Best addition to my kitchen, and certainly beats a stand-alone air fryer, too!
I had a different brand of a pressure cooker, but knew there was a lot of hubbub about Instant Pots and their new air fryer lids. My friend mentioned there was this newer model that doubled as an air fryer / roaster, and I got one! This machine is incredible, I'm being honest. We roast vegetables for almost every dinner and this air fryer lid shaves half the time off of that process and doesn't make the entire kitchen hot. Our oven takes about 10-12 minutes to get to the right temperature, then roasts for 20 minutes, then takes another hour to cool down. The air fryer option on the Instant Pot takes about 2 minutes to heat up, only needs to cook for about 10-12 minutes tops, then cools down very quickly. It's truly a fraction of the time and frees up the oven for the main course! So far we've loved it for cooking carnitas and then crisping with the lid once done, making delicious one-pot pasta meals and broiling the cheese on top, or making some nice stews / other dishes. I'm extremely, EXTREMELY impressed with the Duo Crisp. Pressure cookers are great to begin with, but having the simple addition of the air frying lid is just a total game changer for us. I also didn't realize that stand-alone air fryers are rather expensive, so this machine being able to do both pressure cooking AND air frying for us for less than the cost of a big air fryer has been amazing. I cannot recommend this machine enough! We've had it a month and use it about 5-7 times a week at the moment. It's also helpful for getting roasted vegetables at lunch as it's so quick about cooking. I'll update in a few months or a year on how it's doing - but I'd buy this again a few times with how useful it is! If you're on the fence - don't be. Just get it - you will be happy!

Not a causal appliance
This pot changed my life. I am an Instant Pot girly now. This is a BIG POT. If you have a small kitchen this 8qt is NOT for you. Get a smaller Instant Pot. And arguably this is too big for my family of 3, the 6 qt would have worked fine. This pot is for Instant Pot enthusiasts and not for casual cooks. BUT the air fryer on the other hand, which I use once a week or so, the 8qt is the right size because the food needs more space in order to cook. The chicken wings are magic. After I got this Duo Crisp, my parents got a sturdy toaster oven/air fryer combo that lives on their countertop. It’s wayyyy less hastle than the Dup Crisp for the air fryer function, but the wings aren’t as good. So know that you are taking on an appliance on the level of a bulky toaster oven.

Versatile. The best Instant Pot.
I have baked bread. I have made sous vide egg bites in mason jars. I did not even know what sous vide was before this. Now it is one of my favorite cooking methods. I have made perfect medium rare roasts and steaks using the sous vide function. It pressure cooks, roasts, bakes, air frys, slow cooks, steams, broils, dehydrayes. has a delay start for the pressure cooker. The cooker automatically sets the pressure cooker lid vent to open or closed based on the settings you cook with. I really like this. You can turn the keep warm function off when you set the cooking times, which is great for rice. The smallest size is 8 quarts, which I didn't like at first, but after using it for sous vide and baking, the size is necessary. I also have an Instant Pot Duo which I have used several times a week for several years, and I still love it, but the Instant Pot Duo Crisp is by far my favorite. It is large, but if you have some place to put it this is the one to get. There are many YouTube videos that show how to cook different things. I learned how to sous vide there. The Instant Pots have many safety features. It isn't going to blow up. Watch some videos with recipes and instructions and cook stuff. Some reviewers have complained about plastic taste. There is nothing plastic inside the pot or lid. Follow the cleaning instructions before using it. I doubled the water and the time for the pre-cleaning. I highly recommend any Instant Pot, but this one is the best in my opinion.

instant pot.
So far it is wonderful. BUT a few more accessories would be nice. Purchased when ninja foodi quit working. It is a little learning curve on cooking time vrs the ninja but I love it. The downside is the airfry lid is heavy and doesn't have a 1 pot steam crisp function. But it is workable. Buy two pot inserts and steam in one than finish off in other pot on airfry. Still working that out. The pressure funcion is great. No hassle and totally safe. Makes perfect large hard boiled eggs. 4 minutes on pressure and 5 minutes cool down under natural steam release than quick release.than immediate drop into ice water and peal. No green eggs and ham here. Just tender eggs . Did not have a cooking guide which was the most annoying thing. So I would recommend this product.

