Excellent Training Tool
I ordered this for my son to help him improve his golf swing. I have a very similar hitting mat, and I’ve found it to be one of the best training tools I’ve ever had. If I hit a ball off it, I can analyze the exact swing path. I actually take mine to the driving range, and I’ve used it to figure out how to eliminate a life-long slice. The mat is heavy, so it tends to stay firmly in place. They provide two of the “velvet” inserts that easily replace with velcro, which is nice because they do wear out. They provide a nice illustrated guide to help you understand how to analyze what you see after you swing. All around, this is a really excellent training tool.

Does what it says, more or less. But is it useful?
As a golfer continually looking for insights into why shots go awry, I'm always looking for things that might show what I'm doing during my swing. This mat was definitely worth a try. And, it does "work," sort of.The mat insert is made of a soft velour material with a nap that has it either laying down flat or "roughed up." The idea is for you to hit balls into the nap so that it stands up to indicate the kind of impact your club made with it. You can then smooth it back down with the back of your club or your hand and hit the next shot. It does all of this, but in a way that is not very helpful. If I truly exagerate a swing tendency, like swinging outside in, that mat does show it. But if I just open or close my club face or hit slightly off line, the mat does not show it well enough to tell you what's happened. If your goal is to see when you hit too far behind the ball or too far beyond the ball, it might be of some usefulness. But the way the ball flies will also tell you this, so it's not telling you something you don't know. With that said, there are some positives, especially if you were a new golfer.1. The mat is quite sturdy. I hit 50+ balls and could not see any wear. And, on top of that, the mat comes with a replacement insert.2. There are illustrated instructions that give common sense advice about what a mark on the mat might mean.3. If you are looking to practice tight lies chips, it is a pretty good practice aid. I found this the most helpful use of the mat.Less positive aspects:1. The marks on the mat are very general in all the shots I hit. The pictures on the listing show more conical marks. I never got any that looked like that.2. This is really only helpful for irons. My fairway woods and hybrids just made generic marks. And of course for the a driver, it's of no use unless you hit your driver off the deck.At roughly $30, I'd probably look for other hitting mats instead. If you can find one that has both a grass insert and one like this, that would be an option to consider. The mat does have its uses and seems well made. I just don't think it's going to tell you much about swing path or clubhead position.Note: I did receive this mat at no cost in order to offer an objective review. The item was supplied by Amazon, not the manufacturer, and I have been offered no incentive to give a positive review.

Instant feedback!
Was always looking for a product like this to help me with my swing! My tendency is to have an outside in swing producing a slice, I'm a 12 handicapper and I needed something that would give me instant feedback instead of just beating balls at the driving range. This mat was the answer! Its small enough to bring to the range, and the material lets you see EXACTLY where you club face is at impact. All i do after each hit is smooth the material back with my foot and go right back to the next shot, a 2 second process! After 15v minutes of using this mat, I was able to correct about 50% of my outside in swing path! This also comes with an extra mat, which is great! Definitely would recommend this to any golfer!

Excellent training pad!!
The media could not be loaded. Very impressed with the quality of this striking mat. It feels durable, and the ease of use is fantastic. I believe this will last while, but time will tell. Even if the markings wear off over time, it's still very useable. I love that it comes with a replacement pad as well. Matt does not slip and is the perfect size. It's not something I would want to keep in my golf bag as it does have some weight to it, which is a good thing IMO. Best for home practice, but of course you could bring it to the range as well if you really wanted to. Suuuper happy with this product, and no this is not a biased review as we have no benefit in doing so. Highly recommend.
