Good, but no better than the portable Anvil Mifi
Was good, does what it says on the tin, whilst personally I found the mobile Anvil mifi version they make a little bit better and with equal wifi range and speeds. Was hoping this one would broadcast further/through more walls than the smaller version.

Smooth setup and excellent connectivity
Setting up this router in our rural office was very easy. We don't have great Wi-Fi, and five staff members work here. The website for setting up the router was simple to use. I was able to make the router work with our network quickly. The interface was clear, so I didn’t need to be a tech expert to change the settings, which is always bonus! The Wi-Fi 6 feature has made a big difference. We have multiple devices connected at the same time—like laptops, phones, and tablets—and the router provides fast and stable Wi-Fi throughout the office. Even though we are in a rural area, the built-in 5G antenna gives us strong connectivity with good signal in every direction. The signal stays strong even in the far corners of the office, which used to be a problem for us as dead spots - this seems to have solved that for us. I also liked that we could use this router as a standalone 5G router or as a broadband router with 5G backup. This gives us options based on our needs. The SIM card slot was easy to use, too. During busy times when all five staff members are online and working, the router handles everything without any problems. It can support up to 64 users, so it can grow with our team. The router has both 2.4G and 5G bands. The 5G band works especially well for video calls and transferring big files - all tested out with no reported issues. Overall, the Anvil XR-5G-241 has been better than I expected for our rural office (I wasn't expecting miracles). The setup was quick, the performance is reliable, and the 5G connection has greatly improved our work. I highly recommend this router for small businesses that need a strong and flexible internet solution at a reasonable price point.

Hit or miss broadband
A very clumsy looking router. It literally took me 30 minutes putting the SIM into the slot, as you have to put it in a certain way. On speeds even with the 5g light on was giving very low speeds. With items like this first impressions matter because if the speeds poor it affects your abily do what you do online. Overall mobile broadband has a long way to go to equal virgin media and the new broadband services that are spouting up

Ideal for my log cabin
This 5G router is extremely well made and very unobtrusive in its styling. It has multiple functionality meaning you can connect it to your existing modem, or you can slip a 5G sim card into the slot on the bottom of the device. I have it set up in my log cabin at the end of my garden where I've struggled to get wifi to work via various means. The only options left to me was to either run an extremely long ethernet wired connection from the house, which wouldn't have been as easy as it may sound due to the length and the layout of the house/garden. The other option was to try a 5G router which I knew would work, as in the past I've had to use the hotspot on my phone to get things like smart TVs, laptops etc to work. While this is okay it has its limitations, because if I need to leave and take my phone with me the whole network stops working to the annoyance of my wife and kids. This 5G router has saved a lot of hassle and because we don’t use the log cabin all the time, mainly holidays and during the warmer months it means I can use a Giffgaff sim and choose the best plan month to month depending on usage. This saves money as when the log cabin isn’t being used much I can have a basic plan which is enough for our wifi cameras and during the times we are more heavily dependent I choose a higher data plan. If you are a business that is heavily reliant on an internet connection this router is perfect as you can have it set up to work off of a wired connection like a standard router, but you have the safety of a 5G backup should your internet go down.

Easy and quick to set up, and very good indeed.
I live somewhere that can't get fibre internet yet, but I can (weirdly) get a 5G signal. This router is great and has given me faster internet than I would otherwise have been able to access. Obviusly, before you buy this, check online that you do have 5G coverage, and then buy the appropriate SIM card and you're ready to go. Set up is very, very easy as you don't need to mess about too much with logins or anything. Slot your SIM card in the bottom, log in to the set up webpage and choose your password and so on, and you're off. The beauty of using a SIM for your internet is you're not tied to a phone line and can put the router anywhere in the house. You can even take it with you when travelling. Once set up, it's a straight forward internet point. Connect to it via wifi and you're off. The signal strength is very good, but not amazing and does struggle to send through the thicker walls of my old house, and you will need to position the router optimally to receive a phone signal and be able to reach all corners of your home. This took a bit of experimentation. You can optinally use the router as a traditional phone line one with the SIM as a back up. This isn't something I need, but if you have an office or a internet-critcal piece of equipment it could be useful. One downside is there is only one LAN port, so if you have various IOT things that want a wired connectino you might need to buy an additional piece of gear to give you more. Apart from that though, it's a great bit of kit. Very easy to set up, portable, and great connection. Brilliant.

Check 5G signal before purchase.
This is a well made router and is quite heavy and solid. It is primarily a 5G router but you can also connect to a modem and use with a wired internet provider, this gives the option of using it normally with the 5G as a fall back if your internet goes down. It is reasonably easy to setup through the ip address in the manual (ideally connect wired with a PC or Mac) it does have limited setting option compared to most routers but at the same time most people probably don’t use most of the features anyway. The biggest issue and one that I had a problem with is that 5G is still pretty flaky in a lot of locations including my house meaning I really had to move it around a lot to get a half decent signal (best I found was upstairs at the back of the house) but that meant I could only use the Wifi connection as the current router wired network was in another location. The Wifi signal was pretty good in all the rooms upstairs and the room directly under the router location but other rooms downstairs the signal was too weak. So I would suggest firstly checking how good a 5G signal you get (maybe test with your mobile phone if it’s 5G) before purchasing and if it’s all good then certainly consider it.

Solid 5G router, but range could be better
The Anvil XR-5G-241 is a powerful 5G router perfect for use at home, or a small office environment. Installation was quite straightforward, and it’s a pretty easy and simple device to use. The Inbuilt Wi-Fi 6 is a definite winner! More routers need to have this as standard in my opinion, it also has quick and reliable connectivity for numerous devices at one go. The 5G full-band antenna copes with strong reception, but I did have a problem with range not being perfect. Over 35–40 meters in my experience, (though I do have old and thick walls), and the signal takes a significant knock. It’s a perfect device to use standalone for a 5G router, but would also work perfectly for use in a backup role for wired broadband, but I have noticed that there are reduced settings capabilities in comparison to high-spec routers. For someone in an area with strong 5G, it’s a safe bet be mindful though the range isn't the best. ★★★★☆ - Good
