Grain-free Gourmet Delicious Recipes for Healthy L

I love this book
Seldon does one find a new idea in a cookbook. I am fascinated by grain free cooking. Recently I decided to give up wheat and gluten. Making bread the right texture is difficult and I still miss a piece of crusty french bread! Converting old recipes using bread crumbs and flour roux, or making a basic cake became frustrating. This book took me in a whole new direction. Almond flour. I imagined a time before when the wheat ran out, and crafty women used whatever they had to make a meal. The recipes are delicious, they can be tweaked for personal taste, the book layout and pictures are helpful, and the concept has opened my epicurean horizons. There is a whole world of alternate flours and thickeners out there, and this book is very helpful. Each healthfood store I went to had almond meal (and flax meal!)unrefrigerated, just sitting on the shelf, which bothered me because I know nut fat is unstable. I ended up ordering it on line from a small manufacturer, who guaranteed freshness for six months, and I keep it refrigerated. Recently, I found a muffin recipe in an English healthy living techniques type book that grinds the nuts (food processor)with a little flour (to keep it from becoming nut butter), so I'm gong to wing it from here on in using whole almonds. It's become a small adventure in cooking!

This cookbook has yet to let me down
I went grain-free to be healthier and because my body just can't digest gluten well. I tried a few recipes from grain-free blogs and experienced disaster after disaster. I decided to buy a cookbook to see if I'd have more luck. I am SO happy that I purchased this cookbook. Every recipe I've tried has been delicious. I've found that I prefer almond flour to wheat flour. It tastes so much better to me.Another reason why I love this book is because it requires no strange ingredients. I had no trouble finding what I needed at the supermarket and even noticed that I had many of the necessary ingredients at home (baking powder, eggs, butter) They even have alternative recipes for those with allergies dairy. I am cutting dairy, but not eliminating it so I can use regular yogurt (instead of yogurt cheese) and butter (instead of ghee). This is by-far the best cookbook I've ever purchased. It gets used constantly! I highly recommend it!

Great cookbook, worth the money
This cookbook is great! The recipes are a little involved compared to prepared food but nothing is too hard to make and the ingredients are easy to find. I have GI problems and all the recipes are SCD safe and delicious. My kids eat almost everyting we have made so far! The breads are really good and so are the desserts. The food really does taste gourmet in most cases. My son loves the spaghetti sauce better than stuff out of the jar (which is what we used to eat) and it contains more vegetables too. Great recipes and definately worth the money.

Eating well
It is hard to be Gluten free and grain free, but we have to be that way as we are extremely intolerant to those foods. The thing is that our culture uses wheat products for everything and its taste and texture is great. So eating wheat/gluten free is very hard. You crave it and nothing tastes so well. We have found several recipes in this book already that are delicious and allow us to eat as well as before we recognized our problem. Good job!

Wonderful recipes....but
This book was a life saver. The recipes are easy to follow and very tasty. My only issue is the quality of the book. I have had it for about 2 months now and the pages are falling out. I see that it was printed and bound in China, so maybe that explains the problem. I truly love this cookbook and wish it had been made in the U.S. because I believe this wouldn't have occurred.

decent recipes
This book has helped me with grain free meal ideas, though if you are a true fiend for baked goods and breads, you'll probably be disappointed. Almond flour substitutes, while tasty, barely resemble options made with wheat products. The almond flour pizza crust was good, but it definitely doesn't have the mouth feel that a real pizza crust offers. Just a warning on that part. Otherwise I found this book very helpful as a starting off point for going grain free.

a real asset
The contents of this book are very good, and I am very happy with my purchase overall. I've made a few of the recipes already and received rave reviews, and I'm no cook, just someone using diet to help heal (from Lyme Disease health issues). My only criticism is in the quality of the book binding. I've only owned it a week, and it looks like the pages will fall out any day.

Good recipes, no nutritional stats
I've made several of the muffins in this book, and they're all pretty good. I plan to make a lot more of them. The grain-free baked goods use lots of almonds, other nuts, and eggs. One problem is that the author/editor included no nutritional info. with the recipes. If you're counting calories, fat grams, fiber or carbs, you're on your own. It would be great if they would correct that on a revised edition.