I guess I like kitchen gadgets now...
I was always pretty anti-kitchen gadgets. The InstantPot seemed like just another thing that did stuff I could already do on my stove or oven. Boy, was I wrong. I honestly am in disbelief how much I love using this thing. It is so versatile that I use it more than anything else in my kitchen, except maybe the sink. The reasons why? Well, for starters it’s super easy to clean. Instead of making a mess with multiple pans and pots and lids with food stuff splattering everywhere, the InstantPot is one thing that’s fully contained. When the timer ends I take out the food, clean the pot, and wipe down the lid and little “gutter” and that’s it. Two, it’s so FAST! Now, granted some things will feel like they take the same or similar amount of time when pressure cooking because the machine has to build pressure. BUT, the difference is that I can set this and LEAVE! When it’s ready it beeps and I can choose to keep the food warm or have it stop cooking when the timer is done. What really sold me on finally purchasing this is the air fryer attachment. I’ve been wanting an air fryer so this was much cheaper than buying everything separately. I will say that while I do love the air fryer it’s probably not the best on the market. When using a two-tiered basket, whatever is in the top portion *will* be more cooked than the bottom. This is a problem I will try to fix by simply removing the top portion when it’s cooked and letting the bottom cook longer until it’s done. Not ideal, but for delicious air fried food ans the convenience of having these capabilities from one machine at this price, I’ll make do. I recommend purchasing an InstantPot cookbook to accompany this. It will help acquaint you to how this machine can be used, even if the cookbook is more oriented towards one of the models without the air fryer. What do I use this for? So far I’ve made vegan chana masala (yum!), vegan banana bread (yum!), air fried Brussels sprouts (yum!), truffle fries (you get the idea). I’ve also used this to steam food to make dog food for my pup with allergies. One of my favorite things to use this for is dry goods!! I will dump a whole bag of dry beans or quinoa or whatever in the pot, add spices, water, set it, and it’s done to perfection so quickly! I’ll then can everything and freeze it so I have beans and quinoa on hand all the time whenever I need them for a meal! It’s the best! Not to mention the pressure cooker seems to really INFUSE whatever you’re cooking with the spices you choose. The beans I’ve made with this I’ve eaten plain they were so so tasty! I live with roommates but this has been the best purchase ever. I’m lucky to have the room to store it, but it’s also great because they can cook on the stove or in the oven if they want, and I have everything I need right in this InstantPot so no one has to wait on anyone to clear out before they can do their own thing. Things I wish it did differently: - I wish the display showed seconds. Minor inconvenience but the display in general makes it feel cheap. - I wish the display showed what setting it was on and what action it was currently doing. For example, a small icon for “pressure cooking” so you can remember that you chose the correct setting. Or a little icon that showed it was building pressure so you don’t think you didn’t hit “start” or something before waking away. Also, something that showed the current temperature inside instead of what you set it to so you know how things are cooking or heating up/cooling down. - A persistant beep every minute or so when food is finished cooking.

This thing is great!
I almost didn’t purchase this because of some negative reviews. One problem that many seem to have is that the air-fry basket is difficult to clean. I fried some chicken and it does tend to make a mess because of the breading and the fat, but frying chicken is always messy no matter how you fry it. Some of the breading had dripped through the holes in the basket and were cooked on pretty hard. I soaked it for about 15 minutes and most of it rinsed off and the rest came off easily with no scrubbing needed. I had another air fryer that I liked a lot, but I had dropped the basket and broken it. I was concerned about how the instant pot air fryer would compare, but it is even better than the one I broke. The food cooks more evenly and just as quickly. It’s easier to turn the food over and stir the food because you simply lift the lid off when it notifies you to do so. The pressure cooking is also excellent, as many reviewers of the instant pot have raved about. I especially like cooking rice in it. I was a bit cynical when I read that you only use equal amounts of white rice and water. I decided to try it and will never cook rice any other way. Dried beans, pot roasts, and many other dishes are a cinch to make. I bought this for the sous vide cooking. I had a sous vide appliance that attaches to a stock pot or similar container and I loved it, but it died. When I saw the instant pot had a sous vide setting I had to try it and I am not disappointed. It works great! I had another smaller instant pot that I had used for a few years. I gave it to a friend. It was smaller than this one and I really needed a bigger one, so I am very pleased with this purchase. The fact that it was reduced $60 was also a great incentive to buy it.

My second Instant Pot, well worth the cost
I am a fan of the Instant Pot, I have used my 6qt Instant pot a few times a week for a couple years with great results. I like the fact that the older Instant Pot replaced my crock pot and pressure cooker and was thinking of updating my Instant Pot to an 8 qt model. When I decided I wanted to try an air fryer I knew that the Instant Pot Duo Crisp was the answer. This version of Instant Pot provides me all of the features I like on my older Instant Pot with the addition of so many more cooking techniques. Now I have the ability to cook pretty much any meal in one fairly easy to clean pot. That is my one of my only complaints, the clean up of the inner air fryer pot is difficult at time due to all of indentations on the bottom of the liner, food sticks in the corners and is hard to get perfectly clean. I did buy the optional clear lid which I think is a must if you do a bunch of crock pot slow cooking and for steaming. The test was my first batch of French fries, my son loves French fries and told me hey Dad those fries were really good ... nice and crispy! This version is a nice investment and I look forward to years of use.
