Awesoem game, but beware, it's LOUD
Pit is a game that my family has played for many years now. So when I saw they came out with an updated version, I wanted to check it out. The object of the game is to corner the market on specific essentials, i.e. cattle, oil, gold, silver and platinum. Each player is dealt either nine or ten cards, depending on how close to the dealer you sit, one player screams GO! Then all hades breaks loose with every player trying to get all nine of their needed cards. Once a person has their cards the round is over. The end of the game is set at how many points you want the winner to have. We usually play to 500. If you have never played Pit, I suggest you do. The game is crazy, loud and most of all good family fun.

One of the best and simplest games around!
I've played Pit for, oh, probably about 30 years now, and recently introduced our youth group to it. They can't get enough of it, which is why I had to buy a new pack - they wore out the old one in a few weeks! This set is already getting worn (especially the Bear card!) but that's not a fault with the cards, just a fault with the game - it's too good! I'm not a huge fan of the switch from the old commodities (corn, flax, etc) to gold, silver, etc, but I must admit that the young people get a kick out of saying, "OK, who's got Gas?" and giggling... So it can't be all bad! This set was also a help to us because my original one only had 6 commodities and this has 8, so it gave us more room for more players. As an aside, you can play Pit with two decks of playing cards perfectly adequately, as we found, so that's an option for more players (up to 11 players, with, say, Queen and King as Bear and Bull respectively).

This game can play up to 8 and really is good for people who may not be into strategic board ...
Pit Card Game is one of the newer card game I recently purchased for my game night parties. This game can play up to 8 and really is good for people who may not be into strategic board games or if you don't have time for something longer. It plays quickly and can get quite rowdy. I would compare this type of game more to Taboo or Cranium as opposed to Settlers or Dominion or Powergrid. But nonetheless, its a good game to have in the collection. Also portable so in case you want to take it on a road trip or play it while drinking, I think this game would be perfect. Does not come with the call bell which is required to play the game.

Really fun game! 8 year old daughter absolutely loves it! Played it at a friends house and we just had to buy it for ourselves! Easy to learn but still provides hours of fun!

Favorite game for 3 generations
My family loves this game. My parents played it with their friends when I was little. I played it as I grew up and am now playing with my kids. It's become a Christmas day tradition at my house with family and friends after dinner. It gets loud and hectic but we all have a great time. We wear the deck out every year so I'm always buying a new one. We play a little differently. We place markers on the table (we use swizzle sticks). There is one fewer marker than the number of players. The first person to get a full set will discretely grab one of the markers making them the winner. The person to end up without a marker loses the hand. It's always funny to watch the last person still trying to trade while everyone else has their marker. It helps to clear the table of food and drinks while the hand is being played or else they may go flying.

This game is a classic that I remember from when I was a kid 35 years ago. One of my favourite birthday parties included Pit as the entertainment. 8 kids having the time of their lives pretending to be in a commodity trading pit. It's great for adults too. Another bonus is almost nobody knows about this game and after playing it they'll be talking about it for days. Pit is simple, easy to learn and a blast. Be ready for a shot of adrenaline because I've witnessed the calmest people in the world shout out loud when they win.

PIT was originally designed in the early 20th century by traders for their wives. The idea was to show women, deemed as being child-like at the time, what their men were doing at work each day. Although society has come a long way, shouting commodity trades with friends and family in a race to finish first has never been so exciting. Hope for a bull market, and beware the bear!
