Thinking Body, Dancing Mind: Taosports for Extraordinary Performance in Athletics, Business, and Life

Life changing.
This book is one of my top ten self discovery/improvement books. I am a long time student of the Tao. This book gave the tenets and principles a wonderful treatment. It is filled with countless examples of stories, brief anecdotes and text from the Tao te Ching that shows me my work in Hypnotherapy and my play in dance is integral to my spiritual practice.I have had a copy since 92, right after graduating college with a degree in Asian Studies. Master Huang and Dr. Lynch are incredible as a writing team. This book has informed my work as a Professional Dancer, Martial Artist, and Sports Hypnotist for nearly 30 years. I don'thavethe words to explain the beauty of the words or the joy that I found in connecting my body to Taoism, a very intellectual concept.I was so happy to find a new looking hardcover version that I can share with friends. My original copy is full of dog ears, underlines and margin notes. Thinking Body, Dancing Mind is a clever title but it really makes sense to switch our traditional ways of looking at ourselves. My mind danced through this book.

Don't buy the kindle version
The content seems pretty good, and I really like the idea of the visualization exercises. However, the formatting of the Kindle version is just terrible and gets incredibly distracting. I have not finished the book, and the formatting locked in fonts that you can't change are really to blame. Will probably get a used hard copy.

Written with the theories and practices of Al Huang's teachings ("Embrace Tiger, Return to Mountain, the essence of Tai Ji") , "Thinking Body, Dancing Mind" is a good "how to book" It is definitely more "western" and linear in its content compared to Al Huang's book. "Thinking Body" is a manual compared to the poetic nature of "Embrace Tiger."As a teacher of dance, I'm always looking for ways to inspire my students, "Thinking Body" offers many good ideas to help student achieve a sense of confidence, inner awareness.

Tao of Self Help
Good self help book for those that are interested in improving themselves but who are also capable of reading self help books. This book contains a lot of examples, stories and exercises to keep you motivated in addition to very important morals and ideals used in the Tao. For those that have never read a self help book, they are at times very cheesy; This extra information does not negate the book's ability to be useful, it is just sometimes less focused, more distracting and a bit unnecessary. Now preparing to read The Tao Te Ching . . .

Better than expected.
This was required reading for my T'ai Chi class. I was surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did. The concepts are simple to understand and apply. It had some good exercises to practice.

The Authors Bend the Tao Te Ching to Their Purposes
The quotes from the Tao Te Ching are twisted to suit the purpose of the book. For example, no. 14, "Hold on to the ancient Tao. Control the current reality." The Tao is not about controlling things. That is the worst translation I have ever seen. The book does provide some useful visualizations and advice.

bellissimo libro
Spedizione ottima e puntuale come sempre.
