It is such an easy-to-read book, fast-paced, beautifully written, and thoughtfully structured. It offers a brief yet fascinating overview of India's history, beginning with the Rig Veda and taking the reader all the way to modern India through the lens of geography. What makes this book stand out is the way Sanjeev Sanyal explains how rivers, mountains, coastlines, monsoons, and trade routes have shaped the rise and fall of kingdoms, cities, cultures, and civilizations across the Indian subcontinent. The narrative is engaging, and despite covering thousands of years of history, it never feels overwhelming. This is not an exhaustive history of India, nor does it attempt to be. Nice Book

As a septuagenerian I enjoyed the language and historical presntations in this book, reportedly written for young generation. In my childhood I read history upto class VIII as was compulsory. After retirement from professional life, I found the history books I read to be boring because of the statements being monotonus and no relations were made between the geographical locations of events of yesteryears and of present time. In this book I found these and am very happy as many of these matched with my present experiences of travelling within my country and some neighbouring countries. In fact I have decided to include some of the places in my next itinerary.

Good book provides good knowledge of our Indian history. Easy to read as well. Pages are of good quality. Touched all aspects briefly. Will provide info about our previous generation and invasions

The book covers a lot of historical aspects of India which were either unknown or vaguely known due to our schooling system and my lack on interest in history of India when i was growing up. But better late than never.

Superb book... Indian history explained at a high level in a clear, simple and unbiased manner. Highly recommended.

Fun read. Seems to have been written for students. Count the exclamation points for extra credit! Very informative for non-Indian students and those interested in the sub-continent. Learned a lot!

This is for children. I didn’t notice because he actually has one on the same topic for adults. Too expensive to return. I have not read it because I don’t want to use the book - will try to find a child who may want it. I’m sure it’s good. He’s a lovely author for adults.
