An Ideal Choice For A Wireless Mouse
I bought this model, the Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000, as I'd had an identical mouse that I'd been using for years, but the rubber on the wheel was starting to break up, making using the wheel to scroll up and down the page rather difficult to say the least. However, the mouse had lasted well over the years so I didn't hesitate to try and find an identical item. Unfortunately Microsoft have discontinued production of this exact model, so finding an identical item that was either brand new or as good as new was never going to be easy. However, I like this mouse as it just feels like a perfect fit, and the fact that it's designed to be used with either hand is a real plus, especially if like me you're left-handed and don't get on with using the type of mouse that's been specifically shaped as though the designers deliberately designed it in such a way that it could only be used right-handed. The beauty of this mouse is that it feels totally natural to use it left-handed if you can't get used to using a mouse with your right hand, and for me that was the clincher in deciding to buy this model. It's an ideal mouse to use, whichever hand you use when using a mouse, and if you're left-handed all you need to do is use the "Switch Between Primary And Secondary Buttons" function on your computer to set the mouse up for left-handed use so as to be able to use the mouse properly, as it's just as comfortable being used left-handed due to the fact that the shape of either side is a mirror image of the other. This is truly a mouse that would suit anybody and not just people who are right-handed.

Super
A great mouse. The side buttons are a little fiddly, so occasionally you get the screen magnifier popping up. I've not had it long enough to know what the battery life is like. The usb wireless dongle is nice and small and clips in under the mouse when not in use, making it very portable and ideal for a lap-top. It feels right, is very precise and even has a go at working on my shiny white table. I love it.

Great mouse for all day desktop use.
This is an ideal replacement for the older Microsoft Laser Mouse 5000. My hands are of average size, perhaps even a bit smaller and the mouse fits in to my palm perfectly. It is not a lightweight portable/laptop mouse, it has a good weight for desktop usage, i.e. it is not too light to keep lifting off the desk when moving it. Two side buttons for back/forward web browsing and a 4-direction click-wheel. Not had it for long but it is so much better than the MS Mouse 5000 that I bought to replace my Laser Mouse 5000. It is surprising how much quicker you can perform actions when your hand is using a mouse of the right size. The USB receiver for it also mounts into the base of the mouse for portability, so actually it would be fine for a laptop mouse too.

Computer mouse Microsoft 5000
I love this product, it's got to be one of if not the best computer mice on the market. Perfect for my laptop as I travel a lot and need to use it on the plane. it's compact, glides easily on all surfaces with no need for a mouse pad. Very easy to use and moves fast around the screen. I have bought several of these as gifts for friends and they all loved the "super mouse". Highly recommend!

Wireless Mouse
Needed new mouse after my Dell wireless packed up. This is a nice full sized mouse. Good to hold and really well made. Scroll wheel is a little too responsive, but you get used to it. You just need to set the vertical scrolling to it's slowest setting and turn off the acceleration option. It's a sturdy little thing and feels great in the hand. It's a really good buy.

A few issues but pretty good overall.
I really like the look and feel of this mouse and am happy with it. I have been using it with Windows 7 and Mac OS X Snow Leopard for the last few weeks and it works fine with both. There are a couple of things I'd have liked to have known before I bought it though: - It does seem to work on most surfaces that I've tested it on (desks, duvets and my wife's head are all fine). - It has a nice weight to it and the buttons are pretty good too. - With the default setup, the scroll wheel doesn't work correctly in a lot of applications (including most games). I hunted around on the internet and found a solution for this which is to tell the IntelliMouse software that you actually own an "IntelliMouse Explorer 4.0". You can do this by opening the Mouse section in the Windows Control Panel and looking under the 'Buttons' tab. This seems to disable the sideways middle click on the mouse but I would never have used that anyway. I also set the middle click to actually be a middle click! I haven't had any problems since I made this change (Dragon Age:Origins, Supreme Commander and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 all work fine now). - Once the mouse wheel is setup so it works (see above) I've found it has a nice feel to it. - The way the mouse turns itself on and off is a little strange. The mouse is ALWAYS on unless you unplug the USB transceiver from your computer and plug it into the bottom of the mouse. This may be one reason to choose the Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000, which seems to be pretty much the same mouse but has an on/off switch on the bottom, instead. It does seem to go into a low power mode when it's not being used (the blue sensor light dims) and the advertised 8 month battery life must be accounting for the mouse being always on so this might not be such an issue, though the batteries might last a lot longer if you could easily turn it off. - It doesn't glow blue around the bottom like in the pictures, but that would probably just be annoying anyway.

Good mouse
Nice wireless mouse. I've got large hands and it is comfortable to use. There are 2 buttons to use as short cuts but I've not found I use them (you can change what they do). The scroll wheel is nice and smooth. I've had it for a few months now and can't complain - it does what it says on the box... "Wireless mouse"
