Eastbound & Down: Season 1

I thought I would get too annoyed with the character to get past a whole season. But I've watched all of them and am cycling through again currently. The only issue is eventually I started pulling for Kenny somewhat - either to get back to the Majors or to become a better person. This got a little in the way of enjoying the humor, but that's only the difference between 4 and 5 stars. The humor is vulgar and juvenile, but done right for vulgar and juvenile humor.The best part of the show is really his friend Stevie. I just hope there aren't any real people like him. He serves as a someone of a foil to Kenny. Kenny's character needs other characters who are meaner, more evil, and more dangerous to make him seem more reasonable. Stevie plays the role of more dangerous, but less mean and less evil.You'll ask yourself why you're watching it and how they could make a show like this, but you'll enjoy it. Just make sure shopping for toilet humor is what you're after.

What originally attracted me to watch this movie was the high ratings for the series and the baseball related theme. I like the story of the fireball pitcher falling from the top and having to find a life after the majors.This movie is very over the top, it's vulgar with a lot of profanity and crude humor. If that doesn't bother you then your apt to love this show. For me it's a bit too much at times and that's mainly the reason for the 4 stars. I think it could be made with a little less and still be great.Mcbride is the perfect actor to play this role. His attitude is great as a spoiled old kid. Loved Ferrel showing up in the one appearance I've seen so far.

This is not a show to watch with your grandmom in the room, but lord is it funny. This is the edgiest, most unapologetic character portrait I've ever seen in a comedy. Washed-up former MLB pitcher Kenny Powers is a foul-mouthed, beer-swilling, coke-snorting mess of a human being. He is rude, arrogant, demeaning and lives his entire life convinced that he is simply better than all the little folk who get in his way. When his career tanks and he has to move back to his hometown, he hits rock bottom. But Kenny Powers does not learn anything. There is no moment of clarity, no hugging, no moralizing. Just more drinking, more women, more delusions of grandeur. This show is flat-out hilarious, and Danny McBride either is this character or else he's the best comedic actor out there.

Coke-tooting, steroid-shooting ex-MLB pitcher Kenny Powers falls, and he falls hard, as he makes his way back home to N. Carolina in order to bottom out, and, perhaps, get his old girl and his MLB career back. Season 1 is incredibly funny and creative. As a middle school gym teacher, Powers gets hilariously inappropriate in ways that you never could have seen on network sit-coms. The scene where he goes nuts on the school's intercom is beautiful. Will Ferrell's role as antagonistic car dealer Ashley Schaefer is innovative and hysterical. McBride also continues the good work on Seasons 2 and 3, so get those, too, but the recent Season 4 I find to be less watchable (after all Kenny has been through, after all his trials and triumph and passage, he reverts back to that level of American ugliness?). But, Season 1 (and 2 and 3, too) is totally brilliant and very funny, so do check it out.

Flippin through and this show popped up, my nephew said "this is a really funny show", so i thought hey lets watch it together! Little bit into the show i asked him if his dad let him watch this, he said yeah. Almost the end of 1st episode im thinkin to myself this show is really funny but i cant believe my brother would let his 11 year old son watch this. Shows over i said wow im gonna have to talk to your dad about the shows he lets you watch. He said wont do any good, ive never seen that show before now, he wouldnt let me watch it. Sneaky bugger!

Season 1 makes you so excited and ready to get right into season 2. #bingeworthy

Danny McBride is just phenomenal in Eastbound and Down! I was immediately hooked after the first episode. I find humor in many different aspects and do not offend easily. Eastbound and Down does not fail to make me laugh. I am embarrassed to say how many times I have watched the complete series (four).Danny McBride portrays Major League Baseball player Kenny Powers and his downfall. The first season is mostly with Powers adjusting to "Average Joe life," such as getting a job, living with his behaved brother and family, all while trying to maintain his image of self-proclaimed greatness.I will advise you that there is some strong language, mild violence and nudity. If you're in the mood to laugh, don't let that stop you!

At first I thought his borderline nutjob personality was going to annoy me or that there would be a lack of depth, but it never happened. I binged watched the whole show and really got into it. His personality is unique, quirky, absurd, hilarious and simultaneously lovable. I particularly love the fact that you get to really experience Kenny as weak & vulnerable at times when he is emotionally broken, and then you cheer when he discovers what he needs to cure his problem (support from his wife etc.) and goes on to succeed. Im glad I watched this, lots of laughs, a lot more story than I expected, very strongly recommended.

best comedy to come out of the states in a while, roll on season 2...

I wanted to get into this series, but was not able to completely enjoy it. Not sure why, but it didn't grab me the way I had hoped after seeing other reviews. Some good moments, but overall it let me down.

Eastbound and down is so vulgar, offensive and hilarious that I was nearly falling off of my chair laughing. Kenny Powers is an awesome character. This is a must have for your TV show collection.
