Best Addition to a Truck Camping Setup
I was a bit worried about this tent because it’s pretty much the only one on the market that works with a camper shell! And when it reads as “universal” sometimes that means “only works on some trucks.” Well I am pleasantly surprised! I got this because I’m attending a music festival in August in Pennsylvania. I will be camping with my sister but she has her own set up. So I get to sleep in the back of my tent without my dogs and husband! I figured what’s the point of setting up a tent if it’s just me. I originally thought I’d just get a mosquito net for the back and call it a day. But then I saw this tent. This gives me another 2 feet of space on the end and a tiny little awning to shade the back end, plus a mosquito net to zipper shut to keep bugs out. I plan on putting a mosquito net pop up tent over the back also. I love camping but not the bugs who want to join in on the party.I did a test run today in my driveway to see if I could do it all by myself. I used a ladder just so I could see the top and how things connect. But when I camp I’ll open the back door and use the tailgate. I also have one of the steps that you can sling over the back tire. I am attaching images on this review but might add more once I use it at the music festival. I did not steak down the awning so the poles are obviously not going to be that way in the wild. I just wanted to get an idea of how far the awning reaches.I do recommend starting from the top down. I used gear clamps to hold each side up so it wouldn’t slip. Connect the top straps first then adjust the two straps that hook to the hitch. Adjust the tailgate strap after you put the poles inside. Tighten the tire straps last. That’ll make it nice and snug under the tailgate. Make sure the edges of the door hug the corners nice and snug along the tailgate. I’ll include an image.I drive a 2017 Toyota Tacoma with an ARE cap with the extended height. We have an aluminum rack on top and that did not affect the fit at all.Lastly make sure you have some pool noodles or foam pipe covers, just in case. The edge of our cap window is pretty round but I put them on just in case.I am a 48 year old woman and this was very easy to do by myself.I’m so excited to use this next month!

Awesome tent
This tent was great quality for my 2007 f150 with hard topper. Nice to have extra leg room while truck camping. Have now experienced rain and wind when cinched down snug it was pretty good no water got in. I’m using it on those overnight fishing trips.Materials and seams were all in the right place good snug fit.Little tricky to assemble first try but I figured it out.The only thing I didn’t care about was the Velcro sky light plastic. It should be an option to have it or not.If water or bugs are getting in you’re not setting it up correctly plus it doesn’t say air tight for bugs lol. Just like every product not everyone is gonna be satisfied but I am. Those reviews that are not just enjoy complaining and throwing fits about everything.

High quality
Very satisfied with this addition to my truck camping set up. I got this because I am 6'3" and have a 5'10" truck bed. I wanted something that I could use while having the tailgate down. This worked out perfectly. I have used it twice now, for a totally of 6 camping days. One in the woods of NC and one for a music festival (Lost Lands).A heavy wind and rain storm rolled in for about an hour, and this thing held up perfectly and kept very hint underneath it dry. It has kept the bugs out each time I have used it as well. I have not noticed any rips or cheap materials yet.The truck I have is a 2017 GMC SIERRA 1500 AT4 with an ARE camper shell. The fit is perfect for it.

Cool idea!!!
I would recommend this product. In a lot of ways this is a really cool tent. It takes some practice to set up by oneself. But it's doable. You will want to order a usb rechargeable fan. I seem to use it in the most in the National Forrests and use a dome tent elsewhere. Here are my thoughts...The downsides I have found, over the course of last summer and fall are: the tent covers a fair amount of the side windows restricting needed air flow. The 'roof' of the tent sags some at the back, just before the upper entry supprt bar/stick thing allowing water to drip inside, I had to exchange the first one they sent me because it was defective and looked like a returm. This tent NEEDS some kind of camp dry product. To come and go from a campsite, I didn't consider what a pain it would be to regularity take it down and set it back up, I can do it myself in about 8 minutes. I really don't like that the bottom of the tent is open and just sits against the body of the truck. Sure, the straps keep it secured, however I had a group of angry raccoons almost get in. That was intense!

Nice tent but not for a high topper
Seems well enough made but it will not fit a full size pickup with a high topper. The materials and versatilty of the unit would have been great but I ended up returning it because of fitment. I think it would have been great if I had a standard topper.

Not for a Ranger
Despite the claim, it does not fit my mid-size truck with a cap. Delayed from testing it and now too late to return it.Set-up is very complicated but it seems like it would be durable enough if you have the right vehicle.

Better than laying on the ground
Used it for two summers now, works well me and my dogs have a good time, easy to put up.
