Good product
I've been using these bags for many years now. The best thing about this product is that I don't have to clean a compost pail anymore. That was my least favorite job next to litter box cleanup. So as far as I'm concerned these bags are a miracle. They are sturdy enough that they hold together when fairly full. The only caution I would give is to be careful when you're opening the bag initially. If you're too rough, you can split the side of the bag. It takes them a while to break down in the compost pile, but they do decompose completely.

Love these little bags!
I originally purchased these bags for using to dispose of animal waste (cat litter scoop and doggie droppings from the yard) because it just seemed so counterproductive to be enclosing something that will eventually break down naturally in a landfill into a plastic bag that will take 1000 years to break down. I didn't expect to be able to hold as much waste as they do! They are really perfect for this purpose! I like them so much, I am going to definitely use them as compost bags because they are so handy!

Don't bother - very flimsy
These bags tear easily and break down quickly. They begin to leak if they are not changed every other day. If you don't generate a lot of compostables, you will end up with a slimy, smelly compost pail. I double-bagged these until I finished the roll, then I ordered EcoSafe-6400 CP1617-6 Compostable Bag, Certified Compostable, 2.5-Gallon, Green (Pack of 90), which is a far sturdier bag, while still meeting the City of Seattle requirements for curbside collected compostables.
